Emperor Whimsical
My least favorite is having to tell my alliance leaders that an alliance tried to kill us, an alliance with several of defectors from our own alliance. <33333 Hoopdy, Xiphosis, and Van Hoo. Hymenbreach
Apologising to the former leader of Vahalla. (Not to the leader of ROK as I realise I was wrong there). Having to go to Valhalla and NPO to save the Legion. Especially as we (Freedom Bringers and I) sat waitng for some response from Vahalla, before deciding to go to then puppet master for a much quicker, civilized response. Seeing Sinatra going into the Legion HoF, but myself not (or any kind of Public Thanks for ensuring their survival), despite the fact he didn't do a thing as Triumvir and as been nothing more than a vote hogging demogogue his entire Legion career. Lord Swampy's Moment of Madness, just as The Legion was through the worst of it's Incompetent Years (open door, please walk through). zoskia
When the NPO started to act silly with the NpO and I wrote to an NPO IO telling him... "let Polaris get attacked and Pacifica will face the same situation soon"... and this person wrote back saying "there are no precedents about that situation". Hmmm... when Pacifica got rolled I wrote back to this person telling him: "hi. now there are precedents. bye". Old story.
Ashoka the Great
The Continuum-NoV War. I wasn't involved in it, but I saw a lot of players just pack up and leave afterwards. The war itself was launched for 100% OOC reasons which happened to be wrong from the start. TPF's leader got away with publishing photos of NoV members, personal information and so on. He then got away with dictating how people were supposed to dispose of RL property, in this case NoV's forum. Slayer later demanded -- and was given -- full admin access to another alliance's forum in order for him to snoop around and try to concoct the same kind of phony CB. Of course he found nothing, since the whole issue existed only in his mind from the beginning. He had a lot of people play along with him, and I haven't forgotten 'Who's Who'. Some have done their best to atone for it, and have admitted they made a mistake. Others would like to think that the matter is long-forgotten. It isn't. I was going to say that the lead up to that war was worse because the desperate feeling of impending doom was pretty bad, but the fact that so many people hailed and supported Slayer's actions was disgusting. Mind you, not everyone did, but most did and it was a sad, sad thing to see. The CB for the war wasn't even posted in the DoW and people hailed it anyway. I doubt half of the people hailing ever ended up seeing it at all. Say what you want about "new hegemony" this and "it's all the same" that, but I cannot see garbage like that happening in today's world. *edit i r gud typer Edited August 15, 2010 by Captain Flinders

SynthFG
There are a few Gre running away from green GGA and Val removing any legitimacy from our side in the NoCB war before it even started The shenanigans, dirty deals and political manoeuvring that kept gre out of the main fight in Karma and stuck us out on the fringes safely beating down IRON My first gov to gov conversation with Crymson when I came to the sudden realisation that TOP and Gre's paths had diverged so much that we were now on all but opposite sides Coming back from vacation to find that certain members of Gre gov had gone beyond insane and refused to sign the ESA for reasons that still make no sense, killing the alliance

Kzoppistan
Ah, airing our pain. How cathartic. Undoubtedly, it would be having just completed the war with Fark and GRE, riding high with Old Guard while polishing my cherished newly acquired title of Overseer of Zenith and then immediately losing my job, girlfriend, and apartment in the course of a few days and having to step down as leader. (Damn you, CN, this is somehow your fault) Then being forced to watch as Zenith crumbled despite the best efforts of some of our most dedicated and most accomplished members. So disbanding our alliance goes as number one. In fact, I'm still pretty torn up about it. Relatedly, it would be the few months before that in Zenith's darkest hours where disbandment seemed imminent (well, it was, just not then). While while the proceeding statement isn't entirely true, as there were a number of members who volunteered what little time they had, it seemed that I was the only one of a few (maybe three) holding us together since even the remaining founders had thrown in the towel, and experiencing the crushing burden of too much responsibility for months on end. Again, this wasn't the entire reality, but that's how it felt. We rallied again for a few more months but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I've had more embarrassing moments (such as drunken OWF posting or preemptively pulling Zenith out of SNOW ), but none that are really hated. *Edit: Oooh, being forced to wait while TPF was being attacked by Athens. That sucked pretty bad and we almost had a revolt by the members. **Edit: Any time a propaganda thread is opened and I utterly fail once again at producing anything worth a squat despite years of photoshop experience. ARGGH, how do they do it?! (Screw you, D34th!). Edited August 15, 2010 by Kzoppistan

Masterof9puppets
The only thing that comes to mind was when I was a fledgling nation and growing in CSN. I was invited to join SWF (Socialist Workers Front, for all you that haven't been around for > 3 years) and instantly attacked by 3 nations and ZI'd. GWIII. Also, when I finally got to 28,000 miles of land, up to the second largest land nation, and then sold all of my land. I really, really regret that one. Daeryon
When RoK attacked TPF out of the blue on Christmas Eve. We hadn't even recovered from being buried during Karma. The entire alliance was taken by surprise, especially since we had felt we did an excellent job being placed in terms, and paying our dues. And were minding our own business. It was even worse when we discovered that their "CB" involved something we supposedly did DURING THE LAST WAR...which we had already surrendered and paid reps for. To cap off a great experience, I think our longstanding allies NEW cancelled on us right afterward, basically calling us chickens after we had spent the better part of 8 months getting our butts whooped by overwhelming forces, and losing a great part of our membership. I'm still not clear exactly why they felt this way. There was a little while there when I wondered if there would be a TPF in a couple weeks. I have to tip my hat to Mhawk for keeping us together through that.
rrkilledme
I loved the start of noCB, but seeing MK, the alliance that I loved, getting defeated (even though I knew from the start that our chances were slim) was pretty disheartening. Rebounder
I hated that time after the Karma War in which I disappointedly found that CN was not only unchanged, but that the space between notable events actually increased in comparison to the "stagnation" under the Hegemony.
