Introduction: The Method(s) to My Madness

Hello Esteemed Players of CN! As this is my first entry to this blog (I admit I am an intense blogger), I will give an elongated introduction to my person in real life, along with where my origins to this game are derived from, and other 'stuff' that I think belongs in an introduction. First and foremost, I am 19 years old (born October 10, 1989 in Manchester Hospital in Connecticut) and it's been an interesting life in my opinion. At the age of three, down in the oh-so-wonderful state of Geor

An Intro to Solamnia: Part 2 (Solamnian Government 101)

The government of Solamnia is one that has shifted significantly over time since the first time the country was unified, but many of the titles have maintained their traditional, if not antiquated, names. The Executive Government of the Solamnian State This is the part of Solamnia's government that handles all nationwide and foreign issues. It is led by the Lord Magistrate of the Realm (LMotR), a title currently occupied by Lord Boris. The LMotR traditionally has final say in any and all dec

Vox Again, Naturally

(Ghostlin's note: this is the interview with Nintederek. I will have more, but I close the house soon OOC so I won't be really available. I may send out questionnaires if I have time and write a cute companion piece to this.) 1) Tell my readers where you have been in CN. Well, I've been a lot of places, so I'll just copy and paste what I usually tell people. My CN career started 900 something days ago. I was recruited on a certain other game which recently came out with a sequel by Ivan Moldo

ZOMG OOC ATTACKS

This is getting out of hand. For what it's worth, very few people in CN have much of an idea what I'm like offline. A geopolitical simulator/wargame/whatever this is is not a very good environment to get to know someone well. 'course, since I go by Haflinger in other contexts, it's possible if you feel like a stalker to figure out more about me. But I doubt anyone has. Anyway. When I criticize your character in Alliance Politics, it is by definition not an OOC attack. I am IN CHARACTER there

Treaties and You: Part Two, Drafting in Action

As it so happens, some friends of mine proposed a treaty recently. In this entry of 'Treaties and You' I'll take you through my thoughts and revisions regarding what some call a simple ToA. "Preamble: This ToA is signed in the spirit of good faith, friendship, and cooperation, in an effort to further the ideals of peace, understanding, and a better future for both alliances. Sovereignty: All signatories of this ToA are sovereign nations, and said sovereignty is not violated by any of the te

yay Friday

Today I stood at the window of my Maths classroom. I stared out at the rain, across the sodden trees and fields to the grey bulk of the sea. You know that sounds like it could really be a good stroy, but I can't think of what it is. Particuly as the next line would read, "I then turned round and looked at the question sheet and began to think the immortal phrase, "How the **** do you work that out?" Anyone have any idea's?

Tournament Reset

I was so exhausted last night. With it being Thanksgiving and all the to-do surrounding that it was also the reset night for Tournament Edition. As early as 9:00 PM I was so ready to go to bed but couldn’t because I needed to stay up to manage the reset. I made it until 10:00 PM and decided enough was enough, man invented alarm clocks for a reason so I set mine to 11:45 PM and sunk in to take a nap. Well my silly alarm clock didn’t go off but I somehow managed to wake up at 11:55 PM. The reset w

Welcome

Welcome all to my new blog. I hope you will enjoy it. I will be using my blog to write about CN economics, so you will regularly find information here in my blog that will help you improve your nation's economy. I will try to post at least weekly, but hopefully more often. Each blog entry will go over 1 single topic. If you have any requests for topics, please let me know and I'll try to accommodate the most requested topics. You'll probably wonder why you should listen to my advice? Well...

The War In My Pants

My brains have declared war on each other today. That sweet lithe young morsel named Cindy that helps me teach my kindergarten classes is the source of my two brain discord. Cindy, a 24 year old Chinese woman, makes sure the little people don't run so out of control that I have to beat them down with a large stick. She does this magical feat of herding little people with grace, style, and poise. I've never heard her raise her sweet lilting voice. I've never seen her glare at the little ones.

Crap CN Names = Crappy Prospects

I have seen some shockers in my time. Usually they're portmanteaux of viral video trends, anime characters and random numbers all strung together for a fleeting romance with CN only to declare that "CN is teh crap, THEIRS NO GRAPHICS!!!!" or some other unintelligible rejoinder to an argument that was never even offered. But it did get me thinking, Has a CN player with a crap name ever experienced success or fame in CN? Well, not really. I can't think of anyone that did or does. The narutofan20

The Development of Prehistory

History is a strange thing. Through time it takes on new meanings to new people as facts get clouded or lost and the atmospheric context dissipates with the passing on of eye-witnesses. The more time that passes, the more distant and abstract the history becomes. The result? In most cases the moment is passed and lost forever; but the big moments remain in the memories of those that they comes into contact with. Unfortunately, as I outlined, it never survives intact, and through the process

Back Again

I'm getting tired of the excessive blathering that goes along with this game. I keep seeing the same use of emotionally charged language to describe people and actions over and over again. I believe the philosophical term for this is called loading the language. This means using terms or phrases designed to evoke an emotional response by massively overstating your case, I think. A good real life example of this is calling someone Hilter after they did something you didn't like. Admit it peopl

Upon the Creation of an Alliance

Upon the creation of my new alliance, Soldier, I've been peppered with personal messages telling me various things. When I first created this alliance I didn't want it to be represented by a great score or large nations, rather what my alliance stood for and why the nations within this alliance should take pride in it. I've received numerous messages telling me that Soldier is bound to fail and that we should merge and adopt another alliance's charter and procedures for the sake of more member

How to Topple An Alliance.. 3 easy steps

1) Get the forum admin drunk and get compromising photos of him doing the wild thing with a goat. 2) Post photos on OWF with the declaration, "What about the Goats?" 3) Watch said alliance explode as everyone attacks them while they turn on themselves for having a forum admin who is a goat diddler. Vox?

Back when Vox first came into being I cheered. It was new. It was exciting and fresh. Vox delivered the goods in terms of entertainment and hope that Planet Bob could be something different. But in the end Vox has become what it fears the most. They've stagnated into a useless group of boring yakkers that have lost the interest of those they are trying to reach. Who really wants to read some ranting diatribe about something we already know? If global depotism mattered that much to us we'd have

Voting systems

Three candidates are running for Minister of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). The end polling is that candidate A got 40% of the vote, while candidate B got 35% of the vote and candidate C got 25% of the vote. Candidate A should get the MoFA position, yes? Think again. The vast majority of voting in CN, whether with in-game senator elections, or alliance elections for a candidate run into this problem, whether players recognize it or not. Let us take the following situation, and use it to explain th

Artificial Borders

Good day dear audience, today is a special day. Why special? Because it is sad, funny, enlightening and maybe even constructive. "Why?" you may ask. Because today something happened what I predicted some time ago and what should finally make clear that the fix which had been put in back then has only delayed the problem. What I talk about? Alliance Sanctioning and the artificial Member Requirement of 200 nations. Vox Populi has started a campaign to infiltrate the AA of TOP (The Order of the

Arrrrrrrrrggghhh.. Political boredom

Ladies and Gents of all ages welcome to the greatest/gheyest show on Earth! Have we seriously reduced this game to total utter bollocks? Looking over the forums I see thread after thread of announcements. Announcements.. Announcements.. But no DoWs? Where is a good bloc war when you need it? I've gone at least two weeks without blowing something up and I'm getting a bit annoyed. We are focusing so much time on the politics of this game we forget that the MOB needs to be fed. The MOB is de

Nuclear lipstick is bad!

This ... is rouge. This ... is a rogue. Please do not get the two confused, or I will be forced to start producing images that combine the first image with pictures of nuclear explosions to go with the next time I hear someone discussing nuclear rouges.
