Back Again
I'm getting tired of the excessive blathering that goes along with this game. I keep seeing the same use of emotionally charged language to describe people and actions over and over again. I believe the philosophical term for this is called loading the language. This means using terms or phrases designed to evoke an emotional response by massively overstating your case, I think.
A good real life example of this is calling someone Hilter after they did something you didn't like. Admit it people, you have to do some seriously messed up stuff to come even close to Hitler. Another way of loading the language in real life, and I see it alot, is when people compare events to the holocaust. Again, the holocaust was a horrific event involving the systematic deaths of millions of people. I'm sorry but comparing the situation in Iraq to the Holocaust is utter nonsense. In game we are just as guilty of loading the language.
Reading over the threads about Vox's latest shenanigans with trying to help TOP gain sanctioned status I've noticed them labeled as exploitive and abusive. Seeing this bothers me as I know what exploitation and abuse looks like. Having dealt with that in social services for a few to many years I've seen it up close and personal. This antagonizing of Vox, in my opinion, lessens us all for participating in it and having to read it.
Let's be a little more mindful of what we say in the future.
Unless it involves GDI. Feel free to unload your language on them all you want.
