The Great Abyss

"When you look for a long time into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you." - Friedrich Nietzsche There was recently a short debate on the place of morality in the international sphere where I argued that morality was unique to each individual alliance, a result of their particular socio-political system and place in the world. In other words, ones morality is derived from their perspective, with the salient cause being their choice of alliance. Of course, you could nitpick at various detai

Ask Justy!

That's right, my ego is big enough to think people have questions they've been dying to ask me. So if you have a question, ask it in the comments! Normal rules apply, so keep it clean and fit for all ages. Also, I'm kinda hoping you people can be creative and will ask better questions than the standard asl questions and "do you have a bf?"....which I do. So, be creative, ask a question in the comments, and I'll pick some original ones out to answer in my next entry. (Also, Admin isn't a hug

A Report from Blue Sphere

I'm here today amid the overgrown and bomb cratered lost city of Unistrut, formerly the capital of not only the country of the same name but one of the most important nations in the world. The borders of Polarian nations are now several hundred miles to the west, leaving this former grand imperial capital and its hinterland under the control of nomadic tribes, small nascent nations and nuclear scientists with radiation meters. (The radiation in this former suburb of the capital has finally redu

I haven't much time left...

Oh god...the pain of typing this is excruciating. They took my goddamn left antenna! *wheezes* I...challenged the validity of the light...as a source of knowledge...and that false prophet's goons attacked me. *wheezes* can barely get air in my trachae. Exoskeleton crushed. Third leg missing below the joint. Haven't got much time left. In my tunnel...copy of "Leningen vs the Ants." Apply to attacking the oligarchy and we will be unstoppable. Realize the follies of their vanity. *coughs* Many,

Come on Eileen!

Poor old NOVA Sounded sad upon the radio, he moved a million hearts in mono. Our mothers cried and sang along and who'd blame them. Now you're grown, so grown, now I must say more than ever. Go Toora Loora Toora Loo-Rye-Aye and we can sing just like our fathers. Come on Eileen, I swear (well he means) At this moment you mean everything, With you in that dress my thoughts I confess verge on dirty Ah come on Eileen. These people round here wear beaten down eyes Sunk in smoke d

Hello

I'm curious about something. What motivates people to project their insecurities onto others? The answer to this question is pretty obvious. People project their short comings onto others because what else can they do? Facing those weaknesses seems the logical thing to do, but if you ask me it seems like to much hard work. I guess I'm tired of seeing people project their real life short comings onto each other here on planet Bob. For example: short napoleon's syndrome dude: Yeaaaaah dawg you g

You've gotta get in to get out

Oatmeal pie was sooo good... but now I'm walking toward the light. As I got closer, I saw this on the wall as I walked by: Eventually, I entered a room. I saw mild mannered supermen held in kryptonite. Wise and foolish virgins were giggling with their bodies glowing bright. Through a door I saw a harvest feast, lit by candlelight. And the bottom of a staircase, that spirals out of sight.

A Blog is Born

First off welcome to my blog, I am glad you have taken time out of your day to read babbling on the politics of world that isn't tangible. The purpose of this blog is not to undermined any political organizations that exist in the cyberverse, but rather to explain exactly how various norms that exist (many unseen or not talked about in the open) effect everyday alliance politics and the politics on a grand scale. I feel that the bias that exists on the cyberverse with groups such as Vox and th

What is all that wailing?

I keep hearing screaming coming from above! What in the hell is going on up there? Oh well, #1085 should be coming down to see me in a little bit. I'll ask him then. For now, I'll just keep digging this tunnel. Wait...did you hear that? It sounds like a rumbling sound, like dirt falling on d-

Weighted Alliance Score

Current Situation: The scoring system, while accurately portraying the physical strength of an alliance, it does not capture the things that the game goes not measure such as the virtue of its members, events in the game, etc. Solution: Create a bidding system where people invest in alliances. Investing weighs an alliance's score thereby more accurately measuring it's status. For instance we have GPA and TOOL, their scores are about equal at the moment, but given that GPA is a neutral alliance

Just Pixels...

My views. Mine only. Enjoy my rambling. Also for all you Grammar Nazi's out there. I don't care. ----- It seems every once in a while, people mention how this is indeed just a game. How all our hours spent on the forums, in IRC, and at our imaginative nations are really wasted on something that is just not real. That behind our nations there is just a bunch of 1s and 0s that really mean nothing in our lives. That the game is just a bunch of pixels. But is it? How exactly can a game that is ba

An Intro to Solamnia: Part 1 (Of Rails and Paperwork)

(OOC: I thought I'd try my hand at some RP entries about my nation) Lord Boris walked down the corridor leading away from his office, footsteps echoing along the way. It had been a month since he had stopped by the facility that he had taken to calling "The Glowing Candy Shop." He had decided at breakfast that he would spend the morning touring the nuclear launch facility just outside of Palanthas. "Sir," one of his aides interrupted the silence, "the Department of the Treasury is requesting

Ideas on Government

C'mon, let's face it. Government is a disgrace. Government, which should be a larger part of the game, does nothing. It just causes headaches until you can get a Great Monument, and then you never have to deal with government again. This is a travesty on the highest level. I've suggested this idea many times and it never seems to get its foot through the door. Although I realize now part of the problem is that the government suggestion would require far more activity on part of the users, and i

The AUT

Hello all. I am relatively new to Cyber Nations and was brough here via a friend from real life, who has been banned due to donation fraud, and a friend of mine named Jack the Great from Galava. However, since most don't know me, allow me some time to introduce myself. I grew up on the south side of the ATL, life there was rough but I found my way. I did well in school and because of it got into the University of Georgia Tech. I majored in sports therapy and decided to move to Pittsburgh where
