Mainly sarcasm. I link damage stats as a lulzs response to "stat collector" as damage stats are a very important stat in my opinion That being said I truly don't like being sanctioned, and 100k NS milestones do annoy me, 1 mil are fine in my books but 100k is just unnecessary anymore in the days where nations are bigger then that. 100k NS milestone announcements are from a past time hence why I say 1 mil are more appropriate. Really, it just declares that NSO can intervene or declare war whenever they like ... something which all alliances can do anyway! If they did, they'd activate the other side's MDPs just like any other non-treatied entrant to a war. But now that the cool kids of yesterday aren't the same as today, you're all "like, yo know what FAN? We totally never hated you. You believe that, right? We were totally just pretending. Well, there was that time during VietFAN, near the beginning, where he was one of the few FAN people actually posting on OWF. This caused the Initiative/allies to curse and repeatedly say: "OMG, STOP WHINNING FAN!!! WHY DUNT U GUYZ CUM OUT OF PIECE MODE?" At that point, if I recall, Atrophis was flamed pretty badly. The flip-flopping phenomenon you have described has nothing to do with coolness really, it is just simple self-preservation (bordering on cowardice), and you know that a vast majority of rulers on Bob will always look after themselves first and foremost. Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with your sentiment, but if you expect a world full of brave rulers who express themselves honestly 100% of the time regardless of the consequences then sadly you are going to be disappointed every time. The only problem I have is people acting as though they always felt this way, as though they didn't enjoy beating the !@#$ out of FAN for the free tech when they could, and as though they were always secretly against the NPO and were always secretly rooting for FAN. It doesn't add up, and I know a lot of people are only voicing support for FAN now, because NPO has been marginalized, and hating NPO is now popular amongst everyone, not just the fringe. So, a little honesty would be nice, that's all. I know that people are all about self-preservation, but it's just sad, people do what they're told to do, or they follow the flock, and now since FAN is trying to play the Fonz, everyone else is just going to look at them and think "wow, how cool.. guns and a fake bad boy image! how original! It would be pretty suicidal for FAN to actually attack him, but boy is he asking for that. And yes, there are lots of people sucking up to FAN now who were either in or in support of alliances that were keeping them down, and who didn't say anything about it then.
