  1. /me runs and hides out of shame at not making a person he's never heard of laugh

Then again, I thought it was quite comical. And in the end, I'm really only here to amuse myself. If you can't find the hilarity in that, then you should probably get an appointment with a proctologist.

    I'm just sayin...

/me runs and hides out of shame because he isn't known by a person he doesn't know either

Apparently only people JWConner knows can post in a blog. Let that a message to all.

    ---> gratuitous smilie: :P

Btw, you post here to amuse yourself? Wow. Go outside. Just sayin.

    Anyway bye. Bored now.

  2. Ironfist, what exactly happened when the computer crashed? Did the screen lock and stay in that same exact position for hours on end never to respond with out rebooting? If so, I have that problem and have fixed it.

Not quite. I pretty much got BSOD. But tbh I think because they were in the early stages it probably had a lot of things like that which didn't go down well, whether it be blue screen as I have received before or the screen locking as you said. Upgrades have eliminated the problem, it seems, but it was very concerning at first, and I was seriously considering taking it back, but it was annoying because I bought it online (I love the irony of buying computers online).

  3. An interesting topic. For one, I think some of the limitations noted include degrees of intelligence.

Sure, it took "us" many years to do things we consider extraordinary, but that's assuming we're the limit of intelligence and that "aliens" if you will can only match, if not fail to come close, to that level of intellect.

The idea that attracts most people is the never ending possibilities. If there is life out there, and I believe there is, then who's to say they follow the rules our civilisation follow?

I find it hard enough to grasp the concept of there being senses other than ours. "Mind reading" was invented by our imagination, but surely any beings out there would have senses other than our 5?

  4. I'd agree with most of what's written in the OP. Protectorates are important because "n00bs" if you will, need help. I strongly dislike elitists who claim that anyone at all who hasn't been playing since 2006 or 2007 isn't worth the effort. Frankly, they're being naive.

New players are what drives CN to this day. Without them, it will die... quicker.

Older players reaching out and helping the younger ones is what makes this game so special. To help another unselfishly, by giving them a chance, is commendable. Protectorates will help the game along, no doubt in my mind at all.

  5. Big words are fine as long as they make sense. Who cares if they're self-promoting? I'd prefer someone to speak with a certain degree of class and flaunt their knowledge than sit back and use simple words to express their feelings.

I can relate to the annoying side of it too, however. It annoys me when people think they're better than they are and attempt to enhance their image by using a dictionary, but it's fairly obvious when that happens. Their words will look stunted.

If everyone decided to not use their intelligence to save face, what would the world look like?

  6. I for one love the nation building part of the game. Like ChairmanHal said, you get attached to your "little kingdom".

I enjoy the company of alliance friends while growing my nation.

I'm extrememly interested in the politics but have no desire to influence it in any way, just think it's fascinating how there can be such a passionate community on the internet.

Guess that makes me a Casual Empire Building Social Political Observer... player.
