Although this is not what Rush meant, all of you guys do give me a lot of entertainment during the times I'm: avoiding schoolwork, bored at break on work, or other times. Now that it's Christmas season, I just want to wish everyone of you guys a merry christmas. From the people I argue with on the OWF to the people I have genuine friendships with and everyone in between. Thanks for being here guys, because if it wasn't for you guys I'd have to collect stamps or coins
About two months ago, Methrage posed a question on these forums about Artificial Intelligence. I tried to get a good discussion going, but it didn't work out well. Recently I ran into almost his same argument in other places a lot over the last few days (irc, a philosophy forum, and a book). So I decided it was needed to try and set the internets straight on why scaling up in AI does not produce consciousness. I'm going to use Methrage's post as an example (and hopefully he'll respond), but it d
Imagine sometimes in the future a mad scientist creates some sort of super weapon. This super weapon will destroy all people and signs of human civilization. The mad scientist who created this weapon, interested in what kind of civilization would be founded afterwards, decides to provide a way for a small group of children to survive this apocalypse. He then asks you to provide five books from your collection, which will make up all knowledge for the future world. What five books would you provi
Basically, A British woman shared encouraging words with a reality show tv star who was being trolled in Facebook. This resulted in the trolls launching their verbal attacks against her. They set up a fake facebook account with her picture and began harassing her. Now the woman has obtained a lawyer and looks to prosecute those responsible. Facebook already shut down
So I've got Missouri going all the way (I loved their Baylor and both Kansas games). I usually throw in four or five upsets just to try and cover my bases. Unfortunately, my team Bama drew a pretty tough bracket. I think we'll struggle past a close game with Creighton, but I don't think we can get past North Carolina.
Who do you guys got going all the way?
Also, I set up a CN bracket group any of you guys can join if you want: http://games.espn.go.com/tournament-challenge-bracket/en/group?gro
1. Suck up to anyone in power.
2. Pick on people who are unable to do something about it. Very Important: DO NOT pick on anyone who has the power to do something about it.
3. When called out remember the lines "faux moral outrage!" and "do something about it".
4. Whine about how everyone is whining as much as possible.
When people on top of the CN social ladder claim that anyone angry about their bull !@#$ is trying to score political points. There are some of us out here who legitimately don't like OOC attacks and bullying people around. We don't have anything to gain by calling you out, but we do it anyway, because we believe what you're doing is wrong. So shut the $%&@ up with "omg faux moral outrage!".
So out of boredom I done some basic SPAM/MEAT stats. (with Gibs' help) They're not anything special, but I was bored and figured since others are bored I'd share.
So after NG's recent attack on SOS, I'm beginning to wonder if this is how the majority of CN wars will be kicked off from now on.
In the past, the CN community would look for legitimate reasons to start wars. Two sides would position themselves on the treaty web; usually, the larger side would then find some reason to declare on the smaller side and the war would start. These days CBs are harder to find. I would say partly because behavior that causes CBs is largely discouraged.
Over the past month or so, I have watched as MK and TOP defend their honor. It is for the first time I know of a race to see who can import the most tech. I love a good fair tech race and while I do not speak for TOP or MK, it seems they do as well.
I will not refrain from assisting my allies in the Mushroom Kingdom from winning this contest. I have tech that I am more than willing to give them
It should be understood that I fully support TOP and MK's right to have friendly competition, while
So I'm starting to wonder if FOK is an undercover Super Friend.
They have nearly rolled MJ, leaked a post about Ardus wanting to hurt SF, and now recently they indirectly caused people to vote to RnR's senate candidate.
Is there something we need to know FOK? If I were you PB, I'd keep my eyes on these guys.
So if FOK was a Super friend, which one would they be?
disclaimer: I am not being serious with anything up there I said. I like FOK and Cheeky is an awesome person.
So this will be my last blog entry for around 2 months, because I'm headed off for Navy basic. Just in case zombies over-run the planet and eat everyone or something I just wanted to give the following people some shout outs.
Gibs, Rush, Thrawn, Stagger, Xiph, DT, Osravan, Sgummo, Kubla, Randalla, Gambona, LW, Kain, Grievous, TL, Chimey, and Lizzy you guys are all super awesome. Everyone else I've met on the way was pretty cool too (unless I told you I hated you).
To GATO: I still love you gu
It has come to my attention that I am in control of around 40 black senate votes. If you really want to win your senate war I will accept candy, a puppy, or sexual favors.
I will also be willing to sell the votes for private access to Doomhouse secrets. Including a VIP seat during negotiations with Pacifica, an alert system for when you begin your next Pre-empt, and backstage access to Toad's Kitchen.
NoR....if you can't find any puppies, candy, or want to keep your virginity; just cancel on
Recently I've seen a lot of people not actually following treaties, but instead following sides. CSN had a declaration where they hit LoSS in the name of coalition warfare, Legacy followed CSN, Sparta recently DoWed NV for pretty much the same thing. I honestly think this is a dangerous way of declaring war.
If we continued to follow this style what is to stop....say...NPO from simply saying "Coalition warfare, we're hitting NpO". Now obviously, NPO isn't on that side, but anyone could now use
Thanks to the piece of !@#$ known as the treaty web (and no not Bob's program) I have realized that it's possible for NSO to fight with PB while Athens fights against them. I don't plan on seeing that happening, however if you ever get a situation where it can you know some treaties need to re-thought.
Even though this war has been extremely weird to plan out, I've had the most fun I've had in a long time. I can see some more interesting match ups down the road too.
Also if you still read th
After discussing with someone the possible sides of the next big war and who I liked and didn't like; I've realized people I like have stupid friends. Why do friends have to like people I hope burn? Way to go CN you suck!
So anyway, since I want feedback if you could have any of your allies cancel on one of their allies. What would you choose?
I don't want to visit old scars or start an argument on this blog so just keep those arguments out. I would however like to apologize to the Global Alliance and Treaty Organization for some of my actions as AC. I honestly didn't mean for things to turn out how they did. Some of it was very bad timing and some of it was me simply thinking I was better than some people there.
When I knew NSO would come under attacked I had already made my mind up that the treaty was getting canceled, because I t
Not Following a treaty is one of the worst things an alliance could do from the peanut gallery's standpoint, but I thought it be interesting to find out CN's view of not following treaties. Is there ever a reason to not follow a treaty?
So, I found some of these a while ago and I figured I'd share them here. Some of you really old guys may remember when the webs weren't so complicated. It'd be nice if I could find a MDP web of right before and right after every major war. (GATO keeps records of stuff like this) So far I've only been able to find a few and that was only with help from TimLee and a guy from #mushroom (sorry don't remember your name).
This one is a Pre-GW II web. It was around Novermeber, so about three months be
I decided to do this blog on words of wisdom from Kevlar, the great sasquatch:
Here the great one shows if you can't get people to do what you want get violent. Or he is saying the answer to everything is getting hammered I can't tell which.
Here the great one shows that even if you're a big fat guy who is hairy you can still be worth something.
Here the great Sasquatch even speaks to the like of...ewwwww Chris_Kaos. You are so compassionate mr. Kevlar.
While the meaning of these two wor
