MK and/or DH and/or PB and/or XX and/or SF is the new hegemony. The new hegemony is worse than NPO/just as bad as NPO/obviously not as bad as NPO but still awful. We need to evaluate our actions/to form a new Vox Populi/to make more blog posts about this.

XX, R&R, and the allure of power

There's a oft-repeated quote that says "power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely". Since I'm personally convinced that CN is a blown-up exaggeration of everything that goes on in real life politics and diplomacy (think of CN as NBA Jam and real-life as the regular NBA), I've come to the conclusion that this is an even more relevant fact in the realm of CN politics than it is in the world outside of these halls. It's pretty clear to say that at least the majority of the groups that

GOONS Tech-Raiding Policy Statement

As GOONS shifts from war into tech-raiding mode it has become apparent that Planet Bob needs to be informed/reminded of a specific aspect of our tech-raiding policy. From our publicly-accessible policy statement, one path to peace: I would like to emphasize two parts: 1) The war will be allowed to expire and everyone goes their separate ways. 2) Peace can be achieved sooner if the alliance accepting the target asks nicely. With this our tech-raiding policy should be clearer. Hopefully incid

Would You Do This?

Alright.....I need a bit of a run-up for this. I'm from Toronto, Canada's largest city. This is what our skyline looks like: That huge needle is the CN Tower. Now, I could give you the numbers as to its height and so on, but raw numbers mean nothing. Instead, I ask you to think in relative terms. See that white office tower just right of center? That's the Bank of Montreal building. It is seventy-two stories tall. Knowing this should help you appreciate the "holy-crap-that's-big" nature of

upgrading my entertainment :DD

Foreword: If you have Firefox, install InvisibleHand add-on I've finally reached a point where I'm earning enough to have some good disposable income, and through looking at a lot of deals, I'm getting some good stuff for cheap :awesome: First thing, bought this brand new 40 inch 1080p Dynex for $350. Yes, 350. Hell of a deal and I got it! It's not a well known name, but I believe people buy into that kind of thing way too much, and for only 60 more bucks it gave me a 4 year warranty. Wit

(1826-1)/365 = 5.

My nation turns 5 today. Rather then being some whiny kid who makes a stupid pointless forum topic, I figured I'd make a stupid pointless blog entry. Individuality helps. 5 years is alot of time, and I could have done alot with the time I've spent on CN, but I haven't, and I'm not crying over it. I've enjoyed my time here, and I plan to enjoy my time here into the forseeable future. I've made a reasonable number of friends, and perhaps an unreasonable number of enemies. It seemed that up u

Homeward Bound

Packing up my apartment of the last 12 years. I gave Southeast VA a pile of good years. But the industry that was thriving and fun when I arrived here has shrunk by probably half. So I am taking my mad export skillz and going home. Leaving behind a ton of memories. Hurricane Danny '97 - the former spouse and I out in the wind and rain trenching our backyard so the water wouldn't flood all his unnecessary crap stored in the garage and my thriving tomato-full garden plots. NPO/DH War Part Two

War was hot and heavy and I watched DH and allies from my coalition spout insults and what have you left and right on the OWF. I wanted to rage and let them know what cowardly !@#$%^&* I found them to be. Then once again I stepped back and took a good long look. I heard everything my side was saying about it and I heard everything the other side was saying about it. Its funny even when I think about it now, the rage wasn't really about what was done - it was that it was done to me. I re

Useless Phraseology

I've signed a lot of treaties in my time. And yes, I've written a few as well. Lately, however, I've come to realize that nearly every treaty contains the same nonsense, namely: The 'Sovereignty Clause' Is this really necessary? Does a formal agreement between two or more alliances not carry within itself the implicit recognition of all signatories' sovereignty? If not, then what's the point of all those signatures at the bottom? Decoration? Is there some sort of problem with alliances anno

NPO/DH War Part One

Many look at the pre-empt against the Order the start of the war. It however started long before that. It didn't start with the Polar bs either. Waters were tested when they went Safari Hunting on Red Sphere, testing to see what the NPO and Red Dawn as a whole would do. The response was nothing, because we weren't in a position to. We knew it was an attempt to draw us into a conflict, to see if we would honor the old Moldavi doctrine. At that time the world was put on notice, the NPO was g

Sovereignty

Dear everyone, Please look up the word sovereignty in a dictionary before attempting to talk to me about sovereignty. That is all. Thank you. PS. If you feel OWF discussion about politics is interfering with your ability to control your own alliance, then you have bigger problems than the OWF.

MK Hegemony: Why it must fall

The New Pacific Order and the Continuum fell from power over two years ago. The Karma War gave the game a much needed victory over an alliance and a power sphere that needed to fall. Of course weasel alliances like ODN jumped ship at the last second and never got their fair share of Karma, but all was well and good in the Cyberverse. It was nice to finally see the two year hegemony of Pacifica finally fall. As expected, a new hegemony took Pacifica's place. At first it was called "Super Griev

Views from a Regent - Intro

It has been two months since I was tapped for the position of Regent for the New Pacific Order. Entering during a time of war brought with it strange conversations and functions I often wonder if I am sometimes better or worse for. I guess it really depends on the day. I think what amazes me the most is how much so many of us hold onto the past. I am not just talking about friends and enemies, our even alliance members, I am talking about even myself. I know when I do that and then take a

Jim Tressel is gone from OSU

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/andy_staples/05/30/Jim.Tressel.OSU/index.html?eref=sihp&sct=hp_t11_a2 As a Michigan Football fan I have to say I am disappointed he was fired like this with sanctions. I'd have rather ran him out of Columbus the way we ran John Cooper out, by exposing his utter incompetence in big games. Also I think it would have been much more hilarious if this had happened on Good Friday that way OSU fans could crucify their savior on a more appropriate day.

GOONs nearly faced the consequences

Note: I'm shamelessly ripping off and slightly rebranding the Carlos Accords' "Derp of the Day" award to present one individual with the "Herp De Derp Award". While I should note that The Legion (their MoD specifically) ultimately ended up handling this situation a bit more intelligently than this entry's recipient, a few of the latter gentleman's comments nonetheless warrant this recognition. For a bit of context, a ghost flying The Legion AA - a ghost as confirmed by The Legion on IRC - atta

I've made my advance into the enemies territory. I'm at coordinates 10 Echo by 34 Delta as requested from my handler. So far there has been no enemy sightings or contact. I will continue along the back roads setting up observation post along the route to the first objective. Supplies are in adequate condition, and the new prototype rifle is in decent working condition. I will be posting my reports daily, as much as possible. Sniper Bravo 002334 signing out.
