Letum
Imperial Decree from the New Pacific Order Wars are a curious thing.A year and a half ago, the idea of a war quite similar to the one we see today (i.e, a war on the "Polarsphere") was handed around between a few alliance governments. This is not an uncommon event in the smoky backrooms of CNindeed, in the week prior to this war, I saw discussions and ideas of 4 completely different wars that could have happened (and I do mean different wars, not just different targets for this one). Most such ideas die in an embryonic stage, without much support. And this, too, did diepartly as Pacifica was fairly unenthusiastic for an assault on the Polarsphere, which quite handily made the numbers match-up impossible, particularly as said lack of enthusiasm spread to several other alliances as well. That was a year and a half ago.Since then, we had the quite spectacular Disorder War, wherein Polaris and allies used the existence of the aforementioned idea to launch an aggressive war against our allies. That was called a Casus Belli a case for the war. It is also what I would call Two sides that want to fight each other, and everybody knows it. If you have a rival that is a threat to you, you do something about it (militarily or diplomatically). That is just basic politics. The New Pacific Order participated in that war in defense of our allies. Interestingly, for said defense, we were singled out for an unusually harsh regime of punitive terms that were restricted the ability of our nations to reconstruct our lower tier for many months. There was no particular case for reps being made or any identification of what Pacifica was punished for, save for some throughout comments on punishing peace mode that sound fairly unconvincing from alliances that are perfectly willing to send masses of nations to peacemode themselves (and keep them there). The conclusion therefore is that either they are calling for self-punishment in future wars or that this act too, was just plain politics. Indeed, the Disorder War would have been impossible without this bit of Politics. The New Pacific Order was an unpopular alliance. Putting forth some terms that would satisfy a few alliances desires for vengeance was a fairly small price to pay for Polars coalition to amass the strength needed to overpower their rivals. It was an easy choice to make, and very little work to quickly affix your signature to a document that heralded your (at least temporary) supremacy in the world. And so Pacificas generosity in standing up for Polar was duly rewarded with being sold out, though in all fairness, I very much doubt that this was a thought running through anyones head at the time. But choices have consequences. We do not hold ill will against those that sold us out, nor for those that wanted to get at us in the first place (indeed, one of our recent treaties should display quite handily that we are not holding a grudge). The world is a hard place, and you do what you have to do to safeguard the interests of your alliance and your friends. The more successful you are, the more likely it is that what you have to do will leave your hands stained in blood. Some alliances revel in that. Some alliances will try to cover it up with thin veneers of justification. The Order is indifferent. We seek to bring Order to the world. It is not an easy task; it is fraught with set-backs, compromises, and having to tie yourself into the greater political web of this world. In the process of doing so, we find ourselves once again at a precipice so similar to that prior to the Disorder War. Once again, we have two blocs getting ready to figh it out for the simple reason that they are rivals, and one must be defeated for the other to secure itself from a threat. That is pure politics, and there is no more wrong in it than there was in any previous war orchestrated for the same logic. Once again, we have the prospect of people we are tied to participating in a charge against alliances within the greater "Polarsphere". Once again, we are invited to combat against an alliance we have no personal issue with, much as they have no personal issue with us. Indeed, we get along quite well. But this time, we have learned from history, and the consequences of that choice all those months ago have come full circle. This time, we arent going to be the nice guys. Rivalries need to be hashed out; be it on the battlefield or diplomatically. A failure to do so when one side has the upper hand will simply lead to the other eventually turning the tables on them, and reversing the processmuch as we saw in Disorder. We have little reason to believe that, should such an eventuality come about, NPO will not once again become victim to an easy political calculation: to be sold out for a short-term diplomatic gain. It is, unfortunately, a calculation that has little to do with whether we are disliked by the opposing coalition. They did not dislike us a year ago either, but a lot of signatures still litter the paper that forced NPO's nations into harsh submission. It is simply a case of Two sides that want to fight each other, and everybody knows it.And our allies have picked a side, so we will lend our support to it with the full weight of our military arsenal. We will not shy away from this responsibility by trying to dress it up in some faux morality or claim that we are only "defending allies". Unlike the coalition that attacked us last war, which is collectively trying to run away from any responsibility for their conduct, we are signing up to this aware of the full weight of our choices. It is our fervent hope that more alliances can learn to accept the responsibility of entering a war as something concrete, and not just an ugly obligation you "have to do" so that you can maintain a connection to the morass of the treaty web. We do not seek revenge or to mutilate political enemies. We do not seek any punitive terms, be it on those that supported them on us or or those who did not.We do not seek to force our opponents into an extended participation, or use it as an opportunity to settle any scores. We merely seek to bring for our own version of Order, one burnt pixel at a time. Many of you will doubtless be frustrated with us for this choice; but I promise you this: Once we have burnt down this entire world into ashes through Nuclear Fire, we will be the first to step up and help you all rebuilt in anew rebuild it with a vision of Order. Everything must die, for everything to be reborn. In both war and peace, the Order treats all equally and seeks to be friends with all. Some of you will simply come to know this friendship through nuclear love taps. The New Pacific Order hereby declares war on SNX in support of its allies.Lets make this engagement a fun one. To commemorate this event, comrade sir Paul has blessed us all with a sing-along war report, designed to conduct subliminal mental warfare upon you while you frantically press F5.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-kDqRKWeMcLetum,Emperor of the New Pacific OrderDungeon Master of OrderFrawley,Imperial Regent of the New Pacific OrderLord of Darkness,Imperial Officer of Military Affairs of the New Pacific Order
