sammykhalifa
So maybe I'm a few days behind the times. Not sure if anyone else has caught this or not yet, but I thought I'd pass it along. I tried to get onto our forums this morning, only to find that annoying godaddy.com racecar driver lady staring at me. A little research and I found out that all of iPBFree is not only down, but gone for good? http://tomlough.co.uk/post/815342111/hello-goodbye http://twitter.com/tomlough/ipbfree I'd love to hear if anyone else has had any issues or even uses this service. I'd love to hear that this is wrong and that everything will be back up soon. It's pretty hard to believe that our forums just blinked out of existance without warning. We're a pretty sleepy backwater part of CN ourselves, but I thought I'd share. I'd be willing to bet that this is causing problems for people other than us. Arrnea
iPBfree is gone. INT has lost their boards for the same reason (I hear they're working on new boards now). Nothing to do but move on to another host and start again. All the more reason to get some of your own (paid) hosting.
Duncan King
New Auric Armada lost theirs as well. I've been searching the net and found http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/316097-ipbfree-shutdown/ http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=135555099809797&ref=search Looks like one of their competitors is picking the corpse http://forum.jcink.com/index.php?showtopic=14491&st=0 This sucks. Ipbfree was my favorite free host. Edited July 16, 2010 by Duncan King

Little Fame Monster
Wow... they just did this with no notification? That is really screwed up of them to do that. I'm sorry to everyone who has IPBfree. Best of luck on finding a new host.
memoryproblems
Wow, that is very unfortunate, not only for larger alliances like ARES and Int who lost alot, but also for smaller alliances using these services who might throw their arms in the air and give up after losing everything. As for IPBfree, everything that shimmers is sure to fade, it is certainly unfortunate to have happened like this and I find it pretty crappy that the owners of IPBfree can't give any explanation to those who lost months or years of work. These alliances aren't the first to lose forums, they won't be the last, and I wish them the best in persevering through these struggles.
From the sound of it, they gave as much notice as they were given in the shutdown. Seems very sudden on their end, so I'm not sure what they could have done. Would be interesting to see if an explanation into what happened ever comes out. *EDIT TO ADD* According to the twitter feed of one of the guys from IPBFree, there's a lot of "Not legally allowed to say" talk. Sounds like they were forced to shut down by lawyers. http://twitter.com/tomlough Edited July 16, 2010 by Qazzian

If you guys haven't changed yet, and need a free forum, I'm pretty partial to Zetaboards. Lot's of support, mods, skins, and they have the internal shoutbox free now. Plus the Portal is a pretty decent way of doing alliance information.
AirMe
This is a tip to everyone to make sure you take backups of all your info regularly. Zoomzoomzoom
What a shame. Ipbfree was a really nice service to those who had no means to pay for hosting. It was also easy to use for those ill informed of forum managing.
