But don't forget that NPO is mainly a mass recruitment alliance. Something like 35% of our nations have been around less than a year. There's a reason why other alliances with comparable efficiency don't have it on the same scale, and that's because "high-activity" and "mass-member" alliance styles are generally thought to be at odds with each other.

Tbh, I agree with you; there is no real way that new alliances can compete with established ones, but that's a problem with the entire game and not just with the fact that older alliances have been able to develop better tools. (Well, I suppose mergers and those alliances who draw most of their membership from long term players have a chance to compete, though they often fail miserably... (Yes, SNX, I'm looking at you. Seriously, you brought Tywin back to save you? Kick him out and ask for a Pacifican Viceroy and you might actually get somewhere) )

The only disagreement I have with you above on at what point we start calling these "tools," full blown automation.

 

Whether it's pinging users who have failed to fill their slots, or providing instantaneously a most beneficial war opponent at the click of the button -- folks communicate and interact less with their alliance mates.

 

At some point you're no longer playing Cybernations and instead are just simulating a simulation. Pretty soon we won't have to worry about inactivity because we can just have Joe Schmoe press a button and he'll login every x days and send his aid out like a good boy.

 

I actually don't particularly believe NPO to have gone as far to not require users to login to their nations, but certain others I'm fairly less sure about.
