All those years ago a handful of us, driven by no ambition but just incredibly dissatisfied with the governments we encountered in previous alliances, made the decision to start up this alliance. Events would occur that would make it clear to us that merely being our own boss wasn't a sufficient purpose, and we'd adjust accordingly over time. The environment's changed quite a bit since we started, and within our own little neighborhood, we're no different. Many generations of members and allies have come and gone. When these anniversaries roll around and I sit down to type these up, my mind invariably drifts back to those folks and I get the strong urge to write a history papers' worth on them all, if only to make sure there's a record somewhere of what they meant to GOD, myself, or more broadly, the game itself. I'll resist the urge this year. They know who they are, and they know that they're loved and appreciated. I'm proud of what we've become and the community we have - I can already hear the "No !@#$?"-s out there, so I'll simply say that this has not always been the case. Our community internally and externally both has seen significantly worse times, and it's truly a blessing that it's evolved into what it is these days. One last thing - despite how god awfully ugly this place gets from time to time, and we all know it's getting particularly ugly as time moves on - I still love it, and I think that goes for my members as well. As !@#$%* and partisan as it gets, you're still a fun lot to be around. I think that's all that need be said here. It certainly would not have been the same without you around. It's a hell of a feat to make it 5 years, and you have done it with your own style. I always thought it was putting up fists, looking at the one to the right, and smiling smugly all "Yeah, that's my fist, you want some?". I hope they're not tumors or anything.
