  1. It's true that it doesn't require micro status, but in recent history, this type of action and independence is largely demonstrated by micros, and while all alliances may do so as well, most... don't.
  2. Like you said, an argument could be made for both cases. Especially if you want to argue about whether raids are considered aggressive action or not, whether they are government sanctioned or not, and even whether those raids were fully resolved or not. However, I don't feel the subject of "deserving" is necessarily a "stronger" debate, as that is a much more an argument of perspective and position, than interpretation of actual events. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter whether they "deserve" it, because generally, everyone feels entitled to their actions. All that matters is that it is happening, and whether the perpetrators, whichever side you may view that to be, are getting away with it without consequence.
  3. Very true. The problem is that it is so much easier to do nothing and ignore this, and we are oh so lazy. Even those who preach this truth at times find themselves attempting to exonerate themselves, citing treaty obligations, blind loyalty or coalition warfare, as if that absolves them from responsibility of the support they gave so willingly through the enabling actions taken.
  4. Glanced over this. Unimpressed. Then, read in detail. Well written. I'm a fan. Congrats to our allies in Kaskus and SPATR!
  5. If you're ever looking for a group of stand up guys, this is where they reside. Congratulations! o/ III%
  6. I feel like this is evidence of this treaty's illegitimacy. No edit on an Ellis post? What is this? There's gotta be something. An extra space somewhere? Has anyone checked the kerning? Congrats, y'all! o/
  7. For me, TSK is not the HB I once knew.
  8. What up, R&R. You're good folk. And here's one to the always classy Walsh the Beloved. o7 Red Ass Commander
  9. Oh, yes, it did, and I'm sure this is mostly irrelevant, but I'm just gonna leave this here.
  10. Congrats to those elected! First election, pretty exciting! :D
  11. Fire celebratory warheads in honor of NPL? Nuclear and armed, of course, it's NPL.
  12. I'm afraid you must be mistaken, and I am sorry if I've been misunderstood by you, as I simply responded to your personal perspective with my personal take on the world, whether it be right, wrong, deluded, naive, all or none of the above, but certainly it was not my intent to deliver to you a self-righteous speech, as I am not sure I'm qualified to give a speech on the topic, and for if there were one place that were not lacking in self-righteousness, it would be the space between your ears.
  13. A treaty is worth as much weight as you give it. And believe me, I, of all people, know you give it little to none. Treaties are not just the words on paper, but the weight of the trust they represent, and if every treaty is hollow to you, then those words are, and that trust is, just as hollow. In this world, we are little more than the words we choose, and I can hardly trust the hollow words of a hollow man.
  14. Sad to see friends part ways, but a hollow treaty is worth less than none at all, so I'm glad to see when treaties are modified to appropriately reflect relations. All the best to GATO, and TSA, may the product of the paths you've chosen be everything you've sought and deserve. o/
  15. Oh, snap. It's going down.
  16. Sounds like one hellova party. Congrats, NPL, on another year of nuclear... icity?
  17. It's a small sample size, but at least they're posts of support. I don't think respect can be gauged by an assessment of OWF posting. We've all seen vocal support for things that are clearly wrong, just as we've seen only a small minority willing to voice hard truths. Everything, especially something as abstract as respect, can just as easily be skewed either way by mindless hails or more vocal bitter and/or ignorant individuals. It's up to how you interpret what you see. I do agree with this, though: I haven't seen a mass exodus yet, so while whether or not they're respected may be up to interpretation, at least they're being tolerated for now... So far, so good, boys. XD
  18. I'd agree with this. It's all about perspective. Let's say a curbstomp is lined up and executed with this type of non-lopsided damage. For the stompees, when compared to how badly it could have gone, that sounds like a success story from the perspective of being able to limit and manage damage while facing unfavorable odds. On the other hand, for the stompers, you don't get to hit someone without suffering at least some retaliation yourself. You pay the price for victory, but yes, you get the victory by paying that price. And furthermore: Naturally, in most circumstances, you'd try to ensure a decisive victory before starting something. If we're going to assess things "in terms of damage dealt/received," then I guess the last few wars are examples of the instigators trying, but not exactly succeeding. Or perhaps the opposition being successful in their actions. Or a combination of both.
