Obviously there is a difference between 'necessary force' and 'excessive force'.

I don't see the point in making that distinction. There's no advantage to bringing less people other than a misguided sense of fairness. The point of war is to win. I don't thin for a minute that if the roles were exchanged and NpO had the upper hand, they'd intentionally withhold people just to give VE a fighting chance.

Besides which, there IS a strategy reason for it. Destroying the enemy faster with more force so they don't cause as much damage in return. More firepower means fewer losses.

Is there some unwritten rule somewhere that says that's what you're supposed to do? Is there a reason or an advantage to not planning on smashing your enemy other than ~honor~ or ~fairness?~ Like, you're supposed to plan to win, but only by so much? I really just don't get this line of thought. From my side it's more "Hey who wants to go with us?" and not "Oh man, we have twice their numbers, that'll be, like, so unfair! What will the OWF think?"

Yes there is another reason. That would be to keep things interesting, and encourage more fights in the future. Stagnation and boredom is of course the great enemy of Planet Bob, at least we hear everyone screaming and raging about it so often.

In counter to that point, this also gives anyone else looking to join a more opportunistic frame of reference, and more targets. The gantlet has been thrown who will answer the call?

Well, to be honest, sometimes sending in all the clowns at once can make a counter more likely, as it exposes more nations at one time. Limiting fronts means that you have more control over the targets and may make your opponent hesitant to make a move. It just depends on if there's enough opposition to handle the initial clown rush.

LOL, with the amount of bridges burned in the past are you really expecting there to be some serious rush to join the Polar side? Given the general consensus and opinion of them by the rest of the world, one would expect this war to be a 10 to 1 curbstomp by the end of the week.

I mean seriously what are the bookies giving for odds on when TOP enters for their piece?

100 to 1? I'll take 200 tech that somebody joins in with Polar. If all else I'll do it for 20,000 tech.

This is just like a blast from the past! VE being too much of wimps to call in all their allies, and FOK bandwagoning in as us usual!

Still now, we're waiting for all the cancellations of VE's alliances, with someone like PC exiting the war tonight.

True, this is also a good point covering the strategic reasons for limited engagement.

Excellent midday blitz FOK.

Tear NpO to shreds, but make sure they get their punishment they escaped last time.

I wouldn't exactly call it excellent with UINE nations being attacked 'mistakenly' they really should be more careful un needed cost for them.
