Today marks the New Pacific Order's sixth birthday in this world. And what a day it is; fresh on the heels of a major victory which marks the end of a long and dark age that saw this alliance re-examine everything it stands for in order to rebuild a shattered identity and shattered reputation.

We were hunted. We were isolated. Perhaps not unfairly, we went through trials that would have rendered most alliances extinct or a powerless ruin. But we persevered, we adjusted and we became stronger for it.

But year after year of focusing on survival means that there are many who have forgotten what it means to stand as a shining beacon of Order. An entire generation has been brought up never experiencing the glory of an alliance that is the envy of the world in diplomacy, economics and war. This must now change, and we can begin that change today. Today is our day of enlightenment, the day where we remember exactly who we are.

Above all else, the key to all the successes of the Order has been our system. A system of ideals, values, traditions and beliefs which begun to be established almost nine years ago, and have been refined ever since. This is our Francoist legacy; and it is much more than philosophical debates or political treatises. It is what we breathe in our everyday life, what we inherit from training (and re-training), from our leadership, from the comrade who stands beside us in our time of need, from the colleague that works hard to create something amazing - and it is this subconscious set of actions that we reinforce by repeating.

And, most importantly, this is a system we never lost, despite all our trials. And it is this unique identity that sets us apart from some of the inert masses around the world that call themselves alliances.

But to rebuild our place in the world, we must all better understand the roots of our past success. We must identify the pillars of this community, and the ideals which should guide everyone, from veteran to academy cadet. And we must also communicate this to the entire world, so that they know of the core values that define us, and the values which have let us escape our dark past and forge our new way forward.

So, on this birthday, we answer the following question. What does the New Pacific Order stand for?

Meritocracy

Meritocracy has always been the central tenet of the way the Order is organized. 6 years ago, a mass influx of very talented and active individuals set the bar: where other alliances might rely on who has been around the longest, or who can sway an electorate with the nicest words, or just the first person who is available, our ancestors decided that it would always be the best of the best who propel the order forward. Several years later, that system has resulted in a massive internal jobs industry, the likes of which no other alliance comes close to.

A quarter of the order contributes to our advancement through a position of authority, three-quarters participate in our economic and military systems. Paradoxically, this has also led to one of the largest and most persistent challenges for our alliance; we have *too much* talent, and it is not always possible to hand everyone the full authority they could do wonders in. As a result of this, the members of the Order are such a step above the rest of the world that most of our middle or lower management would be capable of serving as great leaders of outside alliances on their own.

Loyalty

If meritocracy is the pillar of our governance, loyalty is the pillar of our moral fibre. Pacificans always stand together, no matter the odds. Whilst most alliances will have a core group of friends whose bonds are strong enough to remain intact under challenge, what is unique to the Pacific is that these bonds extend to the entire alliance. This is why, in a war where other large alliances have shed members in droves, the NPO *gained* membership, despite being in arguably the toughest front of the war. It is why, after 2 years of beatdowns and reps, we are still the largest group in this world.

The key to this loyalty is, as mentioned, bonds. We are a community, we stick around for the company, for the friendship, for the concept of being part of something larger than yourself. This game, and others, are merely a way for that community to measure itself against the lesser masses by pounding them into the ground.

Democratic Autocracy
How do you combine a community that is full of talented people with myriad of ideas, with a community where members stand by each other, and by their leaders, no matter what? One of the greatest achievements of our Francoist legacy is being able to make full use of both, whilst minimizing the conflict between the two ideals.

We are all here voluntarily. We have each decided to collectivize our toils, our identity, and our future, in the image of this alliance. We go around and express ideas freely, we work hard in all walks of life, we debate, we argue, we even shout at each other. That is the purest expression of the power of the people. However, when the time for action comes, we unite behind a single purpose. We follow a strict hierarchy, and strike as one fist, no matter how many conflicting ideas were thrown around previously. We cover our comrade's back in the trenches and give him aid, no matter how much we may have shouted at each other the day before. It is a duality that, above all, requires discipline. The discipline to recognize that we are all family, and that family sticks together. The discipline to not allow base emotions of anger, envy or despair spoil that family. The discipline that is drilled into each one of us the moment we join, and every single day after that. Few other alliances have that discipline.

It is in this way that we manage to be an alliance for the people, by the people, yet still maintain the hierarchy of a sleek military juggernaut.

Adaptability

For all our emphasis on tradition and hierarchy, the Order has nothing that is too sacred to be changed. There will always be a better way of doing the same thing, or changing circumstances that need a response. At the dawn of the world, it was this adaptability that led us to define the structure of what a CN alliance is like - government, operations and traditions. After our first setback, it was this adaptability that led us to create the very idea of a treaty web, that now (for good or bad) lies at the heart of all politics. In our age of dominion, this adaptability reared an ugly face, with the development of mass warfare, mass coalitions and all forms of extreme punishment for those that stood against this Order. In our darkest age, we perfected upon internal processes that let us give out almost impossible reps, stand up to immense odds in war, and bounce back from each challenge undaunted.

It is no coincidence that the New Pacific Order was, by far, the best at rebuilding itself from 4 months of damage in the Doomhouse war. Nor is it a coincidence that some alliances were so damaged by that war that they had to effectively take a back seat in this latest - the same war where we were at the centre stage, taking on the toughest fight. And in our latest age, it is this same adaptability that has led us to gain loyal allies, and build bridges which would have been considered impossible at this time last year.

The Order thus begins its Seventh year in a much better position that it begun its last. We stand victorious, and magnanimous at the end of the battle. We stand internally strong and prosperous, beginning a rapid process of rebuilding. And we stand in a new diplomatic path, ready to stun the world once again. So strong is the Order's light that, when it was hidden, the rest of the world was overcome by a fatalistic obsession of the planet's impending death. On this day of enlightenment, we aim to bring back the flame that drove the world in its best days, and shake the establishment so as to bring back the excitement and challenge that nobody else was fit to create without us.
