Very honorable stance Europa, while I think FEAR was silly for escalating this in the first place, you did right by your allies.
I concur. Admirably summed up.

Of course, ODN loves war with FEAR, so we're not mad at them or anything for the escalation.

i dont know which to pick. can i check both?
Go for it.

Anyway, if Europa don't want help for whatever reason, that is their choice, I don't suppose they are preventing their allies from coming in if they wish to but would rather they didn't, is that right?

Why should treties be black and white? Each situation is diffrent.

The real reason is that none of these alliances have had their government log on since the affair started. The Wolfpack can't run without the Shaman.
Actually, no. They'd all found ways to enter via our treaty, there was no need to vote to honor them.

@ the OP, the OP's allies, heck even NEW and their allies, please for the love of Admin re-write all your treaties to include either Optional Defense or Non Chaining.

Any treaty with the words Mutual Defense means just that.

This war should really be called "The war of worthless treaties"

The treaties that we are discussing right now do have Non-Chaining/Opt-Out clauses. This was discussed earlier. Keep up.

Because the treaty was written black and white. Why have a treaty at all if the interpretation of the treaty is dependent on the situation?

Small Tip to Europa's allys... I look at it like this.

Its your girlfriends birthday party this friday night and you know its going to be lame and want to be somewhere else fun. Your girlfriend says "its ok baby its only going to be a lame party with my friends anyway you dont need to come and be borded just run on off with the boys.

For a split second you think wow this chick is so cool she gets it!

...and then it dawns on you...SHE IS WAITING FOR YOU TO SAY "NO BABY I WOULDN'T WANT TO BE ANYWHERE ELSE BUT BY YOUR SIDE - I'LL BE THERE!"

ps...please escalate this war i'm bored :awesome:

Just think of how awesome it would be to FINALLY have no damn clue whats going to happen once war breaks out....and the causalties

Atleast i get to buy my first wonder in over a year when this "war" ends
If the chips had just flown in from the start, we could be looking at that war, yet, it hasn't, and wont happen in our life time friend.
Also you might want to hold off on that wonder, we have a party to attend first.

When you ask for war...

run away kicking and screaming when others bring it to you and avoid it at all costs.

Wait is that how the adage goes?
Strawman, but whatever.

I've rather enjoyed the extended peace. Just saying. :smug:

The treaty was forged out of the mutual consent of two parties, can it not also be amended as such?

I don't think you're all getting it. We are literally arguing with our allies to stay out. They are a bit upset with us for not letting them in.

What
Article II: Warfare

An attack on one signatory is considered an attack on all others and shall be met with proper retaliation. However, a signatory may refrain from defensive warfare with the consent of the remaining signatories.
What
An act of war upon one signatory is to be considered an act of war upon the other and will be responded to with all available force. Each signatory agrees to provide any and all information pertinent to the defense of the other. Neither signatory is obligated to defend the other through actions as a result of other treaties.
Although I must add that the treaty with Wolfpack/UDB/TLK lacks any obvious opt out/non-chaining clause, might want to fix that.
Or point it out.

But yeah, it's still Europas decsion to ask them to stay out if they wish.

Aye, and those aren't the updated treaties. We've made minor adjustments to most of them in the last month or so, and didn't feel it was a big enough deal to post on OWF.

And Wolfpack treaty is covered by the BFF charter, as posted earlier.

It still baffles me that people are staying out of this war. Nobody is giving anyone terms (Iexcept maybe NEW) and nobody will throw everyone else into enslavement. It's a war for fun for admin's sake. Kill, peace, and then go back to normal. That's it. You literally have no reason not to join in. It's war -enjoy it.

I don't see anything in WP/UDB/TLK treaties that is open to interpretation depending on the situation, WHAT? :smug:
