Sargun II
"Tied for third, boys. Our defence looked stout out there today, but the real test comes tomorrow!" The Sarnunga team is excited about a tie to start the tournament, but the real talk is about facing Tahoe tomorrow. They sang the same prayer as before the first game and went into practice with extra vigor.

Transvaal Tahoe got off to a good start in the 2010 World Cup with a dramatic win over Rhodesia. Tahoe's fans, known for being unrully and disrespectful, cheered the entrance of the Rhodesian team, a rare event for anyone playing the Celtic Bhoys in Green. Tahoe's defense looked strong and superstar midfielder Kieth Andrews of Tahoe Premier Cup Champions Real Salt Lake knocked in Tahoe's first goal of the game in the 23rd minute on a one vs one breakaway. Foreward Seamus Loingeas added a second goal in the 62nd minute to go two up on a Rhodesian team who had a hard time advancing past center field. Tahoe's fans booed as Coach Kyle MacDonald pulled his star players from the game in the second half, though he explained in the post-win press conference that he did so to keep them healthy and without any penalties going into the game against the Sarnungian Republic and futher throughout the opening round. Firewater
"...well, our defense wasn't good enough to get us the win. I understand that this was our first game, and everything is a bit tough with the quality of the stage, but at any rate things should get better, now that we have a feeling for the atmosphere of this tournament." Fitting words for Debate Land's coach after his team gave up the most goals they had given up in their short stint in the cup. The normally tough defense was simply overwhelmed, and after a ugly goal a few minutes in, the jitters and shock on being on such a large stage got to this young team. Either way, the 4 goals allowed was the most the team has given up in the entirety of the tournament. The defensive players have vowed to get better, and as fans nod understandingly when they are interviewed, but knowing of the offense's inability to score are very concerned about the rate of the tournament, if it continues on the path that was seen tonight. Kevinho
Despite the present diplomatic issues with travelling to an IRON nation Kevodia's national team convened in the Traansvaal for the first time since last March. This time the team was noticeably without any presence from Keville United's players, as United cannot release their players during the Liga Mundo run-in. This was a far cry from the days when United dominated the domestic scene in Kevodian football. National squad manager Ron Bassetson commented, 'Its a funny old situation alright. I'd love to have that Lobadov lad playing for me, as well as Ted Rotenston, Allan MacKean and the rest, but the lads we have in the national squad are just as capable. However its unfortunate that we don't have any of the fans down here to cheer on the lads as yet due to the diplomatic situation. Hopefully this can be sorted soon to give the lads a boost.' Bassetson's side played out a rather dull 1-1 against Jutopia, although there are plenty of matches to go and hopefully plenty of opportunity for a breakthrough. Manetheren
In the post game press conference, coach Kyle MacDonald applauded Tahoe's tenacious defense that once again stifled the opponent yet stressed he would encourage his team to increase their offensive pressure in upcoming games. Coach MacDonald was quoted, "We are doing a great job so far and hope to keep the momentum going against a weak Espana squad tomorrow before we start facing some of the more competitive teams in the prelims. Our goal is to win our games day by day and that is what we are focusing on but we are definately looking to sweep through our pool with strong preformances that will carry us into the playoffs." Forwards Seamus Loingeas and Robbie Keane scored in the 59th and 69th minutes respectively.

In that case the Kevodian Foriegn Office apologizes for the ahem, administrative error, caused by loss of data after a nuclear explosion, and has cleared travel to the Transvaal for the tournament. However, the arrival of the Kevodian traveling army did not prevent a bore draw against Viniland, prompting fears that the Kevodia side are perhaps Sam Allardyce's Bolton in disguise. Firewater
Debate Land was dissapointed in their second loss in the cup. While they still had many games to play before they would be eliminated, the grumbles about the pathetic offense grew, the more that the team had been unable to score any goals, and if records were correct, had not scored more than 1 goal a fraction of the games they had played in the cup... Ezequiel
After losing yet another game, the Head Coach Javier Hogart of Espana was caught throwing his hat on the floor and stomping on it. After the game ended he had a talk with the players about how disappointed he was in them for losing two games after making it into the Cup. At the end, he made a statement to the team... 'You WILL win this next game against Tahoe, or you will see a horrible next season with brutal training. Now meet me back here at 0700 hours to start practicing.' After leaving the locker room, he is stopped by press... 'How do you feel about losing two games in a row?' the reporter said. 'I feel ashamed by the team, after making it into the Cup we cannot be playing this horrid... But we will defeat Tahoe in the next game.' H.C. Javier was quoted saying. OOC: Really? I lose the first two games in the last one, then the first two here as well... I think we need better training Edited March 3, 2010 by Ezequiel
