2014 Cybernations World Cup

 

Hello once again everyone, the FIFA World Cup in Brazil is only three short weeks away, and it's about bloody time to start prepping for our own version of that.  And I promise 95% fewer social protests.

 

Sixteen teams have already qualified, and are listed on the wiki - they achieved this through past results, weekly update achievements, and overall score.  We still need another 16 teams, and that's where qualifying comes in.  Alliances seeded 33-64 will face each other in a one-game series, with the winner facing an alliance seeded 17-32 in a two-game aggregate series.  (Alliances who already qualified are ranked 1-16, so TOP in 12th place by score, is ranked 17th).

 

Matches take place over four days, and for each 0.10 in cumulative score, you get one goal.  0.09 = 0 goals.  0.10 = 1 goal.  Two exceptions:

• Your own gain is capped at 0.25 per day.  (See: Realm of the Rose below)
• If you lose score, it's transferred to your opponent as a gain, once again capped at 0.25 per day.  (See: TDO below)

If we don't get enough goals to make this interesting, I might fiddle with the numbers in later rounds (though we should see bigger gains from the larger alliances).
