[/quote] the race used to be one large conglomerate but as the qualifications to be in the sanction race are to have over half of the lowest sanctioned alliance score the alliances at the bottom are in truth still months away from sanction at best so the tier system shows who is actually racing for sanction and might achieve it with a small merge or a growth spurt while the alliances below tier 1 or 2 are farther away and more unlikely to achieve sanction soon without some major event. It could be Atlantis though. MCXA might be the third one there. I dunno. GPA, NPO, TOP, MHA, Sparta and GATO all have. I think the first GOONS might have had it at some point. I don't know of any others, though there presumably were. Atlantis was sanctioned when they disbanded. I think the first VE was as well. Who was in 1st during GW1? I know NPO lost it, but I don't know passed them. Also, I forgot to mention Legion. They had first place for a short time afterwards because the NPO was only barely passed by them and retook 1st in a few weeks, although Legion reclaimed first about a month before GW3 and lost it after they lost the war. All the alliances who held first at one point from earliest to latest are as follows: GATO (1/06), NPO (3/06), Legion (7/06), GOONS (7/07), GPA (12/07), TOP (5/09), Sparta (2/10), MHA (4/10) I'm pretty sure that's it, may be off by a month or two in some cases. [/quote] VE was ranked #5 at the time of disbandment, if I recall correctly. As for fastest, that looks pretty accurate. I know the title is held by one of those merger-hogs. I also vaguely recall seeing something about how Rok was literally 1 day slower at achieving sanction than Atlantis was but i may be wrong. As mentioned, I wanted this to be for alliances not in the Sanction Race, so this will only include alliances ranked 50 & above who aren't in the ASR. If memory serves me correctly, there was some discussion previously about race favourites being eliminated on the first day because of dumb luck, and this killing their final ranking due to their early exit (even if their later stats were amazing). It was more an issue with the Last Man Standing format, but I recall it for this one as well. What we're going to test out is a double-elimination format - your first last-place result doesn't get you kicked, but your second out/penalty/wicket/strike/redcard/whatever sends you packing. It should give some alliances an extra little chance if they slip, but shouldn't prove to be too forgiving. Ties, as always, favour the alliance with the lower score. We probably won't have any immunity for this round, but that's not etched in stone. These alliances aren't finalized, as I know it's pretty tight around 50th place. If I got colours wrong, just post and I'll correct it. And if anyone wants to design a logo, feel free.
