The Big Boss

No, I ignored you because this question has been answered on a number of occassions. I have even directly quoted Asa in the past saying they had come forward about white peace and still denied that peace was ever offered. It has always been on the table. WTF has the ability to end the war, but they choose to fight on. This argument is hilarious and futile.

Ah OK. You got me confused when you said that the WTF would have been "keeping the DBDC at war". It seemed like you were saying that the WTF was refusing to consider discussing any deal to end it.
I now see that you instead meant that the WTF just didn't agree with the specific offer the DBDC had made to them.
Thanks for your explanation.

The ball was put in WTF's court, and considering they have offered nothing within reason or anything at all, they are the perpetrators at this point. WTF is only damaging itself at this point and to expect DBDC to pay for self WTF's inflicted wounds is troll worthy.

Ask your government if they'd accept white peace after being attacked for no reason, I'll wait.

That point is irrelevant, the fact remains they were offered white peace, and they refused. Yes, they have every right to refuse, but they don't have a right to complain that DBDC is evil and out to destroy them when they have, in fact, given them an out well before this escalated to the point it has, and if they have proven anything, it's that they could have easily rebuilt back to what they had lost.

Now I'm not saying that they should or should not have fought back, but the fact that remains is, they made a choice, and they don't need to complain anymore at this point.

Nobody chooses anything, it just happens. It's likely that a wheel of alliances who have never had any war was spun and they unfortunately got selected after the knife was thrown.

It's more likely this is a systematic attempt to clean out the top 250 nations than just poor luck, do you actually believe what you manage to type?

They didn't choose to be attacked.

They have chosen to refuse white peace and to continue fighting, therefore all the damage they are taking from the point of time in which they refused white peace is entirely on them.

Franz the thing is Polar plays the military game so like every other alliance, sometimes we get burnt. That's fair enough.

WTF didn't and never were a threat so IMO the DBDC attack was bad for the game.

Others will have a different opinion and I respect that but it's how I see it.

I respect that Polaris get engaged in fighting and can fully appreciate the sacrifices that you guys have made. In regards to your comment on the DBDC attack being bad for the game, please explain why this is the case noting that World Task Force have spent practically the past decade giving off a "holier than thou" vibe and not wanting to actively get involved within the world.

My view is that at the end of the day if you want to stay isolationist, it's fine but they should remember the following words by the Pastor Martin Niemöller:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Now we get to the interesting discussion :D

Firstly

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I absolutely agree it's a valid point.

BUT...

This is OOC and I think having alliances not caught up in the web gives people another way to play the game. They also bring in and mentor new players and just as some players will drop to the neutrals to try it, others will flow the other way at times.

We're too short on players as it is and losing more is hurting.

The other aspect is donations. I have written code and I know this game people like to criticise has cost admin some serious time. Time is money and what ever he gets in donations, he earn't.

Already I know many who have stopped donating because a donation just pushes you into territory where it costs you years of work. You think this wont have stopped more people?

Honestly I want admin to make enough money that this game still matters to him!

I understand the point you are making but it comes so close to Godwin's law that it makes the whole discussion about an online game look silly.

Just to divert the topic away from that I will thus offer an alternative by Maurice Ogden:

Into our town the Hangman came,
Smelling of gold and blood and flame.
And he paced our bricks with a diffident air,
And built his frame on the courthouse square.

The scaffold stood by the courthouse side,
Only as wide as the door was wide;
A frame as tall, or little more,
Than the capping sill of the courthouse door.

And we wondered, whenever we had the time,
Who the criminal, what the crime,
That Hangman judged with the yellow twist
Of knotted hemp in his busy fist.

And innocent though we were, with dread,
We passed those eyes of buckshot lead;
Till one cried: "Hangman, who is he
For whom you raise the gallows-tree?"

Then a twinkle grew in the buckshot eye,
And he gave us a riddle instead of reply:
"He who serves me best," said he,
"Shall earn the rope on the gallows-tree."

And he stepped down, and laid his hand
On a man who came from another land.
And we breathed again, for another's grief
At the Hangman's hand was our relief.

And the gallows-frame on the courthouse lawn
By tomorrow's sun would be struck and gone.
So we gave him way, and no one spoke,
Out of respect for his hangman's cloak.

The next day's sun looked mildly down,
On roof and street in our quiet town
And, stark and black in the morning air,
The gallows-tree on the courthouse square.

And the Hangman stood at his usual stand
With the yellow hemp in his busy hand;
With his buckshot eye and his jaw like a pike,
And his air so knowing and businesslike.

And we cried: "Hangman, have you not done,
Yesterday, with the alien one?"
Then we fell silent, and stood amazed:
"Oh, not for him was the gallows raised."

He laughed a laugh as he looked at us:
"Did you think I'd gone to all this fuss
To hang one man? That's a thing I do
To stretch the rope when the rope is new."

Then one cried, "Murderer!" One cried, "Shame!"
And into our midst the Hangman came
To that man's place. "Do you hold," said he,
"With him that was meant for the gallows-tree?"

And he laid his hand on that one's arm,
And we shrank back in quick alarm,
And we gave him way, and no one spoke,
Out of fear of his hangman's cloak.

That night we saw with dread surprise,
The Hangman's scaffold had grown in size.
Fed by the blood beneath the chute
The gallows-tree had taken root;

Now as wide, or a little more,
Than the steps that led to the courthouse door,
As tall as the writing, or nearly as tall,
Halfway up on the courthouse wall.

The third he took — we had all heard tell —
Was a usurer and infidel,
And: "What," said the Hangman, "have you to do,
With the gallows-bound, and he a Jew?"

And we cried out: "Is this one he,
Who has served you well and faithfully?"
The Hangman smiled: "It's a clever scheme
To try the strength of the gallows-beam."

The fourth man's dark, accusing song
Had scratched out comfort hard and long;
And "What concern," he gave us back,
"Have you for the doomed - the doomed and black?"

The fifth. The sixth. And we cried again:
"Hangman, Hangman, is this the man?"
"It's a trick," he said, "that we hangmen know
For easing the trap when the trap springs slow."

And so we ceased, and asked no more,
As the Hangman tallied his bloody score;
And sun by sun, and night by night,
The gallows grew to monstrous height.

The wings of the scaffold opened wide,
Till they covered the square from side to side;
And the monster cross-beam, looking down,
Cast its shadow across the town.

Then through the town the Hangman came
And called in the empty streets my name -
And I looked at the gallows soaring tall
And thought: "There is no one left at all,

For hanging, and so he calls to me
to help pull down the gallows-tree."
And I went out with right good hope
to the Hangman's tree and the Hangman's rope.

He smiled at me as I came down,
To the courthouse square through the silent town,
and supple and stretched in his busy hand,
Was the yellow twist of the hempen strand.

And he whistled his tune as he tried the trap
And it sprang down with a ready snap—
And then with a smile of awful command,
He laid his hand upon my hand.

"You tricked me, Hangman!" I shouted then.
"That your scaffold was built for other men.
And I no henchman of yours," I cried,
"You lied to me, Hangman, foully lied!"

Then a twinkle grew in his buckshot eye:
"Lied to you? Tricked you?" he said,
"Not I. For I answered straight and I told you true:
The scaffold was raised for none but you.

"For who has served me more faithfully
Than you with your coward's hope?" said he,
"And where are the others that might have stood
Side by your side in the common good?"

"Dead," I whispered; and amiably
"Murdered," the Hangman corrected me;
"First the alien, then the Jew...
I did no more than you let me do."

Beneath the beam that blocked the sky,
None had stood so alone as I -
And the Hangman strapped me, and no voice there
Cried "Stay" for me in the empty square.

Same message, but removes any connotations which could derail this topic.

Of course, and I fully understand this however at times when the pool shrinks, focus will start shifting to those who are not as well tied or are neutral because they will be seen as growing without having shed blood for their efforts. In addition I hope that Admin also has enough to keep the game going because otherwise we wouldn't be able to have this discussion that we are currently having and would have to use the time that this game fills on other ventures.

Now if World Task Force were interested in ending this, it might be worth them swallowing their pride and getting back around the negotiating table with Doombird Doomcave. That way, they can rebuild and everyone can move onto the next hot topic. Edited by Franz Ferdinand

Has it occurred to anyone that winning this game now involves developing a strategy to destroy DBDC? They have positioned themselves as the "end boss" of this video game.

And before DBDC it was the untouchable neutrals.  Kudos to DBDC for all they've done to demolish the neutral menace who collected their pixels while the rest of us all destroyed our own.

One of my primary motives of joining Blood Pack was to bring the new experience of war and challenge to the World Task Force. At the moment it is having the desired effect and similar to historical coalitions, the tree known as the World Task Force are simply having their branches trimmed so they don't get too cumbersome in future. World Task Force is welcome to fight back, and believe me I believe it would be welcomed. The culture of this game is that respect is gained from fighting and taking it like a man instead of cowering. It's how friendships are made, and kudos is given out.

You realize this makes absolutely no sense at all?

By your logic, if I walk up and sucker punch you, lay you out on the ground, all I have to do is offer to quit at that point, and if you decide to fight instead, YOU are the aggressor?

It doesnt work like that. Not in this world or any other.

I felt the quotation was appropriate for the situation, to be honest.

Terrible judgement. Really terrible. Not only did you Godwin the thread but you appear to be calling *your own side* Nazis, without a hint of embarrasment.

To defeat the big boss you need to unlock the super secret double jump backlip attack and you have to get the secret sword from the 3rd level and the magic wings in the hidden room in the 9th world.

Don't bother to try unless you have both items and that technique down, you'll just be wasting your time.
