The Marscurian Players were ecstatic over their victory against Las Malvinas.

"They played a good game," said the coach, "but we ultimately just tried harder. I want to wish Las Malvinas luck on the last game of the round, and we look forward to facing Revelstone next."

The team was heading out for a nice dinner tonight, followed by hitting up a discotech, and then going to bed early to be ready for the next day.

In what was perhaps the greatest upset sonfar this tournament, the Republic lost to J Andres, where many inthe Audience, including this reporter,'believed it should have ended tied. J Andres took a 61st minute lead with a stunning cross over from right forward to the center for a header by tue center midfielder. However, in stoppage time, 92nd minute, the Ravers get a final chance to come back with a corner. Perfect placement and and a perfect reception for a header in, however the referee called a foul on the goal and the goal was disallowed. The referee did not elaborate onthe penalty, even though replays of the goal clearly show two J Andres defenders attempting to hold back a Republican forward, the one who made the header.

Thee Cochin fans were jubilant after their thrilling victory against the United States of America borne upon two magnificent goals by Rithu KS. "Yes, it was indeed an excellent game played and our determination and training gave us the decisive edge. However we have no reason to be complacent, we are tied with 4 points and same goal difference with the Koryo Confederation in the group. To advance to the next stage, we will have to play harder and smarter against Romanov Federation," Anthony Pereira, Captain of the Cochin National Football Team said.

The entire Commonwealth seemed to be in an uproar since the game. The NPC was able to topple a giant in their latest game, with much of the credit going to Wellington, who scored off a pass from team captain Horne.

"We made it clear that we would be revising our playing style and our attitude for our game against France and we showed the world tonight that we aren't some team that you can guarantee a win with. We came out hard and my hat's off to the French side who played a hell of a game. I believe this team has made a lot of history our first time in the Cup and hopefully we can keep it rolling."

Minilla Island Gaffer Paul Spruyt, exploded in the dressing room after the match with York. "You guys simply did not show up. That performance was pathetic. You had better run the table with Zargathia, because that will prove whether you love that kit you wear."

When the last whistle was blown, pubs across Atlantis practically exploded amid the shouts of joy from the football fans. Celebration and jubilation were rampant for the next few days, with Atlantis flags literally being flown everywhere. The game was considered the greatest achievement by the Atlantic international football squad considering the Republic of Tahoe's status as a premier North American football team. Tying such a good squad and holding them to no goals rejuvenated the feelings of love for football in Atlantis. In a recent poll, the amount of citizens who knew Atlantis had a football team jumped from 6% to over 86% after the Slavorussia and Tahoe games. Tied for first in their group, it was quite possible the Atlantis team would be advancing to the knockout rounds in its first appearance on the world stage.

President Ty Eyvindsson personally called up Tahoe President Darragh McDonnell to congratulate him on a well-fought match. "Both our teams played well and I thank you for the excellent match. Perhaps we could use this game as a starting point for normalization in relations between our countries. I invite you to our capital to discuss that and more, should you wish."

Darragh McDonnell was handed the phone by his aide after stepping out on the balcony of the Presidential Mansion in Cruachan. McDonnell had only moved into the house a few days ago and was still surprised at times that he lived here. Looking over the gardens and lawns that led from the mansion down to the Sacramento River.

"McDonnell here. Why hello President Eyvindsson. Yes I did just watch that bloody game. Horrible if you ask me though I suspect you don't feel the same way, eh?" The President laughed, "No, its a bloody shame that North America's premier soccer side should look so inept, but yes, on that note I would love to visit you and discuss soccer and normalization of relations. Both are equally important, I think."

Fans in the Greater Japanese Empire were in ecstasy. Despite the shoddy results in the previous Cup of Nations, their team had actually managed to have some initial success. The rings of 'Nippon Banzai!' were heard throughout the nation: in government offices, bars, and households. All across the nation, national fervor was at the highest point since the founding of the existing state of Japan as it was now.

“Two ties and loss means another disappointing exit for Louisiana from the Cup of Nations tournament. Obviously changes need to be made for Louisiana’s team, which will start now. The current coach of the Louisianan Pelicans has been fired as well as all his coaching staff. Hopefully new blood will succeed in making Louisiana a quality soccer team.”

"It had been a disappointing Group Stage for our team, with two hard won draws and one victory, but we are happy to advance to the Group of 16. Transvaal is a very tough opponent and one of the most experienced squads in the tournament. This is a very daunting fixture for us but we hope to play a fair game and advance to the Quarter Finals," IM Vijayan, Cochin of Cochin National Football Team said after the match with Romanov Federation.

Match Day 2
Revelstone v. Vereinigte Deutsche Länder 0-1
Goal for Lahm (VDL)
Yellow card for Marin (VDL)
"Though the yellow card for Marin was a small upset for the team, the goal by Lahm only 4 minutes later in the 65th pretty much sealed a match that had been relatively even, with most of the VDL team playing a rather relaxed but still controlling style.
The second win by the home team was celebrated all across the nation."

"The high win for the VDL is a deserved one, our team having dominated most of the match. Müller's two goals in short succession in the 39th and 42nd minutes cemented the lead, while Lahm's second goal in this tournament simply sealed the deal completely. The offensive, controlling playstyle of our team once more proved to be key to winning. They worked perfectly as a team.
Now's hoping that they won't underestimate Southern Sudan like Vietnam did."

A devastating loss has put us in a strange position: playing without players and with a chip on our shoulder. Going against the Alaskan Union, hopes are high but the coach has received a reprimand from the Tahoan National League for his aggressive play style and there are wishes to see a clean match.

The entire Commonwealth is on it's feet tonight as the impossible happened. The NPC will be moving on to the knockout phase, a true cinderella story thus far.

The Commonwealth needed the win tonight and came out aggressively in what would be one of the defining moments of the team's short history. Stecklenburg, who had become the NPC's go-to-guy struck first with a breakaway goal in the 26th minute giving the Commonwealth the lead. Australia answered back quickly, however, making the score 1-1 all the way down to the finish. In a test of wills, no one else scored until Wellington headed in the cross off a corner from van der Kaap in the 89th minute to win the NPC's advance into the knockout round.

OOC: I substituted Wellington for McKinley because McKinley is my keeper.

The game between Marscurian Pakistan and Revelstone was a close one. Going into double overtime, it only ended when a goal was scored in the 118th minute. At that moment, the section of the crowd covered in green and orange erupted into celebration. The team themselves couldn't help but do a little dance right on the field. Feeling invincible, the team was quickly shocked back to reality when they saw who they would be facing next, Denmark. In a match that was a mirror image of the CoN II, they would be facing Denmark in the first game of the knockout round. "We've improved an enormous amount since our first international matches in the last cup," said Michael Solomon, captain of the Marscurian Pakistani team, "hopefully this time we can stand up to Denmark and give them a run for their money."
