The Chamberlain Talks

The Confederation

Recommended Posts

The title of the extra-edition of the Königsberg local paper said it all.

"Dignitaries agree on ceasefire: Meeting at Tanzband castle for talks"

It was something accomplished by Kaiser Tanzband and Sarah Tintagyl, rumoured lovers and political cohorts.

Kaiser Tanzband spoke to the paper shortly before the event.

"I have nothing in my mind but peace...if this war escalates further..."

He looked uncomfortably at the reporter.

"I really don't want to think about that."

Guests were expected to arrive any minute now and would be greeted by a grand hall gilded with gold, and the finest wines and foods in the world served. The would ofcourse, be stringently checked for anything that may be used as a weapon, and their guards were instructed to wait outside. The room they were to meet had a camera broadcasting to every government and the world and was completely demilitarized.

Representatives of the Hanseatic Coalition, Greater Nordland and the True European Coalition were all invited. This was to be the last chance for the world.

Emperor of Wästerdyskreich, Alexander II, was in attendance at the meeting, where he hoped that this would finally achieve some sort of peace in the world, rather than let this situation culminate into the largest loss of life that had ever occurred. His High Adviser, Nicholas I, was also in attendance.

Still recovering from the bump on her head, Sarah arrived in downtown Königsberg for the proposal of peace talks. The world, once again hung in the balance and again, she was at the helm of her side. When she walked in, the Prussian wealth that awed so many, again drew her attention as she approached the Great Hall. There, the great table was set up with the flags of the representing nations. Seeing Albert in the distance of the room, she waved and sat close near him to be near a friend she could count on.

Taking her seat, she waited for the conference to begin.

"I think it would look nice if we made speeches right after eachother...we need to make the warmongers know that we mean business."

He smiled a nervous smile.

OOC: Pretend that everyone has already arrived. Sarah is next.

IC:

"Dignitaries of the world...we are here in Königsberg...my humble town to discuss, not the condition of Nordland, or Europe, but the condition and balance of the world. If our nations, now bound in a ceasefire that was negotiated with some of greatest diplomatic minds in the world.

I ask of you, no matter if you are a Nord, European, Asian, Afrikan or American...we are all citizens of this planet. We have a duty not only to our nations, to negotiate the greatest peace known in the history of any of our nations, but also it is our duty as brothers and sisters of the earth to negotiate the greatest peace known to humanity. To preserve the last scraps of decency remaining in the world, we must work together...not with the selfish interests of ourselves in mind, but the interests of our families.

I once said, long before Europe and the world was in constant turmoil, 'Every man and woman, in every nation of the world is my brother or sister...together, anything is possible.' We must keep this in mind throughout the meeting here, and as we return home. I can assure you, I will."

"The only reason this is happening is because for once in their lives, the Nords are scared. I will not attend personally, but I have mailed a videophone to the conference. If the Nords would be so kind to plug it into a phoneline, I will attend though that." -Uberstein

Classified:

The message would be relayed though several dummy telephone areas and though two fishing boats using over sized radio antennas.

Tsarina Romanov nods her head, picking her words.

"Molakia has sent troops into Uberstein to defend her people. We have no quarrel with the Nords, as untrustworthy as they are, and do not seek major conflict. We only wish the GNR to stop this mindless violence....before the world forces you to."

"Well, we do not want other than peace either. We can do as we've done with Überstein from the start, we had offered to grant him that small territory in dispute that had sparked the war, and simply then go back to peace. It took us to have to bombard and invade his territory for him to come to a such conference. Under normal circumstances, we'd be inclined to make further demands, but considering that otherwise this war would likely make the Italian and Slavorussian war look like kids playing in the park, I do think it'd be best to do a mix of returning to the status quo, plus officially recognizing the Disputed Territory within Nordland. Maybe adding in a DMZ would be a good idea, or even some type of NAP."

"There's something that everyone needs to understand. Unless we find a peaceful solution such as that, this will be the worst war the world has ever seen, and there will be no winners but those who choose neutrality. Although our soldiers certainly do not mind fighting to death, knowing that the vast majority of our population would be willing to take arms, this situation would end up becoming an all-out holocaust...some media already speculate of Mannelig's Trap. We have a chance to stop it all."

"Though, maybe I overestimate human nature. It is likely that out of hatred, thinking that victory will be simple, people will war on until we're all gone. As I said, this is our chance. For us if we are able to get Überstein to actually cease this ongoing state of war that's lasted over a year, we'd consider our objectives as achieved."

Alan Davies, Foreign Affairs advisor to Madame Unicorn arrives at the meeting armed with a case of Annihilation's finest wine, a Nobilo 2004 Methode Traditionnelle...

nmt04.jpg

He nods and mouths a polite 'hello' to all in the room, then sits down at the table and waits his turn to speak.

"I am here, representing my good friend and leader, Madame Unicorn. We both believe that peace is obtainable and we will do whatever we can to ensure it happens."

Erik Betrakte sits down, "I'm sure some of you already know me, I am the representative of the Norsvean Lander. I have never wanted war with Baron Uberstein, however he has brought war upon us. I only hope this can be solved diplomatically, for the third try."

Inside, Erik thought, there will be no saving Nordland this time if we are destroyed. Our culture will die if this nation dies. The unfortunate thing is, some nations do not think the nords are a culture.

Sarah stood and coughed. "I want to first begin by..." She leaned forward and coughed again as she looked around the room, her vision still blurry from before. "I...I want to first begin by..." Slowly, Sarah began to lose her footing as she stumbled back into her chair. Robert D'Esrail, the foreign minister who was standing beside her caught her in his arms and beeped for the Lillian guards that were outside. They came in, unarmed and quickly escorted her out to the plane that she had come in. Before leaving she handed D'Esrail a copy of the speech she was going to make, while The Republic, representative hand the terms.

"Now gentlemen, I'm sorry about that. She's been terribly ill since this has begun."

Within hours, before the conference had even ended, Sarah would be back in Palintine hiding under direct orders from her government.

OOC: I just realized, she's in hiding it wouldn't make any sense to send her especially when everyone else pretty much just sent representatives. I'll post D'Esrail's speech when I get back from work.

Mama Bob Denard walks into the room and this time she isn't carrying any fried chicken. She takes note of Sarah's sickly parlor and makes a mental note to send her an old family recipe for a home tonic that ought to perk her right up. Actually she plans to send a jar of her finest moonshine that she's been brewing in the basement of the dictatorial palace in M'Bossa, but none the less, it really ought to put some hair on Sarah's chest. Mama Bob notes the silence and decides to make a few comments of her own, prior to letting others speak.

"Now look everyone, you can smell the hate in this room. I know I hate most of you all just for being European, but that won't let me be so blinded that we can't do the right thing here. Take a hard look around this room and remember that the things we say here are going to affect more than ourselves," as she points to Kaiser Martens.

"You sir, the words and actions you show here today are going to affect millions," Mama Bob says as she looks around the room before asking, "You can damn well hate each other all you want. But really, do you hate the young boys on the front lines who are going to be blown to pieces because you fellows can't get along?"

"Look hard into yourselves and remember that you probably will be in your bunker, deep under the earth, out of range of the fighting. Men will die, be crippled, children will burn, people we be torn apart, and an entire generation of our children are going to stare that old !@#$%^& death right in the eye," states Mama Bob with a hard edge to her voice.

"Now you boys can hate each other, you can go home, turn on your office light, send out a few messages, and sit back knowing that people you don't even know will have been spared a horrible death. So please, set aside your anger for awhile and remember that the demands you make here of each other won't even really effect each other. Your people will feel them far before you'll ever know of them," says the tired looking woman as she wanders over to a chair and sits down.
