  1. Right now, the T machine is trying very hard to make it about Roq and not about the issue.
Roq is also trying very hard to make it about Roq and not about the issue.
Sorry Gopher, i view that thread as a totally unrelated issue. Think of it as one of the many doctrines we have floating around. Moldavi, Stewie, Tygaism... you know. That this doctrine/manifesto surfaced at this time seems to be a coincidence to me.

You consider it a mere coincidence that less than 12 hours after posting screenshots of the allegations against bros, Roq posts his political manifesto while he's the center of attention and everyone's watching what he's saying? You can't be serious.

  2. "The Hippy Shield Comes Up At 60%."If the "hippy shield", in your words, is only bad if it's used to "refuse to negotiate an end to the war", shouldn't your definition be based on a length of time, rather than just a nation percentage?
I initially thought about that, but I figure it'd be difficult to have people agree on what is an acceptable length of time in peace mode. They could counter-attack after a week or a month, and personally I believe a month is too long. But wars last forever these days, and some might feel a month is acceptable. However, I don't think anyone can believe an alliance is truly fighting a war if 60% or more of their alliance is in peace mode. That's the basis of my definition.

Yeah, 60% isn't a bad number, but there should probably be some leeway for the start of the war. Like you said, if peace mode is a good strategic tool for avoiding an initial onslaught, having 100% in peace mode would be an amazing tactical move.

If this were still the case more than a week into the war, then yes, I'd agree with you. But seeing as peace mode lasts five days, I see anywhere between 5-7 days to be a fair freebie in terms of PM.

(That being said, there should probably be an NS-dependent term in that as well. If your top 50% is all in PM, while your bottom 50% are all in war mode, there's a problem there too).

  3. Heh, (almost) all of our slots are synced, and our tech day happens to fall during the dates for the 61st-72nd round. But if we advance, we'll probably end up importing pretty close to zero tech during the next round of the competition.
Given that this might affect some alliances, would it be possible to adjust the dates so that each set has ten days, with overlapping competitions for tribes? I don't want to make it too hard or anything, but it seems to make sense.

I thought about making each round ten days, but decided against it for two reasons:

    1. It would make this entire thing way too long. Three months just isn't cool.
    2. I'm guessing that after a fairly short time period, it will become evident which alliances are going to move on. I feel that extending each round to ten days will only cause people to get bored, as they'll just be waiting to see how much certain alliances can run up their score, rather than seeing who will advance.

    * - That being said, if it turns out that five days isn't enough time, I reserve the right to extend the length of the following rounds. If I do so, I'll give at least five days notice.
