  1. They apparently tried to peace us so they could focus on RE. So from their own statements, TUN and MERCS were supposed to hit both RE and OE, but when MERCS didn't deliver the best blitz, they decided to try to peace OE so both TUN and MERCS could focus on RE alone. Yeah, not happening. But does that mean we can standby for war from MERCS?
  2. This is how I imagined Bernie reacted in between messages: *President Bernie goes to buy nuke, but realizes he has no money *President Bernie looks to Swazz's nation to see if he still has nukes. He doesn't. That's one hilarious backpedal, and just more assurance that you wouldn't have shown us mercy if our roles were reversed. So enjoy your moment in the sun. You earned it.
  3. Obsidian Entente Recognition of Hostilities [spoiler]Shortly after update on the 24th, the Entente appeared to have a bit of raid issue. A member of The United Nations attacked one of ours, and we quickly came to his aid. Shortly after, we received an offer for peace. Since the attack did minimal damage, and in the interest of giving peace a chance, we came to the agreement that if their nation sent peace to ours, we would cease attacks and no further damages would be done. Not long after, we received more war declarations, this time from members of TUN's government with their war reason stating alliance war, followed shortly by more peace offerings. So I sent the following message: My message was read, but no response came. So I decided to go right to the source, and PM'ed their leader. It seems that you're asking permission to raid my members, and should we defend ourselves, we will be nuked. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to decline your agreement. I cannot allow you to raid my members, then get away scot-free once you've decided we're no longer a profitable option. Then this beauty came along: We are not intimidated by your nukes. We are not afraid of your blockades. And we don't care if you spy our tax rate. Trust me, you won't be economically screwing us for the remainder of the round. We are fully prepared to face whatever consequences may come from laughing hysterically at your attempt to bully us. 4. The weak, the broken and the damned have inherited TE. Rest in Pieces, TE.
  5. If you like that, you should see our in-game description. :smug:

  7. I'm not so sure this is the only answer, due to the fact that he probably had more than half his infra in land, but is now taking a happiness hit due the -10% land event. An easy way to check if that's the case Josh, is by changing your tax rate to 10%. That'll put you in a 0 crime rate, and your infra upkeep bills will lower. If it doesn't go down enough, you know there's something else going on. Just remember to switch your tax rate back to collect taxes.
  8. I have to echo Rexius here. TPC was nothing if not consistent, and I appreciated that. I respected the dedication and love for game mechanics. Being drawn to econ myself, I always wondered what it would be like to be in an alliance full of econ nuts. I got to experience that the round I joined TPC. You probably never knew it at the time, but I was truly geeking out. It was so refreshing. If I had a question about game mechanics, I always knew I could find the answer in TPC. I will miss that. You will be sorely missed. o/ The Phoenix Cobras
  9. Or better yet, make it so if you disable XP, it also cancels all casualties/damage stats earned for that war.
  10. You don't actually have to change the rule. They're arguing that they want to be able to go to war with their alliance mates, not for the ability to gain XP late round. They're saying it doesn't matter if it's enabled or disabled, so really, just keep the rule that it needs to be disabled. If gaining XP in nuclear anarchy doesn't matter, then why is it a big deal that it has to be turned off? It's not. The word you're looking for is collusion. As Stevie described, there are always going to be different situations of people trying to cheat the system. 2 buddies who decide to have an all-out war at the end of the round is seemingly harmless, however if there's an award for most alliance infra killed or destruction, then they could falsely inflate their stats because they're fighting each other. So really, it's another case of if you really aren't trying to falsify numbers, then why not have your buddy hop off the alliance for the end of round wars? In the last week of TE, it's safer to be unaligned than in an alliance anyway since most are searching for targets on a specific alliance rather than unaligned nations in their strength range. Really, it's just about knowing what awards are being given, and watching for people trying to falsely inflate their numbers in attempts to achieve those awards, and that's more of a "I'll know it when I see it" situation because folks can get pretty creative. EDIT: Either way Keelah, I appreciate what you're doing here. TE has long gone without much moderation, and it's refreshing to see someone trying to keep things fair. So thanks.
  11. The wording on a successful spy attack on a missed target could also be updated. Both of those are confusing.
  12. It's time to pull the boys from their regularly scheduled entertainment. We got a lot of ground to cover.
  13. When I was running War Doves, I told them every round to expect to be hit with all spy operations and blockades. Why? Because when you expect to be hit with them, you plan accordingly and you're also not suprised/offended when it happens to you. Now, I never encouraged War Doves to perform these ops, but you better believe that if you downdeclared me, my alliance or I felt that your alliance was going to continue to come after us later in the round, I was going to hit you with everything I had in my arsenal. That's war. I wasn't taking anything personally, but rather attempting to eliminate a threat. As far as friendly wars/gentlemen's agreements, I never liked them. Not because I enjoy running these ops, but because it's just a pain in the ass when someone breaks it. I'd say that this happens most of the time friendly wars are agreed upon. And it's not really anyone's fault except the guy who ran the op, and more often than not, it was a mistake. He forgot to read an announcement or his messages got pushed to the bottom of his inbox from battle reports, and now I'm stuck having to find someone on irc trying to resolve the issue. Who needs that kind of stress in their life? That being said, despite my own reservations, I never turned a friendly war down. If you come to me expressing that you'd like to keep certain ops off the table, I will always agree, and I will always inform my AA the terms we agreed upon. Bottom line: I disagree that any ops are "dirty". I believe they all serve a strategical purpose. I expect you to use them on me. But if I'm messaged about a friendly war, I will oblige.
  14. I always love that gif. Ded pigeons be ded. Here's one of my faves: This video was hilarious. Thanks for the info. Hopefully it doesn't happen again, but I'll let Belisarius know. I thought the rule pertained to someone impersonating another person, not registering someone else's AA. Though, I'm also hearing that whoever did this may have also been using the nicks of old doves for their duplicate nations.
  15. Thank you for the kind words, commish. At this point, I'm unsure if War Doves will ever DoE again, but who knows what the future holds. :) Thanks again, and it's nice to see you as well!
  16. War Doves Declaration of (Non-)Existence A couple weeks ago it was brought to my attention that War Doves had issues this round. There was something of a mass exodus, and later the name was changed, and it was apparent that there was a blatant disregard for [ooc]game rules[/ooc] and duplicate nations were spawned into our world illegally. I would like to set the record straight. At the start of round 38, War Doves was hijacked from it's current leadership. When he was asked to turn over the alliance to it's rightful owners, he refused, which forced our membership to leave the AA. Then nations were spawned illegally, and the name was changed before being destroyed by our just guardians. It is unclear if this nation did these acts intentionally as a way to besmudge the War Doves legacy, or merely an overzealous member of War Doves who went about the wrong way to rise to power. Either way, War Doves do not condone these actions. We talk about so many unwritten rules here on Planet Steve, and we break most of them like clockwork, every round. However, the one rule that reigns supreme, is that you do not steal someone else's alliance. I certainly hope that this is an isolated incident, and that nobody's else's alliance falls victim to a mockery such as this. I may have left this world, but hearing that my alliance was forced from their home will not be tolerated. If anyone should have any information on the nation parading as leader of War Doves early this round, I humbly ask that you message me with whatever details you can. I will keep a nation around for the purposes of keeping our AA in safe hands. At this time, any other reincarnations of the War Dove AA are not sanctioned by War Doves leadership. If you want to make sure it's legitimate, contact myself, Kurdanak, Echoes (SlackJoint) or Belisarius.
  17. Tech Deal rates are usually determined by the maximum amount that can be sent for foreign aid. For instance, since tech can be sent 100 levels at a time, it's usually sold in multiples of 100. The same can be said for the price, since the max that can be sent is 6 mil. So it's not really the 10 mil price that makes this undesirable, but rather, it would take 20 days just to pay you, since it would require 2 back to back FA shipments that each take 10 days to expire. In that time, I could have sent 2 sellers 6 mil payments, then already received a return on tech. So I would alter the asking amount, but if you can find tech buyers willing to utilize 2 FA slots for 100 tech, I would hold onto them.
  18. Merry Christmas, and have a Happy New Year! *the OP does not speak on behalf of VE, and has since been removed from the AA.
  19. Wombats, I didn't really know a whole lot about you guys other than you were allied to my longtime protectors in VE when I was running GOP. Eventually, I made my way over to your forums, probably for trades, and I ended up having such a great time getting to know you guys. You were so welcoming, and you made me feel like I was apart of your MW family. I want to say thanks for all the support you guys gave me in my bid for senate. Thank you for letting me be apart of when Mortal Wombat's flag became immortalized in-game. Thank you for being my friends on Planet Steve, and thank you Howlin for stepping in when I could no longer lead War Doves. After having disbanded my own alliance, I know it's no easy decision to make. I wish all of you well, and to pay tribute to Mortal Wombat, I wish to fly Mortal Wombat's flag in-game for a period of 30 days. Good luck as you find new homes and thanks again for being the awesome people that you are. :)
