1. I've seen worse. Have you guys completely forgotten Dr. David Banner? Walford at his best? That GGA poster who probably got post of the year for that one post he made? This one was rude, but it doesn't register on the 'Worst Posts of All Time' meter for me. Think of all the posts we were saved from seeing thanks to the hard work of the Mod Team....
 2. If peace mode did not exist, then neither would FAN. At least not in their current form, they would have all had to be re-rolls at some point. Peace mode allows the political part of the game to take precedence over the purely military part, at great economic cost to the nation that chooses to use it; it's just fine the way it is. If this game only had the military option, then I doubt a 1/4 of todays population would still be here.
 3. Fair enough, but I don't consider Avalon to be 'newbs'. They just happen to like that one particular street corner, and don't like people messing with their turf.
 4.
You could nip at our heels a little bit, but not much else.
It's what they do.
Congrats on being the toy poodles of CN.
Funny, I don't recall you making light of GOONS when they talk about all the things they accomplish in the lower tiers. Are GOONS toy poodles too?
 5.
If I could only be a fly on the wall, seeing RV in GOONS.
It will probably be something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acE4mShBhAQ It's like the Ransom of Red Chief, come to life!
 6.
Hasn't apparently stopped you from having an opinion on it anyway.
Since the terms are now public, I do know something now, and I was mostly commenting on the strictly punitive portion of the reps. I was also fishing for a comment on the reps from someone in MK, which Ardus did.
 7.
4. Rebel Virginia (RV) agrees to join GOONS for a minimum period of 30 days. If Rebel Virginia leaves GOONS unprompted, NSO will be considered in violation of the spirit of the agreement and be levied 300 million instead of the above 100 million. If RV is cast out of the alliance for unironic spying or any such unpleasantness unsanctioned by NSO, NSO will be charged 200 million total.
I feel like I should hate this, but all I could do after reading this term was laugh. You poor GOONS, however will you survive? Congrats to all and sundry on attaining peace.
 8.
1) Carpe Diem agrees to pay 18,000 tech and $150 million to the Mushroom Kingdom. 6,000 tech will come from its top ten nations in peace mode at the time of this surrender. This debt shall not come due until the substantial conclusion of the current global conflict,or a time decided by the Mushroom Kingdom.
I'm not here to kick up a huge fuss over these terms, they aren't the worst things ever, though making the top 10 in PM pay 1/3 of the tech is a nice job of kicking them when they are already down. Some of those don't even have that much to begin with. I assume the reps are this high because of their re-entry into the DH side of things/breaking terms, but I missed the thread on that so I don't really know much about that. Carpe Diem accepted these terms though, so enough about the reps. Was there supposed to be an 'or' in there where I put one in red? Otherwise that sentence makes no sense, people don't surrender when their attackers decide they should. Congratulations to CD and the others on peace!
 9.
They were already our enemies and it doesn't make sense to have let them get out with so little damage done.
You've wiped out half their NS, burned up who knows how much of the warchests in the fighting nations, and subjected peace mode penalties on their upper tier in PM for 2 months, and you consider this little damage? What is a lot of damage to you, causing half their nations to delete and ZIing the entire AA? Just what are your goals here? I didn't see how they could be considered a threat to DH before the war, I certainly can't see how they are a threat NOW. NPO only did what they did in the Hegemony days because they had the backing of at least half the people now aligned with DH/PB. Are you expecting a huge defection of alliances now aligned against NPO to suddenly turn around and support them again? I just don't see it happening. I don't have the big picture view of someone like you though, you obviously are looking at this from some other vantage point. There have already been two other wars I can think of, where the upper tiers of the losing side didn't get engaged/fully engaged; NoCB and Karma, with the NpO and NPO respectively. The winners ended up accepting reps and gutting the upper tiers tech selectively. Something from which neither alliance has ever recovered, correct me if I am wrong. So this situation is hardly going to set a precedent like some in DH seem to be implying in some of their posts.
 10.
What constitutes a threat to DH or not is a concern of my leadership and our allies' and it's above my pay grade to discuss it.
I swear when I read this I had the most amazing wave of deja vu. Were you a Pacifican in 2008??? I haven't really thought you all were just like the Hegemony was back in the bad old days, but they talked just like this. Every single thread discussing FAN had this line in it somewhere. I don't think DH is in as bad a position as Learz seems to think either, but certainly the war will cost them some ground of it continues for a long time. Unless you are going to assume all your current allies are going to remain allies forever, then keeping your edge is still going to be important. Though if you keep buying tech at Umbrella rates, eventually you are not going to have anyone to play with. Unless you have some insidious long term plot to become the CN equivalent of the Gnomes of Zurich, that doesn't sound like a fun end result for you.
 11. Did that dastardly RL bug infect your alliance? I am sad to see you go, I would have liked to have done more with you all. Best of luck with your next projects. Be safe!
 12.
The U.S aided China and The British both were at war with Japan at that time and in addition The U.S publicly denounced Japanese expansionism and imposed Embargoes to strangle Japan economically. I'd call that a CB.
The embargoes the U.S. used before Pearl Harbor were intended to strangle the Japanese military supplies, not the overall economy. Unfortunately some of them , like Oil had large civilian implications too. Though not many other countries were selling Japan oil either, which is why our embargoes hurt them a little. Acrux must hve lost interest, I have not seen a new Ramen Mew Mew in weeks.
 13.
We just kicked out a 97K nation, so should be a pretty nice drop for us.
What did he do??? Also, Lord Brendan, who is that illustrious member? I wonder if I know him at all. As much as I complain that all the dinosaurs are gumming up the global politics, I hate to see them leave.
 14. The thing about the posts that Peggy highlighted isn't just that they are being jerks, it's that they are direct personal attacks. There is way too much of that on the forums, and it has nothing to do with any actual debate that you might be having. OK, you can say a person does not have enough experience on a particular subject, or that their position and history makes them biased for this or that reason, but those are not personal attacks per se,and there is at least some logic behind them. The spelling and grammar attacks have always been to me, especialy when the person goes on to make a spelling or grammar error in there post trying to knock someone else for doing so. When I quote someone else I often will correct any spelling errors I notice in their post, but I don't make a spectacle of it, it happens to everybody sooner or later. Also, I refuse to apologise for my terrible grammar, so you get no points from me for pointing them out.
 15. I've been following the war stats off and on for most of the conflict. Does anyone else think it is odd that now that the sides are less unbalanced then previously, the daily damage done seems to be even more disproportionate? Is it deletions causing this, or has the extended fighting in the middle-lower tiers reached equilibrium or something??? The numbers have seeemed a bit floopy since the Polar side of things shut down.
 16. I'm going to have to diasagree with you to some extent BamaBuc. My recollection of that period leading up to Karma is more along the lines of what haflinger thought. Everyone knew things were boiling and that NPO was the primary target. No one could say just when or what would kick it off, but it was going to happen. Though perhaps circumstances made it much worse then it otherrwise would have been, I don't know. Once people see it is a stomping things tend to snowball around here. Though that one turned into such a mismatch I have trouble believing people when they say they thought the Karma side could lose. The same thing happened to TOP after Karma, you could see that something was in the wind, what with so many people opening bashing/snarling at them. TOP knew it was coming for sure, they even made sigs referring to it.
 17. "Infinite war chests"? I'm not sure what you are referring to there, would you mind explaining that concept to me? Full NS spreads and aid bombs have been done in war before, I'm not sure why you think that is new, though perhaps the scale of the aid being sent to GOONS is unprecedented. I wouldn't say you have produced the most viable siege just yet. VietFAN and the Karma War were both much longer then this one, and a lot can happen between now and the time when you would match those conflicts for length. Though your position seems strong enough right now. When people are referring to fatigue I don't think they are talking about GOONS or the nations they are fighting, it's the ones in peace mode or twiddling their thumbs while waiting for a target to come out. I'm sure after the first week the upper tier nations have not had much fun. I honestly think both sides are in for a long ride, since the pre-emptive strike has given the NPO side enough morale/incentive to stick it out for a while. Now maybe that willpower will fade, but the more the DH side talks about it, the more likely they are to stick with the peace mode plan since it seems to be annoying them at least. You are right about growing faster then the NPO side, but those two groups are not the only ones in existance; Everyone else will move forward while those two stagnate. The NPO side moreso, but you will both be affected. I guess it comes down to opportunity costs.
 18. You are either extremely optimistic, or just plain arrogant. If you can have infinite patience, what makes you think the people you are fighting are not capable of the same? Are they somehow inherently inferior to you? Please elaborate. There is no such thing as international law here, but there have been and always will be conventions that people more or less follow. None of those are absolute, but those who flought convention often pay a high price for it. Witness NPO and what happened to them when they attacked in the middle of negotiations for one example of this. What theories are you re-writing? Other then attacking for no reason other then you want to and have the power to do so, where is the innovation? I'm sorry, but I've seen Might Makes Right before, it's not new. If anyone is re-writing the strategic theory book, it is the other side, with this "PM for the upper tiers, war for the middle and lower tiers" strategy. Which I have already seen people on the DH side complain about rather vocally, since it flies in the face of conventional thought. I think DH is in the stronger physical position right now, but their situation isn't perfect by any means. If this war does go on for an extended period, you won't grow as fast as the people who are not involved in the war, and attrition from boredom is likely to affect you just as much as it does the NPO Coalition's side; that's hardly a win for you. Also, as long as this goes on your abilitiy to deal with any new business is severely curtailed, since you will always have to keep your eye on the people you're keeping down as well. You are like Brer Rabbit with your hands stuck in the tar baby right now. You aren't in any great danger, but you certainly are stuck with it. The other side has already been stifled by peace mode for months and seen their other alliance members torn up a lot in the war; they have no real incentive to come out and let you beat them to death, I don't understand why you don't seem to realise that. If you had made that offer a month ago I think it would have had a much better chance of being accepted. The longer this goes on, the less likely it will be that they accept it, since they've already been paying in on the installment plan so to speak. In other words, your offer to them at this point looks light.
 19. I still think you should have declared on someone other then iFok, but I am impressed that you stuck it out so long. A big improvement UPN. Congratulations to all parties on working out the peace.
 20.
Whatever works for you, I guess. I happen to think that stuff is disgusting.
For a second there I thought I was going to have to scold you Ashoka, I thought you were referring to this: http://www.takaboost.com/ ^That stuff's great! As far as your DOW though...I guess it is easier to follow the well worn path then try something new? If you want that pound of flesh that badly though, this makes perfect sense. My condolences for Mr. Thor von Mayhem, he was quite opinionated and that avatar was very striking, I'm sure he will be missed.
 21.
4a. DT will pay CSN with 5k tech from any 2k tech nation and above. And of course, what would be a Sarm post without an epic cake?
You simply HAD to grind your boot in their face when you had the chance, huh CSN? So noted. That is indeed an epic cake Sarmatian, good choice!
 22.
xfd. without any political material, schatt resorts to calling out some 5 month old nation for saying something stupid. how the mighty have fallen.
To make this statement, you have to have considered Schattenmann to have been "mighty" at one point. I've seen backhanded compliments, but I don't recall seeing many backhanded insults.
 23. The Zapp Brannigan bit was well selected. The rest of it was entertaining enough. Just remember that high spirits are no substitute for 600 rounds per minute. Kudos to the GOONS!
 24.
Give us Raman Mew-Mew
Ask and ye shall receive! ...Oh, was that not what you wanted?
 25. I look at that recipe, and the first thing that pops into my mind is,"I'm going to throw some raisins into the mix when I try that recipe.". Nice find Kingzog!
