Londo Mollari
The leadership of the Oceanic Alliance has recently committed a grave error, namely issuing a declaration of war without the approval or even the knowledge of the Athenian government. Such a rash and hotheaded action (one which, according to the treaty text, justifies immediate cancellation) exposes flaws in OA's leadership. Nor is this the first serious issue with which Athens has had to deal stemming from this alliance. I nevertheless retain and reaffirm Athenian protection of the Oceanic Alliance. Our mandate is not to shrink from friendship because it may be inconvenient or unpopular, but to stand up for our friends no matter the cost. I believe that OA has a great deal of potential within it, and that it will rise someday to become a mighty alliance, if its leadership can learn temperance. We will do our best to help them achieve this (having implemented some new conditions which should prevent future errors of this kind on their part), but ultimately, their success or failure will occur as a result of their own actions. So with all of us. /s/ Londo Mollari, Archon eponymos Edited March 4, 2009 by Londo Mollari

Sea Junky
That's nice seeing you guys not canceling the treaty you have with them even if they seemed to have done something that would have brought immediate cancellation. The Oceanic Alliance will hopefully not do the same mistake again. Anyways good move Athens and it's very honorable of you guys. OA are hopefully proud of having you guys as allies. Trinite
oh Athens. I love you so. Good luck with OA.
Salmia
This is a good move to see. Giving second chances is always something to be commended even if such mistakes can be hard pressed to warrant said chances. To OA, be glad you have merciful kind protectors who are willing to give second chances and heed their advice. They can teach you a lot. Rebel Virginia
Other protectors would do well to take a lesson from these Athens fellows. It seems that many alliances forget that their protectorates do not exist to serve their own interests. You take them under your wing as an act of kindness, to help them establish themselves. You don't dump them if it looks like they're faltering a little. OA should do well under Athens guidance. This is quite good to see I must say. Haflinger
A remarkable public rebuke with a maintaining of the treaty. OA, you would do very well to heed your protector's warning. They mean it; don't do it again.
Dexter
I know the leader of OA personally and he's not the best person to be in charge of an alliance, that's all I have to add.

Anu Drake
Good stuff Athens, OA is a good alliance and their leader got a little passionate. Nothing wrong with that, and I'm sure it will be a good learning experience.
Augustus Autumn
Temperance and patience are values which we've known Athens to hold dear since before we signed with them - the Initiative continues to be proud to call you our allies in these turbulent times. DerPrinz
The government of the Oceanic Alliance would like to apologize for the declaration of war against ARN. It was a rash error, made in haste with out thought. We would like to thank the Athenian government for not canceling our protectorate treaty. The Oceanic government would like to affirm that this will not happen again, and the terms of the protectorate treaty will be followed. Londo Mollari
Does this mean that you guys forced them to change leadership? No it does not. OA's leadership is a good group of guys with lots of talent, and I can tell that they work pretty hard. This was just a reminder to be thoughtful, not a statement that we don't like these guys. Cuz we do.
