When news of the attacks reached the base, command and control began to analyze satellite data, searching for thermal blooms and using radar data to triangulate a rough location of launch. When they failed to find the launch location, it was determined to have been a submarine launched attack perpetrated clearly by the Chinese. In response to the attack, a New Babylonian SSBN on station in the pacific as it overshadowed the fleet sailing to its new base in Cascadia was given new orders. Its orders were to fire fifteen compliment of thermonuclear missiles at China. Twenty five five megaton missiles were launched at cities throughout China. Guangzhou Shanghai Beijing Shantou Shenzen Tianjin Chengdu Nanjing Wuhan Shenyang Xi'An Chongqing Quanzhou Wenzhou Harbin. When the missiles were launched, the submarine would dive deep below both the thermal and accoustic layer and begin sailing southwards towards New Zealand with the intention of then returning to its home base. Its depth and speed, as well as using established shipping routes on its way home would mask its presence and make the sub essentially undetectable. We will not tolerate such hateful aggression against any nation in the world, especially in such an underhanded and dastardly fashion. The French government extends their condolences to the people of the Philippines and offers civilian aid as soon as possible to help assuage the harm from said attack. Phyrus, Cebu and Davao would be destroyed outright by the nuclear weapons resulting in five point seven million deaths in the cities and surrounding areas. Those who were unaffected did their best to hide in their homes or fled from the towns and other cities for small rural villages or rural areas of land to avoid being the next target. Mogar Posted May 30, 2014 Report Share Posted May 30, 2014 (edited) The launches from the Pacific were calculated to be aimed at the mainland, as such Japan's SDIs did not fire upon them, the missiles launched from the chinese however were calcuated to be potentially aimed at the homeland, and as such SDI attempts to shoot them down would be in effect. the attack by the Chinese was expected based off their harsh language and arrogant attitude towards the Imperium, 25 20MT ICBMs were prepared for such an attack and launched as a response. "The transitional government of the Philippines would like to request to know who this was aimed at? We don't believe that our nation committed any crimes against humanity and would like to know if this statement was aimed at us." On the mainland teams of volunteers from the services, the military and any willing citizens would come forward to begin work on closing off the nuclear struck cities. With only a few NBC suits to spare the teams would take it in turns to minimize health risks to the volunteers. To begin with the volunteers would close off all road and railway entrances to the three cities as well as establishing aid stations and living quarters plus the necessary living facilities that the volunteers needed whilst they worked on combating the damage inflicted. As the ships got close an open transmission was sent to all aggressors in the region. "This is Commodore Brandon of the CHS Hospitality, We are from the Kingdom of Cascadia. We come to assist in the Pacific relief effort after this Nuclear Disaster. We are not picking sides and we wish to remain neutral. Do not fire upon us. We are aid ships only, repeat, aid ships only." With that the three ships would come a mile off the coast where they would cut the engines and helicopter crews would be prepared to be sent to help. The task force consists of a Kirov (Modernized) Battle Cruiser, a Wasp Class Landing Ship, four frigates, with an additional two more Ticonderoga Class Cruisers, four destroyers, and two landing ships converted to Sea Control Duties on the way. The Commodore of the Legion task force notifies the Cascadians that they will be acting as security for them until otherwise notified. Appears to be at least four large vessels moving at about fifteen knots. No IFF signal but they could be civilian ships sir" reported Airman Pablo Springs from the cockpit of his F-4 Phantom. The F-4 was a well out dated piece of machinery but all the more modern fighter jets were either at Wake Island or had been stationed in the capital city of Phyrus which had been destroyed resulting in the total loss of all military equipment in and around the city. Therefore he and the rest of the wing he belonged to were flying the older F-4 Phantom fighter planes though a number of slight modifications had been made, the rails under the wings could hold more modernized air to air or other variant rockets and a single 20mm cannon had been added to the nose of the aircraft in case of engagement by dog fighting. "Roger that Airman Springs" replied Second Lieutenant Matilda Barrows, one of the few women officers in the Philippines air force she had quickly proven she was just as capable as any man and so any and all comments towards her gender had quickly died away. "Form on my wing and we will check them out" she ordered. "Roger that" said Pablo bringing his F4 around in a tight turn to meet up and form with Matilda's fighter plane. Once they had formed into a pair Matilda lead Pablo towards the four contacts which swiftly went from blurred shapes on the sea to the form of four large cargo vessels steaming away from the Philippines. Looking down on them something seemed off to Matilda but she wasn't quite sure just what it was and she was still trying to figure it out when Pablo spoke. "Second Lieutenant those cargo ships appear to be in a military convoy formation" stated Pablo and Matilda had to agree with him. "That they do Airman let's go in for a closer look" she said and together the two of them flew down to sea level to make a better observation of the four ships. As she flew by she looked over to see what was on the decks of the two tanker vessels and when she did she noticed that the decks were clear except for a large amount of men working at opening a set of massive double doors set into the top deck. Flying past them she rejoined Pablo who slipped back into place on her wing. "I saw activity on the deck. Can you confirm the same on the other two ships?" she asked her wing man. "Confirmed for the other vessels Second Lieutenant. I wonder what they we...I got new radar contacts!! I read eight new air contacts rising from the cargo vessels speed and profile suggests Harrier fighter jets" reported Pablo. "Understood no way are those ships civilian and no markings means they are an unknown hostile threat. Break off and prepare to engage aerial targets" she replied as she broke away from Pablo's fighter to bring her own round in a tight turn whilst Pablo did the same. Knowing that other nation's had naval assets in the region and fully believing these ships were belonging to some terrorist organisation Matilda broadcast on an open channel. "To all naval vessels in the Indonesia region of the pacific, have encountered four tanker vessels of unknown origin who have launched eight Harrier aircraft. No identification markings or colors are visible and they appear to be of terrorist origin. Request naval asset assistance to disable or destroy the surface contacts" Matilda said repeating the message and giving the coordinates of the ships and aircraft. Bearing down on the tankers and the Harriers the Second Lieutenant's console lit up with a radar lock warning from the nearest Harriers so she replied by radar locking on to the nearest Harrier. She wondered if they would actually fire on her and she was quickly answered when she saw and heard from the console that the Harrier had launched a missile at her. Cursing she fired off her own missile and dived for the deck and hit the afterburner causing her Phantom to rocket forwards so that her plane under cut the oncoming missile that attempted to curve round to follow her and ended up diving into the sea. Her own missile flew straight at the Harrier which was still in VTOL mode and was thus unable to evade and it was swiftly destroyed. Another explosion over another ship signaled the death of another Harrier but now they were out of VTOL mode and were much more of a threat. The Kingdom Navy Forces stationed in the Philippines now stand at one battlecruiser, two Ticonderoga Class Missile Cruisers, four Frigates, four destroyers, two Wasp Class Landing ships, and over a dozen supply and medical ships of varying classes. Unarmed parties are sent ashore to begin the process of providing relief supplies and medical aid under the watchful eye of a pair hovering pair of helicopters that clatter overhead at 5000 feet. As soon as the ships were in range 2 SH-60s would launch from each ship and would speed towards Phillipine cities and brin citizens back to the ship to be given treatment. The commodore noticed most of not all of the Axum ships had helicopters so he sent a transmission to each. "Dear Axum ship captains, please utilize your air assets to assist in getting Filipinos to our hospital ships where they may recieve care and treatment." His Ligurian blood, handed down from his father, the infamous Admiral DeGrazi of the Brighton Gun and Rod Club fame, tended to run hot even at the best of times. However, there is always more than one way to skin a cat, he sends a coded transmission to the rest of his ships that reads, "Allow the Cascadian helicopters to proceed inland, if they aren't fired upon, we'll begin conducting full scale relief efforts." If anything they were met with much joy and relief as the supplies and personnel were sorely needed. Those civilians who were in the most dire of straits and still able to be moved would be evacuated to the helicopters for travel to the waiting hospital ships. Whilst this was all happening a member of the transitional government would be driven down to the biggest relief camp set up by the Axum personnel in case they needed to communicate with the government. The helicopters of the Kingdom's Landing ships begin shuttling supplies in and injured out. The overflow of injured are transferred to the Cascadian ships once the beds of the Kingdom naval ships are fully occupied. On the beach, well upwind of Manila, a full scale tent city with doctors and medical staff will be built. Public The Kingdom of Axum pledges 300 Million in relief aid to assist the Philippines during this terrible time for them. Classified Kingdom Combat Engineers begin the construction of a dedicated foreign base, temporary of course, for the siting of assets used to detecting and preventing further nuclear attacks. Permission to go ahead with full construction of such a site is sought from the Philippine government on the understanding that the buildings and such will be left to the Philippine Military to do with as they see fit once the Kingdom departs. Kevin Kingswell Posted June 3, 2014 Author Report Share Posted June 3, 2014 Relief centers would soon be receiving large amounts of scared, hungry and injured citizens almost all of whom who were now homeless due to the destruction of the three major cities. Shanties towns had begun to sprout up around the vicinity of the relief centers as the citizens began to use what materials they could find to construct temporary homes for themselves and their families. The transitional government promised to work on getting them homes built in the near future but for now seeing to the immediate wounded and dead was the main priority. The news of the three hundred million in aid was well received by the transitional government however, a request would be put out that it be in the form of supplies in aiding the affected citizens. Money right now would be of little help with so many homes destroyed and as much of the Philippines food supply came from extensive farms that had been destroyed in the blasts lack of food was a serious issue. Requests for NBC equipment would also be made as that was something that the Philippines sorely lacked at this time. Classified The member representing the transitional government of the Philippines would grant permission for construction of the foreign base and would even provide an offer that if Axum was willing to pay a small rent fee that would not be too costly each month they could permanently man the base if they so wished. Lights, bells, whistles, and sirens start flashing and honking all over the Kingdom as orders start spewing out like machine gun fire. Literally, within hours dozens of bulk freighters and RORO ships being taking on huge loads of supplies destined for the Philippines. A dozen 747 Airliners are leased to fly injured citizens directly to the Kingdom for medical treatment. Kingdom Air Transport Command C-5B and C-130 Transports, ceremoniously named Rogue Flights, are packed to the brim with supplies and flown out in large waves to arrive in such a manner that they'd start landing after the previously lot have taken off to the Maldives to refuel before making the leg back to the Kingdom. It is realized the extent of the damage is so great that 300 Million isn't going to do more than act as a band aid. To that end the following message is sent: The Kingdom of Axum is raising its contribution to 500 Million dollars for the relief efforts in the Philippines. We estimate the total costs are going to be several billion dollars and hope that other nations can contribute the funds necessary to assist the Filipino's in their time of need. - King Beckwith The Marines on the beaches push inland far enough to find suitable land to establish a proper refugee center that is above the high tide line. Once there they begin to organize the frightened refugees into groups of one hundred. Once in smaller groups, the Marines give medical aid, food, what clothing they can spare, and keep them calm. While the Marines are establishing a perimeter and dealing with the understandably frightened civilians, the Engineers thunder ashore with their massive earth movers and combat engineering vehicles. Each group of one hundred is given a Legion Issue General Purpose Large Tent. The Marines guarding them help them carry it to a quickly assigned spot and then assist them with setting the massive canvas contraption up. The Filipinos would quickly learn that the heavily muscled Kingdom Marines have a flair for abusive profanity in wide variety of languages. Once the tents begin going up the Engineers start digging defensive berms, laying down planking for walkways, stringing wire for security, and placing vital infrastructure to support the entire effort. This would not be the only camp planned, another two regiments of Marines are slated to arrive by the end of the week. All Cascadian helicopters will do one more run and then halt all aid until further notice. An announcement was quickly sent out with an explanation. "Cascadia strongly denounces the Indians constructing this military installation within the Phillipines without their direct consent over the base. Therefore we will not be sending our helicopters back out. Although we welcome any Axum helicopters that are delivering wounded civilians to our ships. Our helicopters will again be sent out when India stop production of their military installation. Also the government of Cascadia is giving the Phillipines 1 Billion CMr to assist in reconstruction." It is abominable and pathetic that the Indian government would use such a recent tragedy within the Philippines in order to further their ulterior motives without the consent of the aforementioned state. What the Indian government has done amounts to an outright, undeclared invasion of the Philippines, or at very least an entirely, blatantly illegal operation.
