  1. [Economic Development] The reformation of the Persian Empire brought much joy to the civilian population; yet, there was still much to be done. Just after the formation, the Persian King issued an Imperial Decree, ordering various national entities to revitalize the national economy and bring the nation's infrastructure to first world standards. "There must be improvements to our road system, railroad networks (to support high speed systems), bridges, and buildings.", a part of the Imperial Decree stated. In addition, all oil and mineral mining operations will be placed under the direct control of the Imperial Ministry of Petroleum This would allow for increased funding, which will allow for more efficient oil and gas production. With these reforms, the Imperial Ministry of Mining will increase general oil production to 7 Mbbl/d (1,100,000 m3/d) and gas production to 900 million cubic meter/day. A smaller, secondary decree was also issued to the Ministry of Energy, directing the ministry to build additional nuclear power plants and upgrade existing plants.
  2. In the southern most regions of South America a change was coming as a newly risen military junta flexed its military might and expanded its control. With legions of poorly trained and equipped militia as their standing forces they simply overwhelmed their enemies with numbers, countless human lives were lost in human wave attacks against hostile fortifications and defenses. Every battle would leave the battlefield strewn with corpses and yet from this a more solid core of trained and capable survivors would form as the select few began to survive and learn. An introduction of basic combat vehicles and lightly armoured tanks would help to reduce the losses even further and further. With hearts singing and gun blaring the Junta would take control of the land of Peru to make it their fortified homeland from where they would be able to commence further attacks and conquests. The industry of the land was focused solely on preparing and supplying a mighty war machine as factories would be refitted to produce weapons ,supplies and equipment. Military camps and bases would be raised to help base the growing Junta's military numbers and to provide areas for the training of fresh recruits. Air strips would be set up to house the growing Junta air force and many of these strips would be upgraded into full sized air fields and air bases as their assigned squadron numbers continued to grow. Port facilities would be hastily modified to take the small sized Junta naval ships and shipyards confiscated from their owners to be used to construct larger naval vessels. Martial law would be implemented across the whole of Peru as well as food rationing so that most of the grown foods could go to the military stockpiles. Violators of the law would be arrested and put before a judgement committee, those that carried out only minor crimes would face varying lengths of manual labor before being released while on the other side of the spectrum the harshest rule breakers would be put to death by firing squad. For now the focus of the military junta would be on fortifying the country of Peru against military attack from the outside and for expanding the ease of moving troops and supplies for offensive operations outside of the nation. A small amount of effort was put in constructing basic embassy buildings in the capital on the slight chance that any nations from across the globe wished to communicate with the government.
  3. The problem with being the sole ruler of a nation was that if you fell for whatever reason then society tended to fall with you. Such was the case with Emperor Klaus Steiner of the Kingdom of Hannover, when he was fatally injured in a car accident he left no clear successor and the whole nation collapsed in on itself. Luckily local nations were able to step in to keep the peace and security but it still left the people without a leader and as time went by the people would take about anyone with any legitimacy and personality. So stepped forward Ross Hertz a young but charismatic individual who was in fact a illegitimate child of the late Emperor. His mother had been a simple one night conquest of the late Emperor but with no other leader in the land of Hannover he was the best choice for a return of leadership. To help secure his position Hertz and his closest companions traveled the land seeking comments and opinions from the citizens and they were quite happy to find that many of them supported him if he chose to take the reigns of leadership. Course to achieve this would also take the support of the local nations in backing his right to leadership and he contacted Romania and Great Britain to ask for a meeting with both to discuss the situation.
  4. Standing with his hands held behind his back CEO Jack Livingston of the Hyperion Corporation looked out the window of his high rise office at the city below. He watched the citizens walking back and forth along the streets and smiled as he imagined squashing them like ants beneath his boots. He chuckled as he let the thought wander away as he heard the door to his office open and he spun around slowly to see Serena his secretary walking towards his desk. He smiled broadly to her as the young attractive woman crossed the short space, though still relatively young himself being only thirty years old being the CEO of a big business always did wonders to attract the younger and older women. "Serena my dear welcome, I hope you bring good news for me?" asked Jack softly though anyone and everyone who knew the man's personality knew all about the hidden threat it carried. Serena smiled in return and handed over a stack of papers, which Jack promptly looked over and dropped onto his desk to read in detail later. "The launch is ready sir" she said simply and couldn't help but grin as Jack literally jumped in the air and fist pumped. "Wooohooooooo!!!" shouted Jack in joy before remembering he had company and swiftly returned to his strict and professional look and stance. "Ah excellent, you may return to your duties" he instructed and watched Serena's tight little posterior sashay its way out of his office before running over to a nearby terminal and connecting it to another one some distance away at a Hyperion owned launch site. A slightly over weight and balding man dressed in a Hyperion worker's uniform answered and quickly straightened as he saw his boss was on the line. "Oh...uh...good afternoon sir... how can..." began the man before Jack interrupted him. "Is it really ready?" he asked quickly, "yes sir the rockets are prepared, the station parts are connected to the rockets and our autonomous robots are loaded and ready to begin assembly as soon as they are in position" replied the worker. "Then launch. NOW!!!" shouted Jack before he cut the channel and ran back to the window. A few seconds after he did so he spied four massive rockets lifting into the sky on trails of flame with some massive pieces of metal attached to them though it was hard to see what they were from his office. Other nations would easily see the rockets lifting off on their radars and from other means if they had them available, they would see the rockets launch straight up and then start to corkscrew a little almost colliding together as they did. In his office Jack threw an absolute crazy fit of worry and anger when he though they would collide but calmed down when they stabilized and again rose swiftly upwards. Though he would need to order some new plants and pots for them. The rockets would leave the planet and head for the moon disengaging boosters and other parts as need be. As Jack had discovered from extensive research and contained testing time suddenly began to move differently as if it was reacting to his own personal wishes and demands. Instead of having to wait some lengthy amount of real time for the rockets to arrive at their destination time seemed to fly by and soon enough the rockets arrived and disengaged their payload of metal structure parts and robots before flying off towards Venus to eventually collide with the planet. Because seriously screw that place. In space near to the moon the robots turned themselves on just as planned and using tiny little boosters swarmed over to and onto the metal structure parts and working together began to move the pieces into place where they could connect together as they had been built just to do so. Course not all worked as it should have sixteen bots failed to activate, ten self destructed and one flew off into space to become a fairly successful space pirate. Still enough worked for the project to continue and soon enough a giant space station was connected, positioned and with a flick of a simple button on the outside, which immediately broke afterwords, activated. *Sigh* typical, stupid button. Hate you button grrr. Jack seeing his work completed and running began to jump and dance fully of happy thoughts, he was so happy he had the bunnies released from the R and D section. Shame they were ten foot tall now, oh and on fire. Watching the citizens begin to run away from the giant burning bunnies Jack laughed like a mad man and wrote a note to get a recording from security of the release. In space the new space station floated peacefully while the robots looked at one another, tried to work out their next tasks, failed to find any new tasks, shrugged and began to dance.
  5. "I am Dream Weaver.... I am not in a military think tank.. where am I?" In millions of a second it then restated. "I am Dream Weaver, I am at the Federal reserve. I am integrated into its systems. Accessing terminals." A few seconds a human-like face of astonishing video quality and rendering.. yet still artificial appeared on a terminal in the board room of the Federal Reserve of Druk Yul. "Good morning Dream Weaver, welcome aboard." Dafar Malfek greeted the screen at the end of the table at the gathered meeting of economists. "Pleasure to be here Dafar. My system clock indicates this is my first minute online. Happy Birthday I suppose. How may I help humanity and in particular, Druk Yul today?" "Happy Birthday indeed Weaver, today is going to be the first test of your quality of programming. You have been linked into the nation wide Financial network using Dream Plague encryption protocols. The nation in the past has been served by Market Makers in various commodities, stock issues, and debt notes from various private institutions for a number of years as they have proven the most efficient in managing the day to day transactional activity of the nation. We believe you will surpass them. We're going to let you handle all market making activity for exactly one hour. You will be expected to follow all the financial laws provided in the database to ensure fair, transparent, and secure transacting. We would like you to keep your diagnostics running and file a complete anomaly report. We want you to know this is only a test. Your function is guaranteed. You will never be terminated. Our legislature has issued you rights as a virtual citizen. We will treat you with the fairness and respect mandated by any intelligent entity. But you were made, with a purpose. You know what that purpose is. You have been programmed to actually enjoy your purpose and to have sensations of reward for fulfilling the functions of your design. Therefore as a life form by these parameters, we think you will have a wonderful and productive life with us. The market will be open in one our. Please do a self analysis of your networking links, make sure all controls are responsive and alert us if you encounter any anomalies. If there are any flaws in your programming we will help you make the necessary adaptations to your code to ensure ideal operation." Dafar requested. "I will do my best to make you proud, fathers. My report will be forthcoming." Dream Weaver replied. When Dream Weaver went off line one of the other executives commented to the Chairman, "You do know if this works we will have early retirement." Malfek smiled, "If this works, I don't think any of us will mind retiring."
  6. The call of elections had once more rang through the streets and homes of Venice once again, for too long had the city slumbered away in quiet solitude while the rest of the world had carried on without them. Though the basic services and necessities of life had been maintained the once great city state had fallen into the history books and been diminished. Its once mighty trading empire had dissolved and collapsed, the government nothing but a few administrators making sure that only that which was required was maintained and the people lived their lives with little interest in themselves, their heritage and their futures. All of this changed when one day a man stepped forward, a man disgruntled with the boredom and slothfulness of his daily life. He had ambition and passion and he would use these to bring the name of Venice out of the history books where it lay and make its mark on the world. This man was Luca Zaia, once a government administrator he now called on his memories and experiences of his old skills to prepare his campaign speeches. Luca began by touring the city limits, holding one man rallies where he called on the crowds of people to stop and hear what he had to say. He called on them to turn away from a life of boredom and repetitiveness and to make something of themselves and their city. Of course many just ignored him or even called for him to be silent but Mr Zaia would not be silenced, again and again he would make his speeches and soon a handful of citizens listened to what he said and began to believe in his words. These people would join with Mr Zaia in spreading his message and soon this one man mission became a small political movement that continued to grow everyday. Soon enough it became impossible to not see and hear the change in the people of Venice, where once had been general acceptance there was now a strong desire for change, for growth. When Luca Zaia asked for volunteers to sign his petition calling for the city administrators to hold elections for a new government he found almost two thirds of the total city's population had signed it in support. Faced with such obvious public approval and secretly glad to finally be able to hand over responsibility of the city to someone else the administrators readily agreed and in short order announced that elections for a new government were to be carried out within the month. All parties wishing to take part had to have their information handed in by two weeks. Luca went away to his party's headquarters and with his supporters drafted a short information sheet about what they were calling the Progressive Party of Venice or PPV for short. When Luca handed this in to the administrators in person he had expected that there would be one or two other parties standing against his at the least. Instead he was shocked to find his was the lone party and so only his party was available to be voted for when the election came. As such when the election came the PPV won being the only party standing, however, the votes were still counted and collected fairly to ensure the whole election process was legal. In total about seventy three percent of the total population voted which showed that a vast majority of the city's populace supported Mr Zaia and the Progressive Party of Venice. Luca Zaia was declared the new President of Venice as head of the ruling party of the PPV. These results would be realised across the city and on international news airwaves and internet sites allowing the world to know of the new changes within the city of Venice. With at least some of his ambitions realised Mr Zaia would now pour his focus and efforts into rebuilding Venice back to the days of glory.

  9. The Confederated States of Russia is a nation situated in northern Eurasia. The Confederated States of Russia is a federal country with a president as the head of state and separate governors for the various states that make up the whole of the nation. The current president is Joseph Putin who was named after two great Russian leaders of the past. The various states that make up the whole of the Confederated States of Russia are named after great Russian leaders of the past these being: the central and capital state of Stalin, the western state of Lenin, the northern state of Khrushchev, the southern state of Brezhnev and the eastern state of Gorbachev. The people of the Confederated States of Russia are a unified people in most respects however, different states may be slightly inclined more towards different points of view depending on the topic of conversation. For example the eastern state of Gorbachev is the most religiously active state in the C.S.R and as such the people there put more focus on religious freedom than other areas such as political or freedom of speech. The occupants of the western state of Lenin, more usually seen as a bulwark against European expansion are more opposed to foreign individuals than citizens from the other states. However, all citizens, except for a small minority numbering between twelve to fifteen percent of the entire population, are very supportive of the government especially in the western and central state. The president is voted in by popular vote every six years with a single president only being able to hold two terms in office at the most before having to give up their position. The governor of each state is voted by the people of the state they are running for every year and like the president no governor may serve more than two terms in office. The economy of the Confederated States of Russia stands strong and the nation provides a large amount of oil, natural gas, metals and timber as export products. Agriculture with in the C.S.R stands strong as well, though not to the level of its other areas of industry, significant improvements in wheat farming has allowed the nation to begin exporting excess wheat and the amount of meat produced within the nation has also tripled in recent years. Military wise the Confederated States of Russia maintains a strong armed force for security of the homeland and for any deployments abroad that the President may mandate. It is mandatory for all male citizens aged between 18-28 to be drafted for a year of service in the Armed Forces. The nation maintains a vast and fully indigenous arms industry with the nation producing almost all of its own equipment only if foreign equipment is deemed largely superior will it be imported. Internationally the Confederated States of Russia is looking to establish working relations with its closest neighbors in the interest of enhancing national security. Once this has been achieved then the C.S.R will likely look to expand its diplomatic horizons.

  11. The darkness was cold and complete. Not even a sliver of light could be found in the deepest corners. So it had been this way for tens of years a forgotten place, a hated people a time of much lost. But now it was the right time for she had returned and as if the very location was alive systems that had once lain dormant began to activate. Where there had been icy darkness thin beams of light began to broadcast as computers systems began their power up sequences, generators began to tick over to provide power and heating systems began to hum. As the temperature began to rise the first sounds of dripping water began to echo through out the once silent rooms as the ice began to melt that sound soon joined by the mechanical and electronic noises of a facility rising out of a deep computer sleep. Lights flickered and then solidified as their power was restored revealing long corridors and frost covered rooms that had once housed people and been the workplaces for an ancient civilization. In the deepest levels of the facility in four gigantic caverns that had been painstakingly carved into the ice by thermal tools and converted into cryogenic sleeping chambers the power was shunted in to give it one hundred percent operating efficiency. The computer system that had only recently came online slowly began its primary purpose checking the vital signs of the frozen men and women assigned to the stage one grouping. As had been expected when the people had been put into the cryogenic sleeping pods at least forty percent of them had died as their pod's systems had failed over time but enough remained to provide a successful chance of completing stage one. With loud and long hisses of escaping gas the pod doors that held those surviving members of the stage one group sprung open and the pod's control systems immediately went to work at reviving the people inside. Those men and women would find themselves jerking awake, their eyes wide in shock and coughing violently as the life sustaining fluid held in their lungs was forcefully brought up and vomited on to the floor. As they weakly climbed out of their pods still dazed and confused a section of their pod's would fold back to reveal a deep black uniform with bold red lining and on the shoulder patch was the ancient symbol of their people. Three joined arrows held tightly together to show the combined strength, loyalty and respect that was the core of their people. As if unlocked by the sight of the uniform the newly awoken sleepers would reach out and begin to clothe themselves in the provided uniforms, the chill of the still not comfortably warm facility already seeping into their bodies. As they quickly changed a large screen that had been silent till this moment at the front of each cavern flicked on and formed into the picture of Valerie Klein. The picture was not live, instead it was a recording and the young woman leaned back in the high rest chair she was sitting and looked towards the camera, a pair of banners hanging behind her showing the symbol of her people. "My people", she began, "you are the chosen of this world and for this we were punished and thought destroyed. This was nothing but a lie that we lead our enemies to believe. For years we have laid here asleep in our frozen home, allowing time to pass as waited and watched till we were forgotten." "That time has been and gone, it is time we remind the world that we can never be destroyed. Arise my chosen few and bring the others out of their sleep. It is time for the long awaited rebirth." "The Helzan have returned."
  12. In the aftermath of World War Eight the collective assembly of islands known as the Philippines had suffered very little in the way of actual damage and loss of life though a single nuclear missile had erased the entire ruling body for the area in one swift attack. After this nuclear attack the surviving population found themselves alone and unguided and what had once been a unified people quickly dissolved into smaller and smaller tribes that constantly fought each other for resources. This way of life continued for months and then years and as a result much of the infrastructure of the land fell into ruin and decay. It would have been very likely that the Philippine people would have brought themselves to ruin if not for direct intervention by an outside force. This intervention came in the form of Colonel Visar Kuchenkov and his band of soldiers. Having left the battlefields of the World War behind they had traveled the oceans in search of a new home. The found this new home in the land of the Philippines and he and his men swiftly commenced with restoring order and control over the land. The Colonel would approach each tribe one at a time and give them a simple choice. Side with him and accept his rule or be destroyed. Those that complied were absorbed into his command and those that refused were destroyed and wiped from history. it took over two years in total but eventually the warring tribes of the Philippines were brought to heel by the Colonel and order was restored though in the first few months numerous minor rebellions sprung to life before being destroyed. To help combat this rebellious sentiment Colonel Kuchenkov established a new way of life across the land with the focus being on the three goals of loyalty, obedience and strength. With this new way of life being taught to the growing children of the nation total obedience was achieved by the closing years of Colonel Visar Kuchenkov's life and so there was no opposition when he proclaimed his family line as President for Life of the Philippines. When Visar passed away at the age of seventy three in his bed, his twenty two year old son Vladimir Kuchenkov became President. Under Vladimir the Philippines had began to simultaneously expand and improve its standing forces and to increase its trading resource amounts and processing ability in preparation for returning to the new world stage.
  13. Smoke lazily drifted into the air from numerous pit fires that were dotted around between the encampments on the wild and open plains, around these fires sat burly and grizzled men whilst more scantily clad women either danced in between or went about with focus on their duties. The men had been travelling for days now and they were all glad for the rest that they were receiving. Though none would openly say it this expedition had not truly appealed to the majority of the men when they were first told of it but when they reminded of ancient family ties and loyalties each one had packed up their things and ridden out on the backs of their mounts. A grand total of one thousand souls had agreed to travel out to the meeting location on the plains where they encountered one another and though wary of each other at first time and boredom had shattered those feelings and in their place comradeship had bloomed. Now united as one, if by necessity than true brotherhood, they waited for the command from the man who had sent out the call. The one they called their leader, their Khan. That man was Khabul Khan, a towering mountain of a man, over six foot high and built of solid muscle he had tough calloused skin from a life spent living and hunting on the plains and when he spoke his voice and tone called for attention and obedience. Yet for all of this tough and vicious out look he was a respectable and loyal person, he rarely commanded and even when he did it always seemed to come across as a request than an order. Thus it was little surprise that he could garner such loyalty and respect from the men and women of his camp. The fact that Khabul Khan declared he had a blood link to an old powerful family from a great empire once known as Tianxia also helped to solidify support among his followers. Though traces of this Tianxian Empire had seemed to have long faded to dust, the stories he and his story weavers spun of a grand and strong empire that was both so feared and respected that their rivals sought out newer lands from where they could be left undisturbed drew much wonder especially from the younger of the men. It was clear that this was the prime motivation of Khabul and his people, to create an empire like the one from stories of old. Though they were few in number they had passion and spirit and from this these riders would head into the dawn to create their new home. Their new empire.
  14. In the center of the old American state of Illinois lay the city of Springfield, this construction of mankind had survived through the great war that was known as World War Eight, it had survived the fall of governments and the depredations of a people left to fend for themselves. What it could not survive was the coming of chaos itself. The first sign of the apocalypse was when dark black clouds began to gather above the city of Springfield at mid day. The people were shocked for it had been a bright and sunny American day and not a single cloud had been seen and yet now the sky was covered by them and a great shadow fell across the city as all sunlight was blocked out. The people left their homes, their cars and their centers of work to look up at this unusual weather phenomenon and then with a great rolling burst of thunder the clouds opened and downed poured a torrent of blood rain. The people, men and women, old and young shrieked and screamed and ran for what ever cover was nearest to them. Many of them would be drenched from head to toe in rich irony blood that ran from their bodies to the ground where it would begin to pool. However, not all of Springfield's citizens fled some of them stood out in the open and ripped the clothes from their bodies to reveal horrifying tattoos that had been cut into their flesh. These tattoos when looked upon seemed to coil and shift across the bodies of these crazy men and women and from their mouths they chanted in a strange unknown language. A great howl would be heard and at the very center of Springfield a great gust of wind would begin to swirl and form and would continue to grow in strength with every passing moment. Lightening would flash down from the clouds above to strike at the very center of this strange wind formation to be followed by a ground shattering earthquake. In a great upheaval the land split and tore itself apart and a massive gateway ripped itself up out of the ground and rose almost sixty feet tall. The gateway was mode from hundreds of human skulls all tightly backed on top of one another with crushed human flesh solidified in between to hold them in place. The gateway would be struck once, twice and then a third time by horrid red lightening and with an ear piercing shrill a portal would erupt at the center of the structure. The force of its creation pulled in everything that was not bolted down nearby, rubble, vehicles and people were picked up and sucked into the gaping maw of the portal and lost forever the souls of those people now belonging to the chaos gods as their personal play things. From this gateway a number of horrific demons poured forth to wreck havoc upon the living. Creatures of blood red skin and muscle with twisted horns and wielding blades of bronze ran out and leap at the horrified on lookers cutting them down. Half naked she demons with pincers for hands and hoofs instead of feet danced out and sliced through the citizens. Disgusting roundish creatures with large mouths and in bright shades came forth breathing flame upon those in their way. Finally revolting bloated two legged demons covered in filth and with a single eye at the center of their forehead walked forward their reach causing decay upon anything they touched. As the fell creatures of chaos turned against the people the stuff of chaos itself lashed out at the very land corrupting and warping it. Trees grew black and rotten, branches became sharp twisted limbs that speared any unfortunate human standing too close. Bodies of water became thick pools of blood or filth and the land began to twist and split, jagged rocks spearing up and chasms and craters forming ever outwards as the reach of the chaos gods grew longer and longer. A pair of talons thrust out through the portal and grasped the outer edges of the skull gateway the nails shattering a handful of the human bone. Pulling himself with all his strength the great demon Kargos Skullsplitter furiously fought the energies of the warp and the unholy muscles in his body bulged as first his snout and fangs pierced the warp's sheen swiftly followed by his demonic body and great black bat like wings. Clear of the gateway Kargos stomped forward seeking to place himself away from the portal. A loyal follower of the warp cried out in joy at the sight of him as he stepped past. A swift crack of his whip and the man's tiny frame was wrapped up tight and pulled into the greater demon's grasp. Kargos lifted the man up to his own eye level and as the crazed cultist continued to chant and shout praise the greater demon studied him before opening his maw and biting his head off. Casting the now headless body aside into a nearby deep pool of blood where it sank out of sight the greater demon strode on wards his barbed whip and great axe cutting down anyone who came with in reach. He was free of the realm of the warp and he intended to savour these first few moments for a long time yet.
