Umbrella has never asked for reparations and never had to invent a special type of end-of-war scenario other than admission of defeat and white peace in any of our wars... except with this one pesky alliance that hid its upper tier in peace mode in that war. I'm sensing a pattern. No, the difference being that in the former war, NPO upper tier nations avoided war by utilizing peace mode, and those specific nations were asked to fight. In the latter example, Umbrella had been in war mode from the beginning and shed huge portions of tech, NS, score, or whatever metrics of fighting a war you prefer to use. We were already an alliance that had faced an extended war. NPO got 21 days of war for ten nations above 80k NS and twelve below. Recall just how many members NPO has as a whole. And consider again that these were nations hiding in PM. The entire coalition wasn't jumping in, either, just those already at war. Umbrella got 30 days for 80+ nations (four below 50k NS would have been allowed to be in PM per the terms of our agreement, and four above, but we weren't going to peace those nations because our higher strength tier was better served fighting). All of our nations had, again, been fighting the entire war. Methrage et al. I recognize, as per the above replies, that somehow in between Pacifica enlisting us into an extended war and Brehon getting the rest of his coalition to volunteer to fight us after signing that agreement, something magical happened, but I'm not going to pretend Brehon in all his magnanimous benevolence decided to let Umbrella off the hook. We got lucky that the anti-BIBO coalition fractured and that Pacifica's planned meatshields this time refused to fight for an alliance that was (you guessed it) not going to participate in the main theater of combat and face the nations Brehon wanted crushed. All of that said, these facts were initially reported to assuage the curiosity of a couple posters in response to Marx's excellent example of Pacifican hypocrisy, not to talk about other wars entirely.

Brehon/Pacifica led peace talks for the anti-BIBO coalition. The terms offered Umbrella were extended war and/or complete external aid restriction at various points down the line. The initial offer was either five or six months of zero incoming or outgoing external aid. Note this extended to the ENTIRE alliance, at the time perhaps mid-eighties to nineties in member count, and essentially meant we could not do any tech deals since we didn't have any internal tech sellers. Also discussed in the initial meetings were three months of extended war. During peace talks, Brehon repeatedly requested that all other fronts shut down and act in good faith to let NPO and Co. stomp on Umbrella alone. Eventually he would get that wish because even for a war that started over us nuking our own rogue, and even negotiating with someone completely unaffected by that action (rather, we were negotiating with the guy that had worked to plan the war for the previous several months and not the alliance with the perceived "wrong") we recognized and appreciated the numerous allies and coalition partners that shed tech, nation strength, time, energy, and nations to defend us, and even knowing that the war over the long term would have been a win for our coalition by eating the enemy from the top down, such a victory would be a defeat for far too many people and overall more harmful to our partners. Thus, on March 22nd, Umbrella accepted the terms and declared the surrender and admission of defeat on behalf of our coalition, and we agreed to an extended war for one month beginning on March 24th, Umbrella versus all of Equilibrium.

Personally, I enjoy these threads. They usually don't change anyone's minds, but these threads/forums are the true source of entertainment and enjoyment to be had in this world.

The real point is that your statement is a lie. Banking nations don't have so much tech. I've seen your nations' warchests. These PM nations could have fought, sent aid with 100% slots, and continued to send aid even now, and the war would have been over long before Christmas. Every other alliance on your side has taken more damage than I'd wish upon anybody, all because you Pretend to have aid banks and Pretend you have willfully chosen an outdated system of economics.

Can you also post them here for us to admire in case they're being worn by people that I ignore?

News flash. Umbrella accepted extended war, all of anti-BIBO vs just us all by ourselves. Between us accepting the offer and Brehon getting signatures from his coalition mates, it turned out that the anti-BIBO coalition didn't want to fight us even everyone vs just us, and we got LUCKY that the enemy coalition was completely inept. We DID accept an extended war deal in order to ensure our loyal allies, OTPs, and coalition mates could finally get out of the war.

My goodness, $14-21B for arguably the strongest alliance in the game, the one able to both receive AND inflict more damage than anyone else in this war? The madness! Meanwhile, as a single Umbrella nation in the tier of nations coinciding with your "banks," this war is costing me 8,500,000,000 dollars and counting in WC losses, damages, and missed income, not to mention probably close to 5k tech destroyed. Do you know what that tells me? If even TWO of your thirty-five perma-PM "banks" had come out to fight, their damages would have exceeded the TERRIBLE HARSH TERMS our coalition has offered you. Clearly you have taken the smart way out, as the terms presented pale in comparison to what would have happened had you brought even a few of your high-tech banks to the fight. And as you continue your propaganda war and let your allies take the heavy damages on your behalf, why perhaps you can lower our TERRIBLE HARSH TERMS to the equivalent of a single nation of thirty-five having come out to fight. And that's only cash, not even considering time spent rebuilding tech.

KM: When developing Cyber Nations on a MMOG scale, it was important to make the game fair. Because of that, some sacrifices were made for gameplay purposes. For example, the 5 percent rule was added because of massive outcry from the community that the game was too unrealistic with nuclear weapons so readily available and being used on a massive scale like we saw before the 5 percent rule was added.

That's why the check mark exists for the XP stuff. That said, I maintain that it is silly to bother about it, especially when this game's purpose has a legitimate RP base and is not purposefully XP farming.

Sweet, will be neat to see who's sent the most cash/tech, received the most, etc., in addition to just comparing battle stats stats.

That's not a bad idea, mostly because I look at the small list of participants and always wonder at it being OWF worthy (I think it is because it's fun to follow), but it'd be even more interesting with people falling into the loser leagues, heh.
