  1. Hmm... the quote option is not working for me atm. @shelrich: Don't mention it. I love reminiscing about the old days, and some would say I do it too frequently. Anyway, thanks for sharing! @Baltus: Of course I remember you! Heh. Hope you're keeping well.
  2. Join GLoF... or else (I won't think you're cool)!
  3. Congrats on the treaty, guys! :)
  4. No, next on our exhaustive list of treaty cancellations which includes but is not limited to all of our treaties, we're terminating our secret treaty titled "Speculation Annihilation" with you. Don't tell anyone, though, lest you spoil the surprise.
  5. Congrats on the new lineup, and props for the intended jab of "relatively unscathed"... While nobody, yourselves included, consider you even relatively unscathed without additional modifiers, I respect the comment. It's totally something I would do. lol.
  6. we definitely get on much better these days than in the past, but "ally" is a bit strong when talking of a NAP. i think non-enemy would be more accurate, though there's no need to nitpick, i guess. lol. i am glad that we've buried the hatchet on that.
  7. I hate both of these alliances. They suck real bad. Just kidding. Congrats, guys! Hails all around!
  8. Haha... Yeah, I thought about that, but - believe it or not - there are some expats working in China. And I work with some of them, too. ;-)
  9. Good luck with this! Decent amount of like for our NAP co-signatories!* *That's a joke about NAPs. Was going for the "Much love for our allies" feel. :)
  10. Hey, Stetson, after you're finished with that issue of Parade, I'd like to borrow it and read "The New Life of Martha Stewart". Ok?
  11. Congrats on the treaty! I don't know FEAR at all, but NEW seems a quality group.
  12. I was too young to remember the fall of the Berlin Wall, although old enough to follow the 1996 US presidential election and remember with clarity the death of Princess Di.
  13. "Good news, everyone!" So, yeah, I'm sure some of you have attempted to recruit your friends and family... and often to your chagrin, no doubt. I actually tell most of my friends that I play, and among some of my friends it's become a sort of joke that I always try to make them play. I have had varying degrees of success, but nobody has stuck around for the long haul. My best friend from college moved to a different country and shortly discovered that I suck at keeping in touch with people. He signed up to communicate with me. He played for several months, perhaps almost a year. This has been quite some time ago... when I was at VE. Then a year or so later I had a girlfriend that I convinced to sell tech for awhile. She could never remember the steps (really bright, I know), and it got old telling her each link to click. She eventually deleted. Shocker. Most recently I got a colleague of mine in China to signup. He's Chinese. Anyway, we share the same network at work, and I somehow momentarily forgot that we wouldn't be able to aid each other. Anyway, I sent him some aid, as he's a tech seller, but later got a message/reminder that it's not OK. The message said I may be deleted, and I checked the forums for a place to beg forgiveness but found none. So, I thought I'd post this here. It seems there may be a 3-strike policy. I hope so. While I don't want to get banned/deleted, I'd be a lot more productive IRL if that happens, I think. So, if you're wondering, the "good news" is that we appear to have a 3-strike policy (fingers crossed), and barring that I will hopefully experience an uptick in my IRL productivity.
  14. Here are some rankings based upon Gopher's stats. All the data is straight from his post above; I have only reorganized it. Perhaps someone will find it interesting or enlightening, idk. Anyway, let me know if you see any mistakes, and I will do an edit. It seems there are some randomly bolded parts... I'm not sure why. Oh well. 15. I do hate that it's come to this. I wish Nordriech only the very best going forward. o/ Nordreich o/ Dark Templar
  16. Glad to see you guys alive and well! It was a pleasure working with you throughout the war... expecting a repeat of cooperation! o/ AB
  17. I don't really see EQ turning on itself. It's quite possible that it won't stick together too well, but that doesn't equal infighting. Regardless, the political maneuverings will be interesting to watch. Will it be a multi-polar world? Eh, maybe. Prediction: DH will try to see that enough alliances back away from DR/NPO. Then they will seek revenge. EQ has never been entirely cohesive, and I don't think that many will dispute that. It was a coalition of the willing and the vengeful, really. So, the bonds keeping EQ in place for the duration of the conflict were not entirely bonds of friendship, as we see with the opposition. That said, these bonds are not only easily shaken, they can also be easily strengthened, or easily rebuilt in the face of a continued or resurgent threat. Thus, it seems to me that each side's core has a FA battle to wage now that the war is over. DH will want revenge and DR/NPO may want to do a bit more grinding. It actually makes for some interesting politics, I think... possibly wishfully.
  18. I, for one, don't care what anyone in Competence, Equilibrium, or even in my own alliance has to say on the matter. Umbrella caused injury to AI and in so doing gave AI and her allies a valid CB. Did some on both sides want war? Yes. Could the issue have been settled diplomatically? Yes, of course. As things transpired, however, neither Umbrella nor AI pursued a genuine diplomatic solution before AI and her allies expanded hostilities. So, write your history books however you wish, but I'll be here to ensure there's an asterisk alongside your claims.* *Unless you're actually writing anything beyond posts on these forums. I cannot even be bothered with the CN Wikia. lol.
  19. Agreed. In this post, I'm agreeing with my alliance-mate. Conventional wisdom tells us that the original aggressor aggresses due to confidence in their ultimate victory. In the OP, though, we see Umbrella, the original aggressor, surrendering. In subsequent posts, however, we see attempts by the surrendering party to negate said surrender and thereby restore the established tradition of aggressors winning the day. We also see in various posts, people claiming strategic victory in part due to the absence of reparations. On the other hand, a concurrent discussion attempts to show the leniency of the hegemony that was (or some will say is) Doom House. In that discussion, some extol the virtues of said hegemony in their taking of little-to-no reps when victorious. It leaves one wondering why DH is lenient and virtuous when requiring little-to-no reps and yet others face a different standard. Whomever first said it was absolutely correct: CN: A Double Standards Game
  20. As the person who started this thread, I'd like to say it's good to see people posting here in a mostly friendly and unbiased way. At the same time, though, I'm a bit disappointed that more people didn't post. Does this reflect the level of bitterness and/or animosity between the opposing sides or is it something else?
  21. Exactly. :D Also, interesting stats you put forth. I didn't realize the extent to which the TOP front was bleeding tech. It'd be interesting to know our sides tech numbers at the beginning and end (if anyone wants to provide that without me having to do anything for it).
