1.
You guys realize that this alliance is already responsible for bringing something around 60 plus new players into the [ooc]game[/ooc] ?
60 nations doesn't turn the tide of thousands of nations lost. Also, if every thread becomes a breeding ground for obnoxious pony-picture posting, it's not worth it.
2.
Do you honestly believe that after all the losing wars against superior forces that Polar faced through the years we will be scared just because TOP is angry with us? Do you really believe that we will stop to build our nations because we are afraid of TOP? If you really believe that sir, then you are idiot, and if your really need some prove, look at my nation, I faced ZI last war and look if I'm not building my nation and importing tech to send lovely nukes when/if TOP grow up some balls.
Grub said that Polar wouldn't build their nations so that they could deny TOP the delight of destroying them. I'm not going to dig up the post (ooc: I'm on my phone, that would be quite hard), but that's pretty damning evidence that at least some polar folk (Grub, no less) would rather stagnate than grow and get their ass kicked.
3.
Who knows, maybe someday they'll actually go through with it.
Think of TOP (and I suppose maybe VE's?)'s hatred for polar like a slap bet. Would they rather slap polar ten times right now, or would they rather slap polar five times over the course of eternity? Anyone who picks the former is silly. The fear of polar knowing that it could happen at any time is just as great as seeing polar getting rolled. No one will want to build a nation up if they know it will inevitably be destroyed by TOP anyways.
4. Also, you should get some real leadership up in there. I hear Ardus likes ponies too.
5. So you disbanded one micro to form another micro, both of which are / were under TPF's protection. This is game-changing!
6.
It has nothing to do with war. It's the political situation that leads to wars. At this point it literally seems like you have NPO and about 5 or 6 allies and a massive treaty ball made up of about 7 blocs trying desperately to form as many connections with each other as humanly possible. You should all just cancel every treaty and form a mega-bloc and call it something hokey like The Empire and at least maybe you wouldn't give poor Bob Janova headaches with his attempts at treaty web monitoring.
If you think today's current political climate is stagnating, either you're not paying attention or just whining about the fact that no one likes your terrible alliance. Nonetheless, this connection to IRON is hardly going to lead to stagnation.
7.
Lots of treaty announcements but no cancellations. o/stagnation
Pandora's Box gave you a war already. What more do you want? Also, pretty psyched about this new relationship with IRON. Hopefully it takes us places.
8.
You're invited to the party.
We're quite comfortable within the confines of our box.
9. It's not Citadel 2.0 without us! Also congrats. I see you guys finally managed to get BN to sign a treaty above ODP level.
10. This was always Roquentin's crowning achievement:
11. During my two years and counting at Umbrella, many things have changed. The only two things that remained the same was 1. The presence of a stoner cult, and 2. The ever diligent leadership of Roquentin. When I first applied to Umbrella as a former Genmayer in my previous days, I expected Umbrella to be mostly old Genmay folks that lead around an elite alliance. Naturally, when I found out the triumvirate was lead by a former MKer, it perked my attention, and truthfully, it made me uncomfortable. However, Roq messaged me and got to know me immediately before I was even a member, and gave me a rundown of everything that had happened. He was the guy that established trust quickly. He even sent me the first $3million in aid to my now 91k NS nation. About 6 months later, I got elected to the triumvirate and began working closely with Roquentin. I found out quite quickly why he was trusted to lead us. Most leaders excel in one or two areas and lack in others. Roq proved to be the most capable in all areas of leadership. His foreign affairs expertise led him to have contacts with all of our allies as well as close friendships with alliance leaders outside of our treaty list. His drive for Umbrella to be an economic power is what gave Umbrella the reputation for the aid-efficient alliance that we are. He contributed internally by driving activity in both off-topic activities and the current-happenings of the CNVerse. Roq’s consistent attitude of striving to be better and never slowing down was the reason why Umbrella is in the position that is today. While Roq and I didn’t agree on most things, we were there for each other during tough times. One of his best features was how mellow he could remain in negotiations, despite me knowing how frustrated he was with the parties he was dealing with. He was approachable by all members, as well as people outside his alliance. It’s often said that we don’t appreciate things until they’re gone. This is certainly the case here. Roq did the work that he did selflessly. He was rarely thanked for the work that he did. Now that he’s gone, I only wish that he knew full well the effect he had on us all. So with that, I say: Thank you Roquentin, for all your tireless support and effort to make Umbrella an amazing alliance. Thanks for consistently pushing us to be better, and never settling for “good.” Thank you for keeping my slots full. Most of all, thanks for your friendship. I hope your other life treats you well, and you keep on trucking. ~NFL
12. This next ASR update will be particularly painful.
13.
I don't know why people continue to rip on Crymson. It's heart warming to see everyone still ripping on Grub though.
Crymson did a lot of bad things to alliances that people don't easily forget. He's definitely changed now (unlike Grub), but it's not as if we forget the past.
14. SirWilliam, how will you attempt to win best avatar this next year?
15. Funny, I would have thought receiving NPO's badges for fighting alongside them this last war would have salvaged this relationship. Also, congrats to NSO, for not having to be indirectly tied to Legion and Invicta anymore.
16.
FARK needs to post more.
If this thread is any indication of their posting styles, no, no they don't.
17. I for one was happy the TPF war ended the way it did. People got to to beat up TPF without any real form of retaliation. I mean, what isn't great about that? That said, this war still doesn't even compare. Most global wars deserve a better opening, such as a historical grudge between Polar and VE culminating with a spying attempt. Two awful anime alliances whining in public? Who cares?
18.
NPO never fought the UjP.
LJ Scott's hard work on those target lists takes offense to this statement.
19. The "Everyone Hopes You Both Die in Nuclear Hellfire Because it's the Only Way to Remove the Stench of Anime" war.
20.
SOS runs the wiki, they'll name it.
The greatest CN tragedy of them all.
21. Could you write an essay on why anime should be banned?
22. Politicians get their picture taken with a lot of people, King Zog having the opportunity to have his picture with Thatcher seems entirely plausible.
