Just for clarification, a nation doesn't, at any time, actually have to involve itself in trades with the RIA, right? As long as they wear the AA and are Maroon, they can reside their indefinitely? I support the move either way, as a step of sovereignty and independence if nothing else; I just wanted to make sure I understood.

The #1 nation currently has 210288 soldiers and an efficiency of 1,077,358. So you see how adding improvements and wonders can vastly multiply your soldier efficiency.
