Who allowed a paint entry in the contest?

Now everyone will vote for the "lulz"
I would like to know how Cheyenne's entry is "lulz." Considering that the rest of you have merely found an image online, applied some filters to it PhotoShop and then called it "art," I fail to see where you have room to comment. Cheyenne's work, though simple in its nature, attempts to make a commentary on mythology that reflects the artists view. In this case the artist clearly sees mythology, of cultures, as essentially tales prophesying the end of the world. Whether or not we care to agree is for another discussion, but it cannot be denied that a statement is at least being made. This whereas the other contestants have merely done child's work. While I am not saying your work is comparable to scribbles, as one uneducated in digital art I can safely say what you have made is something that even I could do. Searching for an image, cropping it, and then creating a background and putting in effects and filters is not the groundbreaking work most of you seem to think it is. It does not take a true visionary or artist to do any of that, and consider how skilled youngsters are with computers these days, I still assert that this is child's work.

While Cheyenne may not yearn to be as fancy as yours, what his work lacks in effects it makes up for in message. It is without a doubt that Cheyenne has created the only true piece of art in this competition, and is quite frankly one of the most accurate reflections on modern society's view of ancient mythology. We view it as rubbish, as childish stories, and the artist depicts it as such. This is much more than can be said for any of the others in this contest.

well, I gotta hand it to you Rebel Virginia. You certainly do have a talent for trivialtizing the momentous and complicating the obvious.

In this case, Cheyenne, while doing a good job of being lulzy, it was not any sort of "commentary" as you call it. He will win, not because his art is the best, but because it stands out from all the others.

Also, who can name the movie I just quoted?

I'll ignore your comment about it because I think you're arguing just for the matter of argue.

So, has anyone else besides Cheyenne made an original work and not simply added PhotoShop effects to an already existing image? I stand by my words. Cheyenne's work may not be overly impressive visually, but it at least says something. Do any of the others say anything at all?

I'll give you one chance, and explain that: The objective of the SoTW isn't create an signature made only with original work or pictures, or say "something", the objective is use already existing images/effects and put them together to do a good looking signature. I have not against paint made signatures or "lulz" signatures, but it isn't the objective of the SoTW. It could be like in a new hardcore music contest you try to submit a pop music, not matter how good or original the music is, it'll be out of place.

And yeah some people created original things like myself and yes it is art(even if I don't see myself as one), look the Davian Thule signature and ask him for the original image and you will understand that.

So, a signature is simply a cropped image with special effects meant simply to look "cool." Forgive me if I prefer works with substance and soul. Art has always been more than just neat looking pictures. It is meant to capture and essence and convey it as a message. In Cheyenne's case, he captures mythology as it is viewed from a modern audience. No longer are the stories as valued as they were in the past, as we've got our own contemporary myths. Those ancient ones are now viewed as silly relics of the past, told by old men in civilizations long dead to spell a message of doom. I disagree with that opinion, being the scholar I am I see value in them still, and appreciate them yet, but art speaks not for the few but for the many. It speaks for an era, and Cheyenne captures the lack of respect and appreciation for our earliest tales and epics perfectly. He has summarized our society's indifference. That is what makes it the brilliant work that it is.

I know, Rebel Virginia, the title of the competition is misleading because it uses the word art. MS Paint FTW.

It's the Nightmare on Elmstreet movie poster with some filters and flames added <_< At least he didn't put that gross bubble font with the gradient over the top of it this time.

I don't really care for any of this week's entries so I'm voting for D34TH because the one he made last week was awesome... plus he wants to win SOOOOOO bad.

Then create the SSSoTW: Signature with Substance and Soul of The Week. Oh and thanks to avoid all my argument to post some critics about the Cheyenne's sig. I knew I'd lose my time arguing with you,so it's just my fault.
