1.
Break it down then baby. I lost about 2K infra and about 500 tech. That doesn't make 15K NS. Or are you counting the navy I decommed postwar as damage?
Not that I have any real clue, but if they're just totaling up damages, you can't really expect them to know where every bit of lost ns comes from. I imagine they didn't know you had decommed any navy. Also, if you decommed it as a result of the war, wouldn't it still be considered ns that they have caused the alliance to lose? All that being said, looks like you guys are having fun, which is good by me.
2. I've recently completed a series of tech deals and am looking for some new sellers. I'm moving to 6mil/150 deals, in the form of 3mil out, 50 in, 3 mil out, 100 in. This is solid income for a seller, and decent incoming tech for me. I would still prefer long term deals, but as I stated in the op, I'll take what I can get for now. Feel free to reply here or message me in game.
3.
It was a witty remark aimed at an alliance that attention whores, or rushes polls, or something. I think.
It was more the poll flooding that mk tends to do.
4.
The poll only includes alliances that were competing, right?
This is correct. And I still stand by my statement.
5.
Look how that worked for Facepunch Alliance
If an existing alliance got a group of 500 nations added to their ranks, they could, with some creative banking have most at a 4k infra range, nuclear capable and into tech buying range in that amount of time. Sure, it might slow the growth of the existing nations a bit, but its do-able. If you added that many nations to a group like FOK, they would suddenly be #1 and have a huge numbers advantage in any prolonged war.
6. I like the idea of getting to 5k infra easier, but i'd say that each time you get knocked down, it gets a little harder to rebuild it, that way the war destruction still has a point, even if it is just making the nation pay an extra 5% on infra.
7. If one group really wanted to have a better chance than the other in the next war, all they'd need to do is recruit new players from out of the game directly into their alliance. If, for example, one alliance jumped in numbers of players by even half that, they would be in fantastic position to win any war within 6-8 months.
8. I'm surprised that nobody complained that mk wasn't included in the poll. Also, get adding, those alliances that didn't finish.
9. Congrats on the new flag, MK, good luck with the changes to your fa dept.
10.
MK humbly asks TFD to pay them $9mil in damages to a nation under 10k strength, claiming that those were the minimal costs of the damage done, despite TFD having absolutely no control over what happened (I would know) and everyone hails them as reasonable and just! Oh how people will praise the strong, rebuke the weak, and agree with the popular kid.
I'll make a deal with you, if the real elected, appointed or whatever leaders of TFD post here that they think that 9mil is unreasonable, I'll pay it for them. That being said, isn't this issue completely resolved for everyone? I don't see the fuss.
11. I'm not sure that the op properly accounted for how much 99% of the rulers of alliances will have to justify any actions to the masses. What I mean is I'm not sure many alliance leaders have the samd level of power as the alliance they represent, because if they screw up, they can be removed from office fairly easily. Only those with very stable, emperor like positions are really as powerful as they seem, imho, and not every one of them, at that. All that said, interesting opinions.
12. Nice work, I guess that most of these aren't surprising really, but its certainly interesting to see them all in one place for easy reference.
13. It seems to me that most browser based games have a basic life cycle, maybe cn is moving towards its "later years"... I still think the best thing to do is pick a date, at LEAST a year ahead, and announce that on that day, final stats will be taken, and then the game will start over with everyone at zero. How many of you doubt that it would make for an insanely exciting year? I'm willing to bet numbers of players returning would skyrocket, and that there would be very little restraint in the last 3 or so months as people tried to jockey for the top alliance/bloc spots. Sure, it might make people a little upset, but that's bound to happen. As for the former donation money argument, I don't see it. I've donated in the past, and I wouldn't care about it. You risk losing all that investment in a war the day after you get it, it happens. I'm fairly certain that eventually the game will find the floor in terms of total players, but I don't have any idea what that floor is. I still think word of mouth is the best way for these games to grow, but that's just/my opinion.
14. Good luck with your semi-retirement, Hoo. And congrats on the promotion Taut.
15. I'm looking to buy tech, 6mil/150, would love long term, but it's fine with me if you want to only do one or two deals. I've been around plenty, if you want to check references or anything like that I can give you some, money will always come on time. I'm a member in good standing in FAN, any .gov can confirm that. If you're interested, either reply here, or PM me here or in game. I can frequently be found on IRC as Caesar[FAN], if you'd like to talk in person. 16. I got a message about this earlier in-game... I already got 100 tech sent to the person I had to send. It was sent through my friend Squid of Lucaeterna, a member of the ODN to steodonn.
17.
HAHA That Philosopher picture was AWESOME. mpol once again delivers the awesome. Congrats on joining SF and C&G Who are you going to side with when they attack each other?
That's when we open the bunker doors, grab the guns and start to shoot everything that moves, breathes or is in the way. 19.
Is UPN's gain not 0.24? Which if it is means we're the 2nd biggest gainers of the day, like I foresaw.
The gain was .24, you are correct, but that puts you at the 3rd best gain, not second. Still, an impressive gain.
20. Not only that, but if it is a sign of good faith, then protection shouldn't be necessary, especially if it's only nuke decomming.
21. Our game of Cyber Nations has produced, through it's time, some interesting things. The one that caught my mind today, was inter-alliance friendship. I don't mean having friends in another alliance, but friendship between alliances. Most treaties in this game are based off of political maneuvering and/or friendship. It occurs to me, that despite what you may think, you're probably not actually friends with that alliance. Sure, you might know 10-20 members of the other alliance, and know most of them well, but then, chances are, and this holds true of most non-micro-alliances, there are MANY more you don't know. Now, chances are they are much like the ones you do know, because most alliances are groups of like-minded folks, but you do never know. Most often, this friendship is established government to government, and this, I believe, is the reason that we have in the past seen so many groups reailgn themsemelves. This also might not represent alliance-alliance relationships as a whole A decent example of this, is the MK-TOP relations previous to the ongoing conflict. The leaders of both alliances stated mutual liking and respect for each other, while the general membership showed the opposite. It's situations like these that make this game interesting and fresh. But true friendship between large groups of people is very rare to come by, and takes time, something that this game does not afford to many.
22. Our plan is nearing completion, soon we will have complete control over Farkistani Erections. Congrats guys.
23. Not really much of a review, to be honest. More of a couple of statements. That said, I love milk. I drink 1%, simply because when I drink nearly a gallon a day, it gets expensive, and the 1% is the cheapest. Also, for all those saying chocolate milk, I must enlighten you to the glory that is the official state drink of Rhode Island, Coffee Milk.
24. I'd say PC and Valhalla were the two alliances I was most impressed with this way through, though I didn't pay much attention to the fronts outside of ours.
