  1. tl;dr: North Macland is an idiot. You're trolling here. Hal and his alliance may be allies with NPO, but in all my days I have never seen Hal be anything but an honourable man of integrity, and he is nobody's marching boy.
  2. The Realm of Magenta Government Of Magenta Magenta’s nominal ruler is His Excellency, Lord Ammon, son of Ammon. The Lord’s throne is in Petra, the largest city in the realm. His Excellency receives half of all taxes levied in the Realm. However, underneath His Excellency the Lord there are seven different counties, each with their own Count and Countess who hold dominion in that part of Magenta. Beneath that, there are several different Barons in each County, each of whom control a Barony. If you continue to search deeper you find that each Barony is divided up into estates, and estates are governed by Marshals who, unlike Counts and Barons, are appointed by the local Baron and serve until they are dismissed. Counties There are five different counties within Magenta, and the various Counts are constantly struggling for dominance over their peers. Counts are allowed to keep two eighths of all taxes levied in their County. Below are the Counties listed in order of current wealth and political power. This will be updated as needed. County – Count – Number of Baronies County of Aries – Sir Dagon - 6 County of Libra – Sir Ollisar - 4 County of Saggitaria – Sir Gareth - 3 County of Pisces – Sir Balakard - 3 Baronies Each of the four counties has between three and six baronies, and the Realm of Magenta has a total of sixteen. Barons, while holding less power than Counts, are more involved in the actual goings-on and have more connections among the merchants and other members of the middle class. As well, their ability to appoint and remove Marshals at will gives them far more power than one would think. Barons are allowed to keep one eighth of all taxes levied in their Barony. Estates Marshals are responsible for most of the day-to-day administration duties of the government, including law enforcement and the collection of taxes. While almost all Marshals are corrupt in their dealings with the peasantry (indeed, it is almost impossible to survive in the government of Magenta without some level of corruption), certain Marshals earn a reputation for being reasonably fair and just in their actions. Marshal’s are allowed to keep one eighth of all taxes levied in their estates. Military of Magenta The Royal Army of the Realm is a standing army administrated by the Lord, who appoints an Archon to organize the Royal Army and to lead it into battle. The Royal Army is responsible for patrolling Magenta’s borders and for defending the Realm’s sovereignty.
  3. Sir Dagon, Count of Aries and Representative of His Excellency, Lord Ammon, son of Ammon, stood before the Assembly in his finest garb, having spent the last weeks riding across the continent to make his case here in Realm. "Gentlemen of the Assembly, I stand here before you as a representative of the newly confederated Realm of Magenta. His Excellency Lord Ammon has sent me here to make a case for Magentian membership in the Pan-African Coalition." Taking a breath, the Count continued. "In order to show how important this is to our Realm, His Excellency chose not to send a common diplomat, but rather sent myself, the second most powerful man in the Realm. We are truly dedicated to the concept of African unity, and African stability is one of our highest goals. We may not have enough of a military today to make us a powerful player on the world stage, but rest assured that this will not be the case for long. "I implore you, my African brothers. Accept the Realm of Magenta into your Coalition, and you will not regret it."
  4. In the Northwest of Africa, a new sovereignty has begun to emerge. Under the leadership of his Excellency, Lord Ammon, the four Magentian counties have united to form one nation. His Excellency, Lord Ammon, son of Ammon, sat contemplatively upon his throne, staring out the grand bay window of his palace and watching the peasants of his city as they made their way from building to building, scurrying through the streets as if nothing had changed in the past weeks. However, something certainly had changed. Where a month ago there were only four skirmishing counties, each with their own small militarys, small economies and large ambitions, you could now find a singe Realm. Certainly the various nobles of each county still felt a need to bicker with one another over resources or the Lord's favour, but thankfully Ammon's ascent to the throne had marked an end to the bloodshed of Magentian people at the hands of their own brothers. Yes, it truly was a good day to be alive, and a good day to be Magentian.
  5. I went from being a Pacifican loyalist who couldn't really stand the UJP to being a Voxian, so we haven't seen eye to eye on a lot of things. However, I have always had a lot of respect for you, and shall continue to do so. One of my favourite alliance leaders, and probably one of the most decent people I have enjoyed seeing on these forums. Keep up the good work, Hal.
  6. Well, unless I'm mistaken, the War Planners of Bob have a staff retreat this weekend, so I doubt anything will happen for a couple of days at least.
  7. The name of my land is "Duplessis", sorry if I didn't make it clear.
  8. Having addressed his people, the newly chosen President of Duplessis took a seat at his office desk and began to pen an open letter to the outside world. To All it May Concern, Recently, the people of Duplessis have taken it upon themselves to unite under one centralized government in the form of the Most Serene Republic of Duplessis. In doing so, they have chosen myself, Alexandre de Bergeron, as the first President of the Republic. In the past weeks we have mobilized the Grand Amry of the Republic to secure our borders, which include the city of Montreal and the outlying areas (OOC: See here). Any attempt to infringe, invade or otherwise compromise our sovereignty shall be dealt with swiftly. Sincerely, Alexandre de Bergeron President The Most Serene Republic of Duplessis
  9. Alexandre de Bergeron sat in his chambers, half listening to the radio as it crackled and hissed, occasionally giving a tidbit of information on the ongoing election. Between the static, Bergeron caught moments of clarity. Rimouski County has gone to Bergeron... Bouvier County has gone to Bergeron... Monte Robespierre County has gone to Lemieux.... Bergeron sighed. The last years had cost him many friends, and even more political allies. As he had pushed for the formation of a united Republic for the people of Duplessis, he had made more enemies than he thought possible. Representatives from the various Duplessi towns and villages and seemed almost unanimous in their opposition of a single, centralized government. However, as his movement began to pick up steam among the population of the Duplessi Region (RL: Montreal and part of the Quebec mainland), their politicians had slowly fallen in line. Now, after nearly four years of factious debate in the Council of Mayors, Bergeron found himself a leading contender for being the first President of the Most Serene Republic. At only 36, Bergeron was easily the youngest of the candidates. Claude Lemieux, a corrupt yet popular politician from the North, was already in his mid-sixties, and that fiery populist, Guy Lefleur, practically had one foot in the grave. Bombardier County has gone to Lefleur... Impatient, Bergeron stood up and began to pace. A lifelong bachelor, Bergeron's greatest weakness was the lack of a proper support system. Ever since being born into one of Duplessis' wealthiest and most politically entrenched families, Alexandre had struggled. Raised almost solely by his Mother, Bergeron had never been able to truly connect with people, despite being one of the most charismatic and intelligent people Duplessis had ever produced. The election is over! Bergeron has won! With twelve counties reporting a victory for Alexandre Bergeron, he has already secured a majority of seats! The final tally... Bergeron knew he should be elated. This was the culmination of his life's work. And yet, he felt nothing but anxiety. In the streets, the people cheered. Soldiers of the Grand Army of the Republic walked through the streets, holding high the new flag of Duplessis. All eyes were on the balcony of Bergeron Manor, where the newly elected President was expected to make his first speech as leader of the now united Duplessi people.
  10. I think it is important to take note of the fact that the good Xiphosis may be stubborn, but not unreasonable.
  11. My dear Count, as a founding member of Vox Populi, I know full well what goes on behind closed doors. And as someone who has walked away from that life, I know full well that believing the Vox line is no better than believing any party's line if you're looking for the truth. The fact of the matter is that you simply have nothing of interest to add to the conversation.
  12. Barely containing his own laughter, the good Baron smiled cheerfully before offering up a couple of sentences to the Count. Whoever you may claim to be, if the rumours on the streets are correct and you are indeed a continuation of a former leader through some sort of witchcraft or other divine art, then you certainly have no place here. Having been shown the door by both sides of the conflict doesn't really give you the right to comment on the goings-on between them.
  13. Question: What if we have considerably less technology in game than 100?
  14. The Kaiser should well be put to death.
  15. The Baron rises from his seat and points an accusatory finger in the direction of Kaiser Gutenhagen. You claim fellowship with this man, and yet you will not place your own kingdom at risk. People like you disgust me.
  16. The Baron's eyes glance over the document handed to him by his aide, but after several seconds of skimming he sets it down, disinterested. After the tabloids had their fun, I must say I expected a tad more when I heard it had become an actuality. Nevertheless, I wish thee good luck, for you are all honest and fair alliances, as far as I can tell.
  17. I should like to claim the Island of Montreal, as well as some of Southern Quebec.
  18. Forum Name: New Frontier Nation of Choice: Duchy of Cruxis Character Role of Choice: Duke Name of Choice: Alexandre de Bergeron Weapons of Choice: A small daggar, used sparingly. Skills: Charisma, intelligence, and cunning.
  19. So, like Vox except not funny, no friends, no members and aren't attacking an alliance nobody cares about? At least VP tries to stay relevant.
  20. To those who think that tC only lets people off of their lists for "positive PR", then why would they let people like myself off? I certainly never made a thread like this, in fact, coming back was perhaps one of the most un-public things I've done.
  21. Bring back Emperor Charles and Azure Mantle.
  22. First, I was actually joking. And second, I was around for when maroon actually had a community forum, and maroonity that went beyond treaties.
