1. In regards to term five, you could have simply demanded UINE swear fealty to your alliance and be done with it. It worked for Ivan in a sense, after all.
2. It's threads like this which help itigate the general dislike of Batallion. For whatever it's worth, he wasn't such a bad guy back when I was working with him in OPP. Then again, back in that time a lot of things were better.
3. Haven't seen this much pseudo-anger over a bunch of ribbons in a long while. Most amusing. Congratulations to all who were recognized.
4. Congratulations on the end of this conflict. Hopefully you'll have learned something from this event and take the lesson with you.
5. This probably falls under the guise of "The forms must be obeyed". Perhaps it lends legitimacy by leaning on history. Either way, I can't disagree with the stupidity of the continued inclusion.
6.
Please. This is a situation that has piqued my curiosity, I "let go" the second I was betrayed (for want of a better word).
If you're going to be curious about something, posting call-out messages for public viewing isn't going to convey an educated image to others. Just a thought.
7. Is there any confusion here that the size of the involved parties as well as treaty connections has determined how this will land? Were SUN the larger party and of more use, Exodus would be forced to the table grovelling. Truly, nothing changes as the 'verse rotates around the political drain.
8.
The article is praising you for using our own strategy against us, actually.
Your logic is getting in the way of the indignant mockery. Stop it.
9.
Well this makes sense. I guess by Goose, being quite inactive, stepping down in favor of Liz, who is very active and plays a very big part for CSN, we're staying the exact same.
I'm sure those to whom your alliance prostrates itself will be pleased to hear this.
10. Is it a completely lost point at this juncture that any debate on this subject is entirely moot? The war is effectively concluded and not a single person will be convinced that their party line is wrong. But hey, pointless and circular arguments can be entertaining in their own way I guess.
11. Sometimes it's nice to see a commitment to mediocrity and nepotism continue from an alliance. Sometimes.
12. > Priority communications scrambler online... > Uplink with orbital array GSS-31 complete... > Opening general broadcast channel... > Playback commencing... We have seen the destruction that is being wrought across the face of the planet. Nuclear hell has, once more, been unleashed. The death toll has moved beyond count and climbs still further. Entire nations are being swallowed whole, their populations massacred while uncaring leaders sit in their hardened bunkers and demand yet further sacrifices. Barbarian invaders scramble over the once-proud edifices of government, symbols a forgotten time cast aside in favor of blood lust and death. We watch and we wait, much the same as many others, we are sure. We wait for this latest spasm of violence to die down in the hopes that something better will come of it. We wait for the day when, maybe, all of the pain which has brought the world to the brink and then over it will finally be assuaged with enough slaughter and souls to allow it to be left behind. Revenge has annihilated this world time and time again. Will this time possibly mark a turning point? Don't mistake the message for blind optimism. All of you have very long memories, turned inaccurate by time and emotion. The smallest slights against you become feuds stretching beyond anything reasonably resolved. An incautious word becomes the basis of a conspiratorial pattern of behavior, brought up years later. Minds are not permitted to be changed, mistakes cannot be corrected and once judged an entire nation is beyond being given a second chance. We have seen how this grand game of what some might consider intrigue is played. Your politics have brought you into the teeth of a nuclear holocaust you willingly repeat over and over again to no end. Perhaps you will learn to avoid these mistakes the next time. Perhaps not. We will see. We expect your derision in response to our statement. We have heard your rallying words Everything. Must. Die. It is our hope that something will live. Hopefully what survives this orgy of self-consuming rage will be more rational than what we have seen with a larger goal than violence as an end unto itself. We expect mocking tones, for the current political climate demands shows of bravado. We expect content-less drivel, for there has been no demand for anything more in a very long time. We expect to be surprised by how far below our expectations some of you will fall. The forms must be obeyed, and so the hordes shall come screaming, but we care not. We speak for all of those who cannot or will not. This world waits for something better. To whomever the reigns of control pass after the last missile impacts and the last bullet hits home, we will be noting your conduct. When the time has again become right, when this world promises something more than petty bickering and the demand for lives to be sacrificed in the name of pride, perhaps we will join you again. For now, continue as you always have, for this is all you know. Perhaps you will learn, in time. For now, we will continue to wait, for our patience is beyond exhaustion. > Closing transmission.
13. I don't see how SF is any better/worse than any other bloc, frankly. Behavior in general around these parts has been garbage for a long time. It's become a matter of very slim relativity except in a few rare cases.
14.
I sense the makings of a great gov. joke in there somewhere.
There's a huge number of jokes in there. That being said, the string associated with this alliance will move into the past. A shame, but it was inevitable.
15.
I don't know why TGE always got such a bad rap. They seemed fine to me. Anyway, good luck.
Hypocrisy combined with egotism and a largely confused mass of persons who couldn't fathom how the place kept running for so long.
16.
Gerrard Turrill (Tokugawa Mitsukuni/Hermann Hoth) - Brilliant MoW in your time. You were ahead of the game, and were on your feet whenever you needed to be. You were a true friend, and a great fighter. March on, wherever you are.
Cheers for the shoutout. It's a shame - there was a period of time when I'd hope to see TGE burned to the ground. While that sounds petulant, it would have been fitting to see the alliance die on its feet, shooting with everything it had to the last. A fitting end, as it were. Seeing it end like this, on such an empty note, doesn't sit well with me. As much as the alliance was populated with persons who I disliked, it deserved better than this. In a way, the 'verse will be poorer for this loss. Cheers for the good times, the past and all that came from it. To Ghostlin's sentiment, I can't disagree. Rest well.
17. From the Desk of the Lord of the Entente I STILL CANNOT FIND MY PANTS! And once again the 'verse finds itself involved in a war. Rulers are here on the OWF whining, complaining, screaming, crying and generally celebrating the same old way they usually do when such momentous occasions arrive. RIA is being random, TIO are couping someone or other, VE are acting like a bunch of self-important clowns who can't hear over the sound of their own panting as they visually stroke their stat counts, RoK still have a cool flag, etc. Really, not much has changed from the last go 'round (whichever one it was - I haven't bothered keeping real track since the Karma War ended and people generally stopped actually trying to conduct themselves in a civil manner toward each other, but that's the price you pay to be free from Pax Pacifica). Cool beans, everyone. Nicely done. In the midst of this, watching from afar atop The Spike while the manufactorium continues to produce various charming items, one small detail continues to nag me about this war - the interaction between Lennox and the Entente. Lennox outright admits that the entire incident was a fabrication [1] and yet Impero cites the intent as lying with Dajabo of Polaris [2], specifically saying "An individual was aimed at our alliance via their Regent Dajobo, where he then gathered secure information and funneled it directly back to Dajobo himself". Since this revelation, I haven't seen much in the way of a redefinition of the Entente's stance on this issue. This prompts two inferences: 1. The Entente doesn't care about looking foolish since they got what they wanted and everyone else doesn't matter. 2. The Entente doesn't apologize since that actually means they have to admit to doing something wrong, an incident which would provide future ammo against them. Which one is it? I mean, Impero, Solaris, all of you have the guts to step onto the OWF and use big scary threatening words. You going to be equally as brave when it comes down to admitting there was a mistake made and, even if the war is on, y'all got played for fools and/or played your allies for fools? Probably would've made more sense to actually be honest then play at the moral high ground since now I see a lot of whining going on about Ragnarok not joining on your side and how offended y'all are. Can't really cry about someone not playing it straight when you got shown to the collective community to be full of refuse. Even better, when it's assumed that people are too stupid to pause when things don't seem to make sense, reconsider and maybe question what's going on here. As kingzog/Ashoka pointed out elsewhere, some people do engage in due diligence and attempt to discern the truth. Treating people like they're too stupid to figure things out really doesn't come off well. Remember how things were back before the middle of 2009? Open up a book and take a stroll back. tl;dr - VE, you going to man up and admit what happened or keeping assuming we're all stupid? (Please keep assuming we're stupid). Signed for Ferrozoica Hive, Gerrard Turill, C-in-C Imperial Forces, Hive Lord and Righter of Wrongs Please note that Voytek's law is in effect!* Have a lovely snowy day! *Voytek's Law: Unless you have something intelligent to add which will contribute to the discourse or your forum name is Voytek, please don't post here.
18. As much as I've had issue with some of your stances in the past, give them hell, Tigers. You've shown the quality of being good allies repeatedly. Polaris is lucky to have you.
19. Just to throw it out there, and forgive me if this has been raised before, but since the revelation that this entire war was a setup to spark some activity doesn't that render the whole moral crusade against the evil Polaris doing it again rather, well, misguided? Polaris got pinned with doing something it didn't do by admission of the person perpetrating the hoax so where is all the righteous vengeance coming from here? Seems a little hollow in light of that.
20.
Luckily for us instigators the game physically doesn't have enough time left in it for that kind of comeback (even assuming that it would be possible).
Well, here's to hoping you're correct then.
21.
An effective tactic for obliterating your enemies. It's the very purpose of war, isn't it?
Were true death of you opponent possible, yes. The history of the 'verse suggests that attempting such heavy tactics will not be as effective. Polaris has proved tenacious in the past - baying for their corpses only makes the instigators stand out from the mob.
