  1. I think this together with the thread makes nice basic material for a psychological study on what went wrong with the gRAMlins and its leader(s).

Admittedly, it's also nice to see some sound-bites from ram quoted by MPK on the thread a few days later in the same wording, tells you that independent thought is a big thing in gRAMlins.

  2. I am too starting to find all this continuous talking about The Grämlins a bit annoying, Bob, but I acknowledge your right to insist on it, especially considering how important they were for you.

However, I am surprised that you're still giving credit to the "insanity theory" about Grä/Ram. ITT that you, more than most of the other spectators, already came out (more than once?) with "it's that stupid that I can't believe so many intelligent people are/were doing it" statements.

Now, that's probably true: it is that stupid that they can't really be doing it (in the way and for the reasons they at first seemed to be doing it).

I don't know what they're about - maybe we'll never know - but I highly doubt that it's just "insanity": obviously there's some plan going on.

It's not insane that they woke up with the idea of unconditional surrender at one point, it's definitely a bad idea for many reasons in moral terms, but it's not insane if you can enforce this on your opponents. That is the only practical limit of peace terms (or not if you don't want to actually offer them).

What is, by all means, insane is insisting on that plan long after it became enforceable, against the amount of public resistance, killing your own alliance in the process of sticking to the plan.

So not the plan, but the failure to realize it failed, and then sticking to it is completely nuts. No plan should be pursued if it ends up hurting mostly the one who made the plan in the first place

  3. It's tough when you have to recognize that something you helped build is falling apart, but that is, in this case at least, likely how things will continue to go until nothing is left.

A sad ending for what was once a proud and honorable alliance, envied for their values and nation building (I still also remember the times where Grämlins were the best tech sellers out there when few recognized the value of it).

Admittedly, I wished my ally and my alliance weren't part of the death struggle of your former alliance, but considering their current state, it seems we will be there until the very end.

  4. You aren't allowed to be in DAWN without having been in ODN first.

While it is true that you guys are a basic training camp for most of DAWN's membership, we've adapted our application process so that we can now directly work with quality applicants.

Although anyone joining ODN and immediately quiting afterwards has shown potential to be a successful member of DAWN.

  5. I understand where you're coming from and agree with most of it, but I wouldn't say that demanding back past reps contributes to the spiral of violence. By the very nature of the extreme inflation in tech, money, etc. that takes place in the Cyberverse over time, past reps will become increasingly insignificant amounts. Far more insignificant than they were when originally taken. But regardless, simply demanding the reps back does not perpetuate the cycle of violence because you're keeping the amount constant. First of all, it doesn't lead to ever rising reps, and second of all the alliance who originally took said reps has no real justification for taking reps should they be on the winning end of a future war.

If alliances were to stay the same for yours, that will be true. But if you realize that most alliances change quite a lot in terms of membership, even leadership, structure, in a course of a year, you will end up starting a new cycle, even if the numerical amount was the same.

A cycle of revenge hardly ever ends when one side did exactly as much wrong to the other as that side did to the one side. It will likely be one of many cycles of revenge until one side finally either ceases to demand retribution for a past wrong, or one side kills of the other once and for all.

  6. Hi Scutterbug, it's nice to see you again and equally pleasurable to have MHA's support. I assure you we are working tirelessly on a solution to the problem at hand, I am informed that exposing Gremlins to bright light kills them, as such I am currently in search of a 30,000 watt bulb in order to inlighten our current foes. It is my hope that the Gremlins will be lovable Mogwi in the not so distant future.

    MCRAB you peacenic

  7. Actually i wasn't talk to you in my comment before, i was talking to SCY about how they don't deserve personal attacks or insults, you just happened to be the one using the insults. If you want to believe i was talking directly about you then sure go ahead. I've also been tech dealing with the grämlins since my nation was born. So sure go ahead and try to dismiss my comments just ebcause i happen to have been tech dealing with the gremlins for idk 90 days or so.

Well, you mentioned me in your post, so sorry for assuming you were talking about me...

And regarding your innocent little tech trading, you definitely are aware of what gRAMlins are doing to two alliances at the moment, and still you keep sending them tech, just today for example. Incase it isn't clear to you, you are committing an act of war against us with that, when you started doing so is of no relevance, it's now that counts. So I simply assume you are supporting gRAMlins, through your posts here, as well as ingame wise, so yeah, thanks again for giving me that perspective.

  8. I've only seen on response, supercoolyellow, from shilo to omas nams post, and it's here. As far as i can see i'd be slightly annoyed that i was trying to act in a decent manner in responding to a post then having someone go directly to personal attacks. Sure you can't like what grämlins are doing but to just say hey you deserve the personal attacks after responding to my blog is poor form.

Indeed am curious as to why you attempt to make this topic about me, when I have no problem admitting I am not important enough to have a blog dedicated to me. But looking at your AA, seeing as your nation bio states "tech dealing with gremlins" and you sending tech to an alliance that is keeping us in a perma-war, gave me the perspective I missed before.

  9. I'm not trying to spin things Shilo. Merely saying that when someone is making a post you then insult them straight away, surely that is detrimental to what you're tying to achieve? Anyways, best of luck with whatever it is you do Shilo.

At the moment I am past achieving anything with you guys, except working on your lower tier. As I realize you aren't interested in changing your minds regarding that perma-war of yours against us, there is nothing that will happen until you do change your mind.

I know, from your safe position up there, either waiting to destroy the few remaining top-tier nations we have left, or happy to stall our growth indefinitely, this may all look far away and irrelevant, but for me it is very relevant. It's why I am sick of your and your alliance mates dodging of concrete issues, no content responses or simply cluelessnes to what your government has done/is doing.

So maybe I am trying to achieve the release of some anger towards you guys, and present the perspective of those you currently have under your boot and have no intention of releasing.

Compare me to someone who just got mugged and is screaming at the guy who mugged him. Don't expect friendly words until you apologize and return my wallet.

  10. So yea I'm done with this. You said something about not being able to communicate with us and yet when I come here and make a post you decide to insult me, that's really gonna make me want to talk to you about all this. So I'm done trying to converse with you, if you decide you want to act with even a modicum of respect then let me know and I'll think about responding.

    :v:

Lol, yet another attempt to spin the facts. You and your alliance refused to talk to us, your allies, for the past 3 weeks. Now you're not gonna talk to me? I am shocked, truly...

I make you an offer though: If you are interested in stopping your perma-war against us, you can come to me and I am sure I'll listen to what you have to say.

  11. I don't think anything will "help in this situation". Omas is one of the highest ranking members in an alliance that chose to alienate most of it's allies just to continue a war to achieve something dubious in the realm of "trying out new ideas" and "you'll find out once you surrender unconditionally".

He and his alliance are beyond reason since they in the middle of peace talks declared they no longer adhere to the terms their government had acknowledged just before, and refused to come back to their senses after everyone involved attempted to talk to them for several weeks, leading to the delaying of the global peace for over week. He and his alliance mates either attempt to downplay their deeds, spin the truth, or as Omas himself tried, declare this an internal matter...

Sadly, it's not nonsense to call the alliance autistic. Not reacting to outside influences, living in their own world, not caring for the damage done to others, calling that autistic is quite friendly...

  12. Shilo, you are severely mistaken if you think we would be so low as to try and gain attention by 'destroying' your alliance (which we are not doing). And seriously, how old do you think our members are, 5 ?

And I'm trying as hard as possible to try and remain respectful throughout this whole thing. But when people like you and others come along and try and !@#$ all over something I've put work into for 3 years, and the people I've worked with for that long it becomes very difficult.

When someone wants to keep my alliance and my ally in perma-war, I don't honestly care much why you are going crazy, I just note you are.

And I'd give you 7, you should be tall enough to see a computer screen, definitely not a bit more mature than that though.

That said, since you think you can sit on top of us forever or until we roll-over and surrender ourselves to your mercy, I have a hard time being friendly with you guys, especially since screwing over everyone who talks to you in an official capacity is your way to handle business.

However, the general problem I see with your last sentence is that you are acting like an autistic child in all of this. Incase you haven't noticed, you, you in person, your alliance government, your entire alliance, are the ones pooping over what you put in 3 years of your lifetime. Everyone else is just pointing out to you that you all lost your mind, the illness is with you, not with everyone else except you guys. You can change all that, realize the problem soley rests with you, and start acting reasonable again, and people over time may forget how you screwed them over.

  13. Likely their perma-war against us is a desperate attempt to gain any kind of attention, rather than just quietly fading away. Generally I do sympathize if one does everything to keep an alliance alive, but doing this at a cost of two other alliances isn't the way anyone with honor would handle that.

If that is the only way to keep some level of activity and interested up in gRAMlins, maybe they are better off disbanding before their name continues reaching new record lows on a daily basis.

  14. Enough information can be gleaned from the first edition of the peace terms leaked on Ejay's blog a month or so ago, and from the thread on World Affairs. Grämlins appear to be demanding an unconditional surrender (i.e. 'you surrender and then we can do what we like') from IRON.

I know DAWN is small, still I insist that we are named as well when we should be ;)

  15. Well, I think as has been mentioned by banksy before, it quite also depends on the alliance you are in. Some alliance have a small group of leaders do all the "politics" among themselves, and give out little info to their common membership for various reason "Opsec" for example has been mentioned.

There is nothing wrong with that at all, as if such an alliance openly recruits without intensive screening, it actually always will be an issue. And above all, if you don't like how this alliance approaches keeping their membership informed, you can always chose one that will be more open with its membership.

My take is that, as the OP already hinted at, a lot (I won't say 99% :P ) of players are quite happy that a few active people are doing all the work, including talking to foreign governments, keeping contacts with other players, because they can't/won't invest the time necessary to do it themselves. So I really think, if you feel you are completely kept in the dark, and left out of important decision-making and the information required to do so, it's mostly your choice.
