9.
Now that this is resolved, the only question remaining is how much juice people who hate UPN can get out of this 'diplomatic incident'. The ironic thing about people chiding us because we were trying to shamelessly secure an ally/techfarm is that the people who were banned from that channel were most likely trying to do something similar... Go go go!
It depends on how much class people want to have. Kick UPN a bit because a young, new alliance had some IRC problems? I'm sure some people will go for it. I for one am very pleased to see that facepunch has regained control of its methods of communication.
 10.
This is precisely why the game is so boring and is in decline. No public diplomacy means that there is no public drama and this means that the public is bored senseless by the bland streams of propaganda that hits the OWF, and there is little to no reason to even visit OWF or the forum in general anymore.
I must have dozed off during the time when the CN OWF was a vibrant bastion of discussion and debate on matters of affairs of state. As I write this post, the thread underneath is a compilation of poorly drawn sketches painted (with MS Paint) by someone half-mad articulating the history of CyberNations ... shall we say crudely, and I get accused of dumbing down the OWF? *chuckles*
 11.
You are wrong. The onus is indeed on you to 'educate' the rest of the players, if you have indeed changed and you wish for the rest to know that and treat you accordingly. Private channels have all too often been used to speak one story to one person and a different story to the next. While I agree the OWF is a cesspool, it is nevertheless the only place where these conversations can take place in public view, where statements made can be seen by all, and by posterity.
No, I'm not wrong. You are wrong. See how easy that was? *shrugs* Diplomacy isn't done on the OWF. It's done other places. If you want to hear us out, come to our forums and listen. Heck, I'll come to your forums even. If you want to continue playing whatever little game you're playing right now to stroke your own ego or gain some credit with whatever people you happen to think are important, I recommend pontificating on the OWF. But if you're sincere in wanting to hear what the NPO has to say, I'll see you on our forums.
 12.
I will be completely serious with you as well then. Admitting in a general nonspecific way that mistakes occurred doesnt mean anything. Anyone that has lost a round knows they made a mistake somewhere. I read that and I notice that it doesnt say *what* specifically was mistaken, what level of mistake, what you have or will do to make up for it, what you have or will do to avoid repeating it - it tells me nothing I didnt know before I read it. This, on the other hand, could be a start, it shows some specificity at least. But it is only a start, it only raises more questions. Why specifically was it wrong to attack GATO? What have or will you do to try to make that right? What have or will you do to avoid making the same mistake in the future? I had hoped that would be the case, but until now saw zero evidence for it. Tell me more.
It's not our responsibility to educate you. The New Pacific Order has made many specific statements on our past foreign policy, both publicly and privately, specifically on the matter of GATO as well. GATO was in fact mentioned in an Imperial Decree not too long ago. If you have a question about the New Pacific Order, I invite you to come to our forums, set up an embassy if you don't have one already, and ask your questions. You will find us more obliging there than in the [] cesspool of the OWF.
 13.
This is very true, and to relate it back to what I was saying originally, the only major alliance that has dared to take a step out of this is the Grämlins, and look at how they are being demonised for it. Yet, the demonisation hasnt had its traditional effect, at least not yet, which is what I see as the one really hopeful sign for the future of the game. If that war is allowed to play on out on its own terms without interference, it would actually mark a real and desperately needed change in this game, rather than just a shuffling of chairs. Is that a personal opinion or a sarcastic retort?
You don't know Bakamitai very well.
I do not believe Gremlins' treatyless policy is the reason they are being demonized.
Gremlins is being demonized because the stench of their decay, which they hitherto had kept within their own walls, is now drifting over to the rest of Planet Bob.
 14. I was so very worried people had forgotten us.
 15.
If you consider a smear campaign that is nothing more than a piss-poor attempt at milking some PR points to be diplomatic, then it explains why Invicta is so frequently surrendering. As Tromp, Impero, Typo, myself, and others have stated, all that it would take for many alliances to hear out the apparent plight of surrendered parties is for them to drop the rhetoric and baseless accusations, and to actually conduct themselves in a somewhat diplomatic and professional manner. The forums have never been a place for negotiating or renegotiating surrender terms, or discussing sensitive issues, both due to the fact that entirely uninvolved parties can derail the process, and simply because other venues are far more practical. As for your comment regarding your signature, what I stated there is incontrovertible fact. The New Pacific Order has been able to sign treaties throughout its time spent under surrender terms; it is not my fault that, on the very few occasions they have sought permission to sign treaties (the fact that they have been able to seek permission to sign treaties is concrete proof that they are capable of signing them), there has been a minority of parties exercising their veto.
That's a ludicrously stupid argument. Really. I'm impressed. We also have the "capacity" to militarize and become a sovereign alliance, but we'd break our terms and be beat down again. But I guess we always had that "capacity" so these terms aren't really all that bad, eh?
 16.
Just out of curiosity, who if not Pacifica deserves to pay the highest reparations ever? (I realize that's not exactly what you said)
I don't care to answer speculative questions of the past. I'm not in this gig to write history; I intend to write the future.
 17.
Did NPO ever state that they felt the need to pay for past mistakes, or is the general consensus still that their actions were right/necessary?
I'm sure people will parse my words, but since people seem to think that it needs to come from straight from the blackbird's beak: The New Pacific Order has not (nor ever) sat idly by since April 20 of last year. We have examined the past and begun to forge our future. We have seen where we made mistakes and we have seen our victories. Do we think we needed to pay the harshest reparations the world has ever seen? No, of course not, and you won't find a Pacifican who thinks so. Does that mean we think everything our alliance has ever done was right and just? Of course not. We are not perfect. Francoism stands for the tenet that we all are but men, and though we simply unite our sovereignty in one person, we engage in the far more difficult task of uniting our wisdom in one person, and it is a task that is never complete. 18.
And in walks exhibit C, excellent. You are a perfect example of why the post-Karma era is so much better to live under than the Pacifican Hegemony. You systematically go around throwing out random insults at powerful alliances in the hopes of getting a reaction, and nobody cares enough to do anything about it. We let you be, because although you might be misguided we realize that you are ultimately harmless. Your alliance and your allies are battered. Any one of the alliances you so often taunt could roll you and take little damage. Hell, in CSN's case we didn't even need to go out of our way, you declared war on us. And when our most hated opponent was at our mercy, what did we do? We took $1 in reparations and sent you on your way. The Pacifican regime was nowhere near as lenient. Had someone in a non-Continuum alliance made that same post directed at NPO two years ago, the response would not have been pretty. Certainly they would not have remained second-in-command of any alliance with such a weak position for long. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.
You didn't know Corinan before he was in NSO, did you?
 19.
And it doesn't matter what we do; we will be the evil, 'just as bad as them' hegemony hypocrites simply just because. So why even bother?
What you do always matters. Once you've crossed the "screw it" bridge and think things don't matter, that's when your foreign policy fails.

 21.
I'd like to thank our newest propaganda officer for his fine work: Penkala. Keep it up man, you're doing us more good than this humble servant of Pacifica ever could.

I'd like to thank Penkala for his contributions to this thread. He has singlehandedly done more for NPO PR than all of the NPO posters in this thread.
Great minds think alike, eh comrade?

 23.
I'm not sure that telling everyone you and IRON are still best friends is necessarily what IRON needs right now. Though it won't surprise anyone, as IRON had been part of the inner circle of Hegemony alliances since GW3, and their only major non-Hegemony connection – Citadel via TOP – always seemed to be dragging TOP into the Hegemony rather than IRON away from it. (Not sure if that's ridiculous enough for you Shan? ) I enjoyed the Londo article, though I think it might be a bit subtle for this forum.
Well, Bob Janova, it's pretty simple: we're not going to lie to you. Generally speaking, we've got along with IRON for a long time. We've had our ups and downs, but we have a lot of mutual respect for each other. Pacifica isn't going to lie about her friendships or her animosities in order to score political points on the OWF.
