Who wants a new nation/player

Just joined game and have been iced due to war. Add in older potential alliance members being douches and I'm at a loss here. Is this a BS game based upon who you blow or a game based upon what you can do?....If the former no response required and I'll delete nation 2/19 the first date possible.

It's a game based upon what you can do.

It's a pity that you feel that the war is preventing you from playing. While we suspended our applications there's still much that you can do and learn in the meanwhile.
Also, keep in mind that Cyber Nations is a very slow paced game, and you've been in it for only four days: it's like being at the very first step of hundreds of kms long journey... You need to develop some more patience or you won't go far anyway.

And yes, people on IRC can be silly, but they can also be wonderful; maybe you've just been unlucky this far.

I appreciate what you're saying and realize it's not counterstrike. Buy Hey all..doesn't warrant "getting hit in the head with a bottle of Gin"...and nothing else. If Bob is populated w/ a bunch of 12 year old idiots, I REALLY don't belong here. I left WoW after a far greater investment of time and money (2 pimped 80's and 3 getting close) due to the influx of fools and I joined prior to you status whores.

Just wanted to chill, learn the lay of the land, and contribute best I could w/o being subjected to foolishness. I was willing to wait until war's end..but, if future "friends" are abusive..one really must question joining that group. I did NOT !@#$%* and beg. I did NOT ask for a damn thing or whine. And yet..it was deemed necessary to pitch virtual abuse my way for saying hello?

[18:22:47] Thrasher[F2theARK] slaps mykl42 with a bottle of gin

It takes a little bit to get used to the mind numbing atmosphere of IRC, but I can assure you that 99% of the time, anything you see that looks like abuse is all in jest.

You can't really expect to get anything out of this game if something like that scares you away. :P

Not scared..I've flown into the face of quad .50's with REAL bullets. I object to why in the world I would wish to affiliate myself w/ a group that holds so little respect for one another....HUGE difference from being scared.

I'm sure it took you a bit to get used to whatever caliber bullets are flying past your head too. You can't expect to understand the norms of this community if you only spend a few minutes in it. :P

What do those logs have to do with respect? People slap each other with all manner of odd things on irc, but it's done in a friendly joking way.

Hate to break it to you, you only have the first time you face it to get used to it. Real men don't feel it necessary to belittle another man to feel good about themselves. So, either you have boys trying or you have posers attempting to be men. I allowed for a response to account for the disrespect and none was forth coming.

SO either the game is full of douche bags or there is an alliance that actually has adult membership....I truly don't care....there are 1,000's of games and events to occupy my time. This is an attempt to find the truth and the donation for this month is a trivial investment...game has promise, players are the question now.

The variance alliance communities can be quite diverse. Shop around. If you can't find one to your tastes, create your own. Most people recommend agasinst doing this when you are new, but realistically, all you need is a couple of friends and the ability to think critically about the requirements of alliance building. Most people that start new alliances tend to be doing it to gain power or authority. This rarely ends well. If you can find a little help, and there are plenty of people who would be willing, you can create your own community. It's not necessarily easy but it's not actually hard either.

Well, let me make it simple for you. It gets far worse than harmless IRC quirks, and if you're going to pretend that real life norms are applicable here, then you're probably better off leaving.

Exactly, Also. If you quit something every time you run into an donkyhats, you wouldn't be on the internet. CN is full of d-bags but some of the people on here are the best people Ive met. MHA has some good guys over their. Give em a chance. Also the guy who slapped you was in FARK not MHA, so dont worry about it.

OK, the last post hit home.

I am a retired Marine officer and honor actually means something to me. Even in 2010. I was mistaken in my assumption that those on the alliance IRC were actually MHA members. I haven't been on an IRC channel in 10 years. I apologize to MHA and it's members for my unwarranted response.

There is certainly some of this here, as in any given social situation.

Depends, what can you do? I'm not being sarcastic. What kind of nation do you want and what do you have to offer a group that would help you get there?

Felt the need to expand. EVERY MHA member I've interacted with was an enjoyable exchange. It is entirely on me believing the FARK poser was MHA that this thread arose.

I did that, for a year and 9 months. Here is some quick advice IF you are as insane as I. Friend, besides ALL of the above, the big issue is time. This is true for anyone. However, to do it as someone new (which was my situation) there are a million unwritten rules to learn. You better have a high learning curve.

And in terms of people acting childish - believe me, you WILL have people treating you (and your alliance) in less than respectful ways (and here I am making an understatement.) Thus, you have to be able to deal with that in a constructive fashion (well, to keep your alliance going for a year and 9 months, you will :P )

This game has its people that take the game very seriously and those that are more lulzy. This is also a game with a great amount of history and as such political wars break out from time to time and the likely hood is that your alliance will be involved in this war and you will take damage even if you win.

In order to truly know if you would fit in here you have to know how much you want to devote yourself to this game and if you will be able to handle people who like to act stupid. If you only spend 5 minutes a day here and just want to grow your nation then join a neutral allinace. If you want to get into the heart of the game and be involved in the politics then join whatever alliance most fits your style and don't be afraid to leave an alliance if you don't like it their.

As a final note CN can get mean at times and if you don't have the ability to have thick skin when needed then it is unlikely this game is for you.
