Mariehamm Arms has mobilised 20,000 troops to the Molakian-Mariehamm Boarder, and 5,000 on both the Nordheim and ADI boarders.

Defcon: 2

A no-fly zone has been issued over Mariehamm territories. Acoustic-Mirror stations are at full alert.

Over-the-horizon radar has been activated, the signature "Woodpecker" sound being heard over shortwave radio across the world.

OOC:

:awesome:

Also, I found out how to make acoustic mirrors work with modern day issues. I can't wait to RP my defense developments this weekend.

We got so used to these kind of escalations, this time we wont even bother explaining why Europeans should run bakeries instead of nations to eventually lead to destruction and war. For these reasons we will not interfere in the conflict, nor give a single cent for reparations and so called "international aid". These people are responsible for Europe's devastation and yet they are allowed to command troops on the battlefields, with nations supporting them. Thats what we call being genetically unable to be a national leader.

"Viniland is deeply concerned about the mobilization of many European countries without any apparent reason. We hope that any issue those countries may or not have end up being solved through diplomacy or other peaceful means, rather than one more war."

Classified:

Intelligence agents in Europe are to be at the highest level of alert. A large-scale war may possibly break out.

"As Viniland, Canada is concerned about this military build-up. We agree with Viniland and hope that any issues will be sorted out peacefully and not through war."

And similarly, spies that were within european nations were brought to a higher level of alert, though Canada of course didn't know the Vinilandese movements.

The Republic Of Colstream has banned Colstream Citizens from entering Eastern Europe until further notice. All Colstream Citizens on holiday in the CSSR, Slavorussia and the immediate area of Europe have been advised to leave immediately.

Colstream President Tony Brown has issued the following statement at an emergency press conference:

"At this very moment large armies face each other along the eastern Slavorussian border. The situation is being monitored very carefully here at home and the Colstream people have nothing to fear. Colstream will be neutral in this war. I feel that enough war has been waged throughout Europe and this time they should talk rather than fight. But, this is not my decision to make. I just hope the crisis will be over soon."

Ground Forces

The entire Military Command was put on DEFCON 1. 150,000 soldiers crossed the border into the CSSR from the Moldova province, much of it mechanized and supported by helicopters [transport and attack] and tanks.

Air Forces

Fighters have begun flying patrol routes up to but not over the Ukrainian/Slavorussian border. Bombers have begun to be fuelled and loaded for long range missions.

Missile Command

Hidden silos have gone to alert status red. The ICBMs and IRBMs have been prepped and readied for launch.

The UK is extremely alarmed by this turn of events. Reports from our intelligence agencies seem to indicate that there's a buildup of troops of some kind, and to such proximity to us. We hope the situation will be resolved peacefully. Europe had had seen enough wars already.

As such, the UK Government has declared neutrality in this upcoming conflict (unless our treaties are activated). The Bosporus and Dardanelles Straits has been closed, except to allies, and a no-fly zone has been declared all over the country (meaning any non-allied aircraft that crosses into UK airspace will be asked to turn back, and failing that, shot down. The same goes for ships). Moreover, the country had been elevated to DEFCON 3 as the armed forces had been placed on alert. We are watching this very, very closely.

The European Fleet of the Tahoan Navy is at high alert, deploying out of Gibraltar early today. In addition, the hospital ship TNHS Mercy has been deployed from Havana, Cuba and is en route to the Mediterranean to assist in a humanitarian mission for civilians possibly hurt in fighting.

Alpha Battalion of the First Army has been deployed to the CSSR. Accompanying them is Omega Battalion of the First Armoured Group. The force totals 50,000 soldiers and 1,000 tanks. Additionally, the Third Air Force has been deployed to the CSSR, consisting of 50 planes in total. The Union has been placed on High Alert, and the National Guard has been put on regular patrols over borders, and the Naval Division of the National Guard has been patrolling Union waters with far more vigilance than previously. All national defence encampments have been manned, with the exception of inferior fortifications such as pillboxes and the like. Border Patrol has begun more in-depth checks of those coming into the Union.

Alerted to this build up of military forces the Templer Order has began to draw up possible plans of action to be taken incase of military action. Clearly the forces of the demons are making their moves sooner than would be liked but they would be met in force by the Templers.

"This ‘military exercise’ is alarmingly close to the Slavorussian border and the number of troops involved would suggest that there is more going on here than simple military exercises. If the CSSR and its allies could move their military exercies a little farther away from the border we’re sure it would help diffuse the situation and we can all return to a state of normalcy."

Ah, it may be a 'military exercise' to you, but they may not know that (or see it that way). Thus, they have reason to start worrying. After all, if your neighbor stations troops/tanks/whatnots right on the border, wouldn't that be cause for concern?

The first German units had begun to arrive in the Ukraine. Most of the infantry arrived on German transports; while, the heavy equipment was transported by train. After exiting their transports, the troops immediately headed towards their pre-positioned jump off points. They were equipped in full combat gear, wearing their standard XE-101 Xenias Infantry Gear and AVIR Assault Rifles. The heavy armour and artillery pieces were unloaded from their transportation cars and would move directly to the jump off points.

The units the Luftwaffe deployed were now arriving at bases in the Ukraine. The Lu-65s, Lu-67s and assorted bombers were a sight to behold, as they landed one after another. Upon landing, Luftwaffe crews would expect them and prepare them for operations. The bombers were to be equipped with guided munitions; while, the fighters were to be equipped with the new A-9 Air-to-Air Missile. This would be enough to deal with any target.

In the Kaiser's Palace, Scolar Visari read over the reports of the German mobilization. He was proud, to say the least. His Army was mobilizing at a tremendous pace; thus proving the Reich Armed Forces was capable of combating any threat. However, the world, especially SlavoRussia and her allies, didn't share the excitement. In order to ease it, he drafted a message that would be sent to embassies directly involved.

"As stated by previous sources, the suspension of diplomatic relations over an exercise shows the poor state of diplomatic skills in the world today. We only hope that these nations re-think their plans and next time give us sufficient time to reply to their messages."

Secret Meeting

In an undisclosed location, the two highest-ranking members of the Uralic-Bashkir military meet to ponder what to do in the situation.

Akhmetkhan Gubaidulin: That Council meeting was pretty heated, wasn't it, Jarkko?

Jarkko Salomäki: *sighs* Tell me about it. I do agree that we need to put the needs of the Uralic and Turkic peoples of Slavorussia before our own needs, however I also know that it is their bounden duty as Slavorussian citizens to defend their country. I don't wish for our country to be a harbour for deserters, especially not after what Slavorussia did for us when we were still part of Estovakia, and during the Civil War.

Gubaidulin: Then simply make our borders open to civilians. We already know which of our Uralic and Turkic brothers are in the military officially. Slavorussia gave that information to us as a gift for dealing with Dark Hand in our region.

Salomäki: Fair enough. How are military preparations going?

Gubaidulin: Better than expected. Our military should be fully ready for defensive purposes in case someone decides to hit us even though this campaign really shouldn't involve us. We do have a few cruise missiles in stock as well, but we really lack the capability to go on the offensive.

Salomäki: The ability to go on the offensive is of no concern to our nation at the moment. If we do get attacked, we will defend ourselves, however we will not harm a hair on the head of the attacker's civilian population. That wouldn't be Christlike, would it?

Gubaidulin: Hmmh. Good point. We aren't RUSSIAN members, anyway, so that is of no consequence.

Salomäki: What is the status of the construction of refugee camps?

Gubaidulin: Dr. Shlomov said it was going a bit slowly.

Salomäki: Well perkele. What can we do to speed it up?

Gubaidulin: Perhaps send a request to our neighbours in RUSSIAN for wood. We are running a bit low. How about DEFCON?

Salomäki: DEFCON 3. We are far enough away from the opening theatre that we don't need to be incredibly cautious, however we also need to let the people know about the situation so they can prepare for possible war... again.

Gubaidulin: *laughs* It never ends, does it, comrade?

Salomäki: It would seem not. DEFCON 3 it is then.

End Secret Meeting

UFA - Official Council Announcement

The Tribal Council of Uralic Bashkortostan has agreed to the following:

- our nation is in a state of DEFCON 3. The reasoning behind this is that, while we hope war will not come our way, as we are not currently members of RUSSIAN, we must be prepared for the errors that come with war, such as stray cruise missiles, malfunctioning nuclear targeting systems, or miscommunication in the ranks of ground or air forces.

- we are sending an official petition to RUSSIAN with all 201 signatures of the Tribal Council, asking for a million board feet of lumber so that we are able to build refugee camps for civilians living in Slavorussia (and potentially Bosporan, should they also be attacked) in the event of war displacement.

OOC: not sure if a million is too much. I just want enough to be able to build a few refugee camps.

- Uralic Bashkortostan WILL NOT declare aggressive or retaliatory war against any nation in this conflict for any reason, should it occur. However, we WILL defend ourselves.

And put the military on DEFCON 3

OOC: A bit of an off topic, but didn't Barbarossa die ungloriously by drowning?

OOC: Wrong reference...barbarossa was the name of the Nazi invasion of Soviet Russia in World War 2.

OOC: But slavery is freedom!

"We are honored to see that just a relatively small deployment of troops could represent so much potential danger to our neighbors, but sadly for all those warmongers expecting us to jump at their throats, that has never been our intention. Think about it, if we wanted to attack, we wouldn't sit around warning everyone..."

"This exercise is also before its formal start already a huge success, as we have managed to uncover Anti-Nordlandic sentiments in nations we so far thought only peaceful, and it has allowed us to see who in Europe truly a warmonger is."

"Lastly, as sovereign nations we never owe any explanations as to what we do with our military, or anything else for that matter, within our own Lands, we find the internationalist anti-sovereign attitude that many nations have displayed to be a repulsive sample from the sewers of their politics."

"Peace."

In response to Bosporan overreactions, all Bosporans have been given forced exits until Union citizens are permitted to remain in Bosporan. A trade embargo has been placed on Bosporan, and any ships caught passing through Union waters will be immediately halted and scrapped, the seamen sent home to Bosporan. Any Bosporan agents found in the Union will be immediately executed pending a trial, this changed from the original policy of imprisoning foreign agents for life.

In addition, the Third and Fourth Armies have been mobilized, and border patrols increased to enforce the new policies laid down.

Your propaganda would have some effect if it had any basis in the truth. Anti-nordic sentiments and warmongers? The Slavorussian armed forces took the necessary precautions required in a situation like this. The increase of armed troops and military equipment stationed along the entire northern and eastern border of the CSSR, which is only shared with Slavorussia is enough of a reason to be on one's guard.

Had it been vice-versa and we had positioned our military on the CSSR's borders with our allies contributing 100,000+ soldiers for 'military exercises' we would expect the CSSR and their allies to respond in the same way. However as good neighbors we would feel obligated to inform the CSSR that we were conducting military exercises in the area so as not to alarm them. We were given no such warning.

Be honest, would you sit idly by while forces are amassed on your border, especially from a country which you have no treaties with?
