  1. That's not a big deal though, is it? Intel operations would still have their own use, since you can use them without declaring war and organizing a coordinated attack. Every runner that placed last round turtled in some capacity. It's a dominant strategy - it's almost impossible to place anywhere near the top without avoiding war. Setting a flat percentage doesn't completely solve the problem, but it goes a long way to closing the gap. As for raising the damage level overall, that's exactly what the flat percentage does. Except it has the added advantage of doing proportionally more damage to those who turtle.
  2. The new rewards structure is great! While there are probably ways to "flag-run" under the new categories, providing different objectives will add a lot of depth to the game =)
  3. One of the reasons "flag-running" is viewed as so boring is because turtling is by far the best option to succeed. This is because as long as one maintains a sufficiently high warchest, it is impossible to do any meaningful damage to a runner. A runner can literally sit back, eat nukes/DAs/etc, and still manage to boost up to the top 10 on the last day without a sweat. To fix this, I propose changing Defeat Alert money damages from 5% money (capped at $600k) to 5% money uncapped. There are couple of things I want to note about this change: This provides a way to severely damage passive players if they do not defend themselves. A player with a $100 million WC eating 5 million dollar DA's is very significant. This provides a huge incentive for players to attack passive players. If someone wants to do a lot of damage, it is now possible to put a severe dent in a player's flag-running aspirations with a coordinated strike. This change would open other viable running strategies. A moderately warchested player that defends himself well could beat a turtling runner in the NS race by doing significant damage to him with DA's. This change only really affects runners, and not the majority of players. 5% DA's are not nearly as much damage towards a moderately warchested player, and does not affect their ability to rebuild to a relevant level This is a simple change (that has been suggested several times in SE) that I feel would greatly improve the quality of play in TE.

  5. Fun read. Refreshing to see something more blunt on the forums.
  6. From what I can see, Feder is a ghost. We'll get this confirmed with gov. tomorrow morning. Also looking at his aid history, people really need to stop feeding the guy tech-deals, because he's clearly not paying them back.
  7. Not sure why completely uninvolved parties are trying to make a fight of this. It's been a fun ride AO, and best of luck to wherever the treaty-web takes ya.
  8. Well I'll be back in another few weeks when we're repeating the same rhetoric with "150-200 nations." Good luck folks.
  9. Bleh that was a poor way of expressing that the current situation in the high-tier wouldn't exist. Either way, I don't believe you're dense enough to not understand my point here. You tried the IRON-Gramlins thing. It miserably failed and made the situation worse. So if that doesn't work, how are you going to avoid not peacing out your entire upper-tier in every subsequent war from now on?
  10. Yes. You've been trying this strategy for two months have you not? How has that ended for you? If it ended well, this thread wouldn't exist.
  11. Firstly, let's not stoop to the whole "You're in <xxxx> alliance therefore you're automatically wrong." I can do a "LOL SPARTY" thing too, but it's pointless and detracts from a fairly interesting thread. Secondly, I find the bolded passage a very shallow look at the political and military factors of the war. If me getting beaten down means that 1/3rd of the alliances of CN wil never have an upper-tier in war mode in a military conflict ever again, I'm pretty satisfied with that trade.
  12. Soooo... how exactly do you propose being able to touch the DH/CnG upper tier in the next 3 years? Seriously. With what alliances? With what nations? You guys had a fair shot at contesting the upper tier when this conflict kicked off - you had the manpower, and you had a handful of high-tech nations that could go blow-to-blow with the best. Yet despite this, every single upper-tier nation in your entire coalition got melted, and sustained years (plural) of tech damage. Far from contesting the upper tier, the high-tier tech gap increased. Short of a treaty/bloc shakeup, 3 years might be generous. I've been popping into the OWF every couple of weeks, and this number continues to grow and grow. Originally, it was 4-5 "super-tier nations" that EQ had no plan to deal with. A few weeks ago, it was 30-50. Now according to you, we're pushing 100. I, for one, am rather content with this pattern.
  13. You sound jealous. It's OK - you too can join us by taking the $10 loyalty pledge.
  14. I don't think anyone is "appalled" by DoorNail aiding Kaskus. Aiding your allies in a time of war is honorable. The issue here is how unwilling DoorNail is to accept the consequences of his actions.
  15. So you acknowledge that you're at war with NSO throughout this entire conflict, then you commit an act in furtherance of said war... and now you don't believe you're at war? I'm confused.
  16. The idea that NSO would condone aid-packages sent by anyone to Kauskus is skeptical. I highly doubt NSO would have been cool with random 3million/2000soldier aid-drops to nations they've been trying to bill lock for over a month. ********************************************* But really, what's there to argue about here? DoorNail has acknowledged a state-of-war between TSL and NSO before this whole fiasco. He understands that he's at war with NSO, and he has committed an act of war against NSO. Just let 'em go at it. I like the fine folks at PPO, but there is a lesson to be learned about evaluating the competency of an alliance's leadership before committing to baby-sitting duties.
  17. "Our coalition will destroy... all of the tiers everything under 200k everything under 150k everything under 100k!" See where I'm going here?
  18. Sure 20-30 nations isn't a huge problem right now. The problem is that the number has been growing. The # of unchecked nations has gone from 6 nations to 30 in 3 weeks. Where will we be in another 3 weeks? The problem is that the longer this war goes on, the worse and worse the high-tier situation will get for EQ. I agree with you that this is a numbers game, but you're focusing on the wrong numbers. Tech is the name of the game in this war. The entire purpose of the EQ coalition was to close the tech gap between DH and the rest of the globe, so that alliances like NPO/AI/etc won't have to peace out their entire upper tier in future global wars in fear of Umbrella. This is what makes the upper-tier conflict so important; tech lost in high-tier combat takes years to rebuild, and EQ is hemorrhaging tech at these levels. If things continue as they are, EQ will be in an even worse upper-tier situation than before. I wouldn't count on reps. What do you think is more likely... that DH will cede their trump-card, or just continue to beat down the high-tiers?
  19. A few weeks ago, it was only 5-6 DH "super-nations" that were not being taken care of by EQ. Today, we're looking at 20-30+ of these nations, who are free to hit the EQ upper-tier with no consequence. This number is only going to grow the longer this war goes on. EQ is not grinding these nations down - they're not even declaring on them! There are two problems with dismissing this as a "small-slice" of the war: 1) This problem is growing at an alarming rate, and will continue to grow the longer the war goes on. 2) Upper-tier losses (tech) are incredibly difficult to rebuild. EQ is going to win the middle-tier (obviously), but that really doesn't mater. Middle-tiers are rebuildable. The entire purpose of this conflict was about equalizing the upper-tiers in order to hold Umbrella politically accountable in the future. But as things are, EQ simply isn't doing the job in the upper-tier, which was the whole goal of the conflict.
  20. Re: Bolded/Underlined... It's easy to say this stuff in theory, but a quick look at DBDC's alliance page shows that it has failed in practice: http://www.cybernations.net/allNations_display_alliances.asp?Alliance=Doombird%20Doomcave A lot of the super-tier nations of DH/Friends have been going in-and-out of peace mode at leisure. Forget "harassing," the EQ Coalition has been missing staggers left-and-right. I don't know whether this is a failure in communication or a general reluctance to fight on the part of upper-tier EQ nations, but it's pretty clear that things on the high-tier are quickly taking a turn for the worse for EQ.
