1. Since the trade change such treaties have definitely suffered in their relevence. Congratulations to Pacifica for having the freedom to flex a bit but still honoring the status quo. SR.
2. Good stuff guys. So much love between the classic alliances recently. SR. EDIT: I cant spell.
3. ODN, warmongering hive of intrigue and action. In all seriousness good luck to you guys, the Network is a great group of people. SR.
4. Yes, judging by their membership and the announcement made on formation Arizona has similar intentions and ideals behind its formation. SR.
5. Congratz once upon a time allies, you did a hell of a lot better than BotS SR.
6. I'll have a look for you! In practice I would say something GUILD esque, that is a collective of smaller alliances geared solely at fostering mutual defence and sovereignty against the pressures of larger alliance affairs and whims is entirely plausible, it was just take some decent, respected, and bold small alliances to start the process. And then its all down to how said bloc interacts with the wider world, and the wider world with it. SR.
7. I am not suggesting any kind of delusions of grandeur or scheming Jerdge, merely pointing out that you express yourselves through the same growth patterns, same statistics and same weapon stores as any other alliance, accumulation of strength is your alliance priority as much as any aligned alliance and as such you must always be factored into the general spheres of influence and power as having potential weight and say. In this sense neutrality can only be taken so far. Obviously I love GPA and its approach, I just have no illusions as to its limits. SR.
8.
I absolutely agree with you Kzopp, he worded it very well. For what regards the GPA, though, considering that the we don't care about "power" at all - and most of us only coincidentally remember that a world outside even exists, for that matter - his theory is also wrong.
The 'world outside' has certainly elected to interact with GPA in its history. You are of the same world and the same struggles despite your admirable efforts to be distinct, something you achieve possibly to as great an extent as you can. But last I checked GPA had a senator. GPA possesses vast resources and a nuclear stockpile. Historically GPA strength was regularly noted and reflected upon by those who considered it a force for good and those that didnt- projection of the aligned stances of others onto your power and their subsequent actions in line with said impressions will always tie you to the wider reality of the ongoing power struggles of CN. sorry SR.
9. Fantastic dispatches as always. The character of Pacifica remains deeply engaging to any outside player. SR.
10. Neutrals desire dominance as much as any other alliance does. They just aim to do so by outgrowing their squabbling neighbours. Until a bloc of neutrals got so big they could actually defeat aligned blocs in and of themselves they aren't going to do anything especially exciting, and if that ever got close enough to happening they would pretty much be considered aligned, albeit to a deceptively cuddly cause. Routes to power may differ, the battle at the very top will never change. SR.
11. I was out for a LONG time. congratulations, I suppose a divorced couple renewing vows at least know what to expect down the road! best of luck to both parties. SR.
12. Yeah GUILD as an idea was solid, I think we just moved to quickly with it and climbed higher than we could sustain really. We were neutral in GW3, I left SFS and fought for awhile alongside ODN cause I still had a lot of allies there but GUILD wasnt involved. I think a lot of the active, ambitious figures in GUILD went on to do some cool stuff and have a lot of fun, I certainly did! SR.
13.
sorry for the delay, only just now had the time to actually sit down in front of the computer lol. what were the reasons to form GUILD in the past? (also are the bloc forums, if they were any, still operational? also do you by chance have the links of alliances joining/withdrawing from the GUILD or were they never officially posted other than AIN being kicked out? also, why leave BotS after a week if it was your creation? edit: i swear IPA had to have been a member of over 5 blocs or something lol edit2: after hours of searching and updating, got all participants' flags and made a brief wiki page for those that did not have one. http://cybernations.wikia.com/wiki/Grand_Union_of_Intelligent_Little_Democracies
GUILD was formed for two reasons. First and foremost we had a nice little set of friendly alliances, most of which were linked through numerous treaties already, three of which had fought wars of some scale alongside each other. As is common demography for many small alliance, we each had 5-8 active members and a lot of largely deadweight. We were also maniacally egotistical. I certainly was! I dont remember where the forums were but they did exist, they shut down after the Bloc disbanded I think, and Im sure the announcements are on the OWF from the old site, I can look for them if you would like. As to why I left, Id be lying if I said anything other than that I got in over my head. I was still young both in game terms and RL terms and while I could manage a small alliance relatively competently the large mob of deadweights/raiders/standard large alliances complications proved extremely difficult and time wise I simply couldnt provide the leadership needed. I've always been a bit too much of a dreamer in this game GUILD is a unique snapshot from the very beginnings of the true 'Bloc era'. We had GUARD, WUT, and all the other various things stepping out for the first time and GUILD was a set of small and ambitious leaders, often with eyes bigger than their stomachs, some of which have gone on to great things in larger alliances, who figured a bloc would give them the unity and coordination to be safe from larger threats without a need for large alliance protection, which GUILD did successfully offer. As is the case in many circumstances increased working together led numerous of the participants towards a merger, and BotS was the end result. We had a great time, I met some great people and alliances and the skills gained there were absolutely essential in later roles in larger alliances, but I guess GUILD was an infantile bloc, and we grew up! SR.
14. Glad to see hostilities drawn to a close. You fought well Mongols and Kaskus. SR.
15. So good to see you making announcements Mpol. And a solid announcement too. SR.
16. To the INT boys: Have been back in the game for literally two weeks and have been playing very casually, I will be dropping over to the INT forums to say hey very soon. twas all very spur of the moment I apologise for not getting in touch yet! SR.
17. Hey Lurunin. I was actually Leader of Sent From Satan back in the day, it was my first tiny alliance that I made with friends of mine from home. I'll be honest the negotiational details are blurry to me now but I'm fairly sure I created GUILD as well out of the various small allies we had at the time? IPA and PPO certainly were treaty partners to SFS, and we fought alongside UBD in a tiny war called the Grammar War that was actually a contained micros war, albeit fairly one sided in our favour once we had entered. BotS was also my creation although I left the alliance a month or so into its formation. Ironically the leadership passed eventually to a friend of my younger brothers, he was aproximately 14 when he was part of the dealings that sparked the BotS/M/NpO conflict. Im striving to remember more now, what else would you like to know? Scandalous Rumour, Formerly TGEF (The Greatevilfish), Consul of SFS and architect of GUILD, both adorable micro projects .
18. Sad when a small alliance struggles to make it. Great when said alliance can recognize this and salvage the potential within it for a larger cause. Best of luck to your old membership and to FEAR. SR.
19. Nice to see some of the ancients back. best of luck. SR.
