What others have said I believe is the most important, wherever you fell comfortable with the members and it feels like "home". You should also take into consideration an alliances theme, as well as size, and etc as others have mentioned. It depends are you looking for a laid back group or a serious one? Big or small? There are many ways to define an alliance by size. Two of the most prominent are score and members, though I tend to use the latter. An old, established alliance like GATO or a new one like ION? Not too old, not too big, not too small, not to serious, there are many factors. Looking up their wiki page, chatting with some members on IRC, or in-game can be ways to help you decide too. That is a very nice picture. Good luck to both parties seeing as I don't have any personal grievances with anyone here(though I have always respected IRON from afar, so go IRON!)

I would recommend joining a preexisting alliance before starting your own to gather experience, and the necessary knowledge about the politics of the game and how the game mechanics work. Just friendly advice- if you would like a more in depth explanation I'll be happy to oblige. With that said, if you continue with this I wish you the best of luck.

I see your train of thought, and I applaud you for at least trying to reverse the tide, but it won't solve the underlying problems of CN. That said, I encourage you and anybody else to do this, every little bit helps(I don't want it seem as though I'm making the attempt of shooting this down, rather pointing some things out).

I'm not saying it would be entirely effective for various reasons, but I was just curious(it hasn't to my recollection... but then I could've missed it when I was away...).

Gopher is right, this game(in my honest opinion) is about politics and always has been as long as I've been around, not graphics. I see nothing wrong with the general idea, but I do however doubt it will have a great impact, no offense.
