1.
I don't quite understand what you're trying to say here. Laughing at people who think what?
Nice response, I think.
 2.
... That's pretty rude. Grumpp and Lennox came to STA and asked us to protect the new alliance. We've spent the last few days discussing it amongst ourselves and with Polar. We've put quite a lot of time into discussing it and finding a way to make it work, with the last discussion with CF concluding with them agreeing to show us a sample charter and that we would be discussing it. It's unspeakably rude to allow folks to waste a pretty large amount of time trying to get you protected while you've already got something worked out somewhere else. And that we had to learn about it on the OWF.
Can you believe that someone could be that rude.
 3.
UPN has more votes than us I'm embarrassed and believe Athens should now disband immediately.
I voted UPN. I'm starting to think I missed the point.
 4.
... (Oh God, that was my first veiled thread, did I do good?)
The thread-threat thing wasn't bad. Edit: I thought it was intentional.
 5. Congratulations on finally getting this announced.
 6. I wonder if any of the remaining alliances that have treaties with UPN are "assessing" those treaties right now.
 7.
... I quite clearly stated that GOONS has done more than a few things to warrant being rolled. I won't bother listing them here, because quite frankly it all comes to down a lack of human decency on their part. ...
This world will be a much more interesting place if we all use our opinions of what constitutes a lack of human decency as justification for rolling an alliance.
 8. I have no idea about the quality but the manner, quantity, and relation of Archon's post are good in the context of the OWF. He doesn't grasp or waffle, his writing isn't pompous, and what he presents is well-organized. It'd be boring if all OWF posts were exactly like that but there's a lot to be admired in his style.
 9.
... I'm sorry if I struck a nerve with you. You should have that checked.
You're starting to sound shrill again.
 10. TENE is impressive. Congratulations on the new charter.
 11. Congratulations to Lenny on finally getting a break, and nice speech. All the best for your new government.
 12.
CONgrats!! "I surrendered to CON and was a POW for a total of three hours before, after failing to recruit me, they released me to "start my little alliance." I was the one trying to recruit you.
Did you mean to make that post in this topic?
 13.
... We can only understand the morality that applies to us and humanity in our similarity.
That was the point I was making; i.e. although we can conceive there could be something beyond our ken, trying to rationalize it is archetypal mental masturbation and we'll likely do much better making decisions on evidence-based concepts. Edit: Credit to Horatio Longworth for a very funny post ^
 14.
... Basically I think there is an objective morality with some basis (one I don't fully understand) but one that applies to all humans nonetheless. ...
I can't think of a reason why humans adhering to a single morality (whether objective or not) would be beneficial to the individual or the species. Our ability to shift the importance of competitive versus collaborative/cooperative behavior, however, is clearly very beneficial, but it's completely incompatible with a universal morality.
 15.
It is the norm on Planet Bob to consider only defensive wars legitimate.
Where on Earth did you get that silly idea from?
 16. I think the range of IC personas is a little more complex and varied than pirate or choirboy, Bob. Think about some of the other ways you could approach it.
 17.
There are always exceptions to the rule.
Maybe you're one?
 18. Heads or Tails has always worked for me.
 19. If you don't personally like raiding or a good friend of yours tells you it's wrong, I recommend you consider it wrong. If you personally like raiding or a good friend of yours tells you it's right, I recommend you consider it right. If you don't fall into either of these categories, I don't recommend you take a moral standpoint.
 20.
I haven't been given a single order or had my speech along with any other right restricted since I joined the Order so I will conclude that you have no idea what the hell you are talking about.
You've learned your lesson well.
 21.
Funnily enough, I have always felt like people telling us what we can and cannot do with regard to our own members is oppressive. I don't really remember a time when it was considered cool or anything to try to force one's will on the way other alliances handle situations internally.
As long as there are people willing to listen to moralizers and charlatans, there will be moralizers and charlatans. I doubt there are many (if any) of those listeners reading this topic but when you rely on a low content message, you're using a shotgun approach so you don't really care if it gives a low yield. Anyway, all we've learned from this topic is that alliances have different views on spying on their own members, and that most approach it on a case-by-case basis. I hope the thread didn't receive a research grant.
