  1. If we really want to be semantic, there is a difference between "an attack on one..." and "a war against one..." the latter being a choice that can be made internally, not just externally. Doom can (and did) make the choice to put others in a state of war against Doom.
  2. Honestly? People here are playing semantics as to why they're throwing supposed "friends" under the bus. I'm just making sure that if people wanna be clowns like that, that we look at the complete picture, not just which small aspects they want to cherry-pick as convenient to their case. If you want to talk about things not being a good look. It probably wasn't going to be an "angry war" until that point. But it's a sad and pathetic showing. This is a game that is barely clinging on to life, this is certainly going to be the last major war we ever see. It would have changed next to nothing for some of these cancellations to simply, you know, not have happened. There was no need to burn bridges like that, create enemies out of friends, all for what? No spreadsheet numbers were at risk. There was no point in generating so much bad will. It makes no sense. But it happened, and now they're trying to justify their stupidity. Our coalition mindset? The world is dead, friends are more important than spreadsheet numbers. Some alliances like Legion and Sparta figured that out. Some are worried about their spreadsheet numbers and have gone into hiding once again. And some have decided to throw "friends" under the bus for no reason.
  3. How long ago that war was declared means little. It was declared, it was never concluded, and most importantly, the intervening years have been filled with raids by DBDC upon various alliances, under the guide of this DoW. A DoW made, clearly, with the assumption that Mommy Pacifica would step in if anyone responded - as we see now. What is tiring is the effort to pretend this is anything other than what it is, pretending that some minor legal technicality (which doesn't even exist, mind you) is justification for throwing longstanding relationships under the bus. That just isn't how that plays out, unless there are other unspoken reasons for dropping such treaties at the first whiff of a possible excuse.
  4. This might have a slim chance at making sense if you didn't just gloss over the fact that DBDCDSDW declared an open ended war on the world and proceeded to raid various alliances on their whim. If you want to make legalistic arguments here, you have no ground on which to stand - your ODP partners declared war on your MDoAP partner and you decided to drop the MDoAP partner for responding. But, we all know this is just e-lawyering and isn't really what's going on. What's really going on is Pacifica doing the things Pacifica has always done, throwing loyal allies under the bus time and time again when they decide they've outlived their usefulness to Pacifica. Why anyone, here at the end of the world, still wants to stand beside you, or cower on the sidelines, is beyond me. Some people, I guess, are just so addicted to their spreadsheet numbers that friendships mean nothing to them.
  5. it is, after all, Herogasm, so might as well
  6. Some folks get it, some folks don't. Some folks understand how to fight for their friends, and some folks burn their friendships to save their spreadsheet stats in a game that is all but dead. Legion gets it. Enjoy those delicious casualties!
  7. Attaching yourself to the most powerful group in the game so you can leech off their position doesn't make you a "kingmaker" This is some of the funniest sh*t I read all week.
  8. I am willing to credit Doom with some autonomy, but I am not willing to do so with Polaris, that is an overly generous assessment. Even when I was there, pushing for an independent thought, the feedback was largely along the lines of "We'd like that but we can't upset NPO." Polar FA policy revolves around hiding behind Mommy Pacifica like a frightened child. Even if they want to dip their toes in the water, at the first sign of anything, they are startled and run directly back to Mommy for safety. Grub deserves better.
  9. Ah, yes, the project that other people wanted to do as well and were told no, NPO had special permission to do something nobody else was allowed to. Some of us do care, in the sense that we had fond memories of this game before it became a dead husk thanks to certain privileged parties being allowed to cheat. It's openly debatable if NPO can even be considered to have "won" the game, that implies a certain degree of integrity and adherence to the rules of a level playing field.
  10. I'm going to simplify this for you since you're struggling 1) Nation gains a whole bunch of cheated multi tech (lets say, 70k, i don't know what the real number is but let's use this as an example) 2) Nation with 70k illegal tech conducts a bunch of raids and gains from those raids, say, 100k land and another 80k tech, that would not have been possible without the initial 70k illegal tech 3) Nation gets their 70k illegal tech deleted (instead of being deleted from the game as they should have been) but gets to keep the 100k land and 80k tech that the illegal tech let them get. This, you think, is a fair and equitable outcome? Cheaters should be banned, plenty of people have been banned for far, far less over the years. It's a goddamn joke that they haven't been, but alas, we all understand very well why it's the case. It's just a shame, some of us remember when this was a vibrant game.
  11. This is a great preview into CLAWS competency. Out of 122 CLAWS nations, about 15 of them showed up for the update quad. An old school strategy that relies on sudden and overwhelming force. Instead they barely mustered to let out a dry fart.
  12. Oh yeah, he was just randomly messaging random new players and it just happened to turn out that they were multis, over and over again, willing to deal with him instead of whatever other purpose they might have had to make multis for. Total coincidence.
  13. How can this be a "defense" when DBDWDCDS was the one to declare war first? Hm. Do you just not know what words mean?
  14. But are they going to let others come in and leech those precious casualties that would otherwise go to Doom's total?
  15. Nah, they didn't have to ditch allies. They're just dutifully following instructions from their superiors.
  16. I must be fully retarded because I thought Buuyo and EJ were better than this. Still NPO's b*tches at the end of the day. I apologize for ever believing otherwise.
  17. One of the most pathetic things I have seen in a long time.
  18. There's something to be said for being upfront and open about it, though, instead of letting them know with a surprise knife in the back when the moment comes. Not to these alliances specifically, but, you know, broadly speaking. It makes for a better treaty, not a worse one, to be upfront and honest about the realities of the Charlie Foxtrot that is the treaty web.
  19. Seems to me this is usually a sign that it's not going to be for long.
  20. tbf you have to be trash to still be playing this game, if we're being honest.
