The sky reflected the red of the fires running rampant through much of the metropolis and the black smoke climbed lazily through the clouds. Cars were burning, most businesses had been looted, and the provincial capitol building was currently being ransacked. The sea of over 40,000 people, most clad in red, stood in front of the capitol. After a few minutes of gunshots and yelling, 30 Osean national guardsmen dragged four bodies with bags placed over their heads out of the door. They propped the bodies onto a temporary platform and placed a noose around each neck, before taking off the bags concealing their faces. On the other side of the platform, a lady surrounded by a contingent of armed guards walked up to a podium and began speaking, “ People of Osea, I am Pelosi Nancydottir, the women you have elected to represent you in the Senatus. I have struggled for our rights, I have bled for our rights, and yet we still do not have them. The Senatus banned communism, the lifestyle that many of us are familiar and comfortable with. This republic claims to be great yet its system of checks and balances have failed. Yesterday, the High Court ruled the Act unconstitutional, yet nothing is done. We are still being arrested. We are still being persecuted. I will not stand by and watch my people mistreated like slaves. Effectively immediately, I resign from the Senatus along with my fellow Osean representatives and declare the formation of the new Osean Union, a sovereign state. As Premier, I will give us our independence and freedom. The FRG has a terminal disease: democracy. It is our job – no, duty- to rid the world of this plague. The Osean Union calls for the peaceful assimilation of the FRG. As I speak, 10,000 Osean Guardsmen have been deployed to secure Thule, a province with many who are loyal to us. In addition, the four people who stand beside me represent that which we must rid ourselves of. These are our oppressors and will be dealt with accordingly. This is a great day comrades, and this day will be remembered as the liberation of a free communist society in the face of evil.” Suddenly, a new flag was raised over the elegant capitol, which now oversaw a city overrun with violence and despair. With the raising of the flag and a gun salute by the guards, the floor supporting each victim was opened, and they fell. The necks of the Governor’s daughter and son snapped quickly, however the executor had not been so nice to the Governor or his wife. His last thought besides the excruciating pain he was suffering before going unconscious was disbelief at the masses before him, waving flags, chanting and clapping at his own death. Now is the time to proceed. The night in Nordur Ciudadela was quiet. There was little cloud coverage and only a slight breeze, making the distinctive whirring noise over the arctic tundra. Townships were scattered and made the only light in this barren environment, but all were oblivious. It was a new moon, and no one saw the thousands of parachutes glide slowly to Earth. If they had, they might have noticed the glint of guns or tanks, both of which were coming down to the ground by the dozens. These 10,000 troops were the elite, dressed in solid black and prepared to bathe themselves in blood if necessary. There was no mercy as they approached the provincial capital city of Articulund. Articulund only had a population of 40,000, the smallest of any FRG capital. Practicality took precedence over beauty, and the majority of the buildings were shaped like huge A’s to cope with the ridiculous amount of snow the city received. In fact, there had been a large snowfall the night before. This allowed the men to approach the city with even less noise. After only a few hours of being dropped off, the men and women entered the city. They immediately went into all the government buildings and took most of the nonessential workers hostage, including the Governor. They shut off the government communications buildings and quickly broke into the media buildings. They ensured the cameras would be ready for when they were needed. Thousands of miles away, Benjamin Linus made a live broadcast, “Good morning global community, I have received confirmation that Quadumvirate forces have successfully overrun and captured the FRG province of Nordur Ciudadela. The Quadumvirate is composed of Arkhangelsk, Atyrau, Monaco, and La Palma. We are all overseas extensions of the FRG. Yet the FRG is thousands of miles from us and unable to rule effectively. We have joined together in hopes of gaining our independence. We are not murderers and will not perform barbaric acts. However, we will continue to fight until our independence has been achieved. Their original 10,000 troops have swelled in size. These two provinces, being the least populated, have always felt disconnected from the rest of the FRG and as a result they are actually supportive of the Quadumvirate. The national guard, totaling approximately 50,000 have joined up with Quad forces including new arrivals to bring their manpower to about 100,000. In addition, there are reports that they have howitzers and tanks and are currently attempting to overrun the most populous northern city, Danmarkshavn. The fighting here is not as intense as on the Communist front. The Quadumvirate forces are courteous to civilians and try to inflict as little damage to cities as possible. They also provide humane conditions for all prisoners they have taken. On the other front, the Communists have rapidly gained ground. They have secured Osea and most of Thule and Kujalleq. Their forces number approximately 200,000 as one federal military division betrayed the FRG and joined the communists. They are closing in on Frederiksdal, the fourth largest city in the FRG. This is where the fighting is most intense. The Communists do not take prisoners and shoot anyone who attempts to do so. **Message from Pelosi Nancydottir to all Communist nations** We are currently attempting to remove these capitalist pigs from the face of the Earth. We are making good progress, however we require supplies, weapons, and ammunition to continue this proletariat revolution. Do not falter comrades, this is a chance to spread the red! **Message from the Quadumvirate** We have almost secured another FRG province. Our peace offer still stands: grant our nations self rule and we shall immediately leave. While we believe you have mistreated us we feel it was through negligence and not hatred. We call upon all nations that believe owning colonies is wrong to support us in our endeavor. In addition, we require supplies and weapons, preferably warm clothing. **Message from FRG Federal Government** The FRG has been a beacon of democracy for decades and this shall not falter. We do not negotiate with rebels, which these two forces obviously are. Last night, the Senatus approed giving emergency powers to the President. President Ty has immediately called a state of emergency, currently suspending habeas corpus and freedom of the press. We call upon our allies to provide assistance, these Communists are bloodthirsty monsters who inhumanely kill children and burn cities to the ground. **Message from Pelosi Nancydottir to Chairwoman Temulin** Our views are simple: equality for all, especially the working man. For too long the poor have been oppressed in this filthy capitalistic nation and we intend to change that. No more bourgeois as slave masters, we will work collectively for the betterment of Osea! I'll organize an invasion of Atyrau immediately." The Expedition Force to Greenland was set off. At the same time, 150,000 soldiers and 1,500 tanks mobilized towards Grøenlandia's Eurasian holdings. Five squadrons of F-22s and five of Tupolev Tu-160s flew towards the Quadumvirate's military positions. Cruise missiles were readied for use. It was also the site where the bloodiest battle on Greenland was about to be fought. On the west side were the approaching Communists. They numbered about 100,000 with 100 T-94 tanks. The federal troops to the east numbered 200,000 with 3000 MBTs and 1000 PzH 2000 Artillery. The majority of the Federal troops were camped in front of the city. The civilians had all been forced to temporarily relocate and most were glad to do so, knowing the communists' no-prisoner policy and their tendency to execute any non-communist they saw on sight. This virtual ghost town had an eerie darkness to it, and it would be hard to notice the numerous snipers and artillery hidden throughout the city. They were waiting for the enemy, hopeful that the Caucasian allies would arrive in time. As the communists approached, about 10miles from the city the sound of artillery began. The crews worked methodically, shelling the communist position to lighten the number of troops they were soon to face. In addition, the 15 F1 Wolverine and 6 B1 Peacekeepers took advantage of the air superiority, launching bombs and lighting up tanks. The communist troops scattered and took cover where the could among the snow drifts. One fighter jet was even shot down as the communists attempted to fight back with RPGs. In addition, the missile cruisers FGV Ísbjörn and FGV Hreindýr in the Frederikdsal port launched dozens of missiles, targeting clumps of infantry and the tanks. A blizzard was brewing, but it did not deter the missiles or artillery shells which were guided using radar and infrared heat sensors designed for the snowy environment. They only had about 25,000 national guardsmen and 300 old T-94 tanks, but they were well trained and knew the terrain well. Wanting to spare the port and city of Atyrau of any damage, they took up a defensive ring on the border of their territory. Trenches had been dug and cement poured, with many bunkers scattered through the fresh trenchworks. Anti-tank barriers had been put in place to slow the enemy tanks movement. They had even managed to steal 10 of the F1 Wolverine FRG aircraft and they were currently taking off, preparing to engage the Caucasian aircraft. **Classified to James** The communists are 10 miles from Frederiskdal. Will you be here in time? Also, do your men have arctic camouflage? The desert camo will be useless here? We have spare clothing we can distribute if necessary. Also, try to minimize the damage done to the actual city of Atyrau. We'd like to keep the port intact, if possible. Finally, I have just received news that we have taken the Revillagigedo Islands. "The Quad troops have deployed along the border. Anti-tank barriers, trenches, bunkers. They've left Atyrau, for the most part." Aleksandrov looked at the map and smiled broadly. "An opening!" He picked up a secure line within Caucasian Military Command. "Major General Ivanov, I want you to get 20,000 troops, not from our current force, and board transports in the Caspian Sea. Land at Atyrau; wipe out any Quad resistance, and limit damage to civilian infrastructure." "Yes, sir." Aleksandrov hung up and dismissed the scout, then called in his officers. "I want the artillery firing at their defenses. Aim for bunkers and trenches. Ask the Air Force to engage whatever aircraft they have with their fighters, while the bombers unleash their payload on the battle lines. Soften them up with artillery, then make sure the troops are ready to strike at an opening." Artillery was engaged. Troops remained out of range of any Quad weaponry. The F-22s prepared to fight the attacking planes; they would overcome a technological disadvantage with their superior numbers. **Classifed Reply** "Yes, we have Arctic camouflage. We produced it in case war ever broke out with Troina. We will be there in time. We'll take one of those islands, as long as it does not mean a war with the Americas." When the Osean temporary government heard of this transmission, it was immediately censored, changed, and distributed to the Osean masses as the following: "The PRC supports the move of this "Osea". You are Oseans, you kill the capitalsists efficiently and mercilessly. You all are a true Osean and a true Communist. You have our support Osea, since the PRC government today was once your leaders, we ask you to continue this war and your ruthless revolution to independence. We shall send you support because you are communist." Osean morale improved dramatically after hearing this message played constantly and Pelosi Nancydottir went on the air to personally thank the PRC.
