Eventually something like this was going to happen as people sought a way to make their departure more memorable. Just nuking isn't enough to make a bang anymore. I have been thinking of that, but that doesn't bring fun. Going done while fighting someone who also wants to go down is no fun at all. And the last 2 days you didnt nuke me but your WRC-less brother in arms (which I really didnt mind since that WRC really really really hurts). To make it a monument to you being able to log in a few times a week and be in an alliance that's managed to duck out of any major wars without taking one straight to the mug? You can build up a proper nation in order to destroy the proper nations of people who might actually cry IRL about their pixels changing on your way out.
