I've been able to harvest data using my tenuous cellular data link. It's about as painful as you expect; but until I can get my home computers back up, I can't load them in the database and produce the stats we all know and love. At the mercy of Comcast... terrible. The worst thing is Verizon's FIOS is a mile away.

Actually I just moved to this hellish place without landline internet. In retrospect, I perhaps should have made some contingency plans for Comcast taking their dear sweet time installing my new service, but I've never heard of them taking more than a week to get this done. I guess Murphy's Law combines with the Worst Company In America to kick UE while he's offline.

I tried to explain my system on two non-consecutive occasions to people who aren't me. The first gave up after an evening, the second put in several days work before needing a month or two to recoup in a sanitarium before trying again. He got it half working before deciding it would be easier to invent his own language, teach it to some particularly adept turtles and then strap the turtles to rockets which would be fired at my location, all the while slandering me in this new tongue. Also the rockets were fueled by some kind of hatred.

There's panic in the streets of Soviestan as the last stats are grabbed off the supermarket shelves to be hoarded in basements and family bunkers. The Politburo must, of course, maintain its own store of stats separate from the people, so that it may function correctly. After all, the success of the Politburo is the success of the people in the long-term, even if it means death in the short-term.
