  1. o/ Super Friends Morey 2k7: Yes, I have a sexual nature. Is there a point?
  2. Back at the Hall of Justice: And now a short video to explain how all this came about:
  3. At least you leave the game with a clean conscious. Any player's story that includes "so I started my 4th multi" is probably going to end very, very very, badly. Hope you had fun playing, though if you are resourceful enough to get IP addresses that easily, we'll probably see you back.
  4. First thought is Liberal_Extinction. However, if I can only bring one person back the choice is obvious: s1phrx. We still miss you my friend. R.I.P.
  5. A bit of cultural ignorance, no offense meant I'm sure. Hopefully someone on the Admin staff finds this topic and corrects the issue.
  6. I don't so much mind the frequency of events...as for nations being influenced by events, clearly in RL they are and I feel very strongly that it should be reflected in the game. However, there is the question of balance. Too negative and events are seen as something that harasses players. Too positive and people will still complain because someone else's are "more positive" than their own (or will complain bitterly over receiving 1 negative after getting 5-6 straight positives. I don't sense balance, not in the long or short term, at least not at this stage.
  7. Fair point, chance includes the possibility that any one individual could flip a coin tails 3-4 times a row, or miss a roll of 6 or better on a 10 sided dice at least that many times. When you meet several people who have done it, you begin to suspect that things are not a coin flip or a 6 in 10 chance. You then ask about what the true odds are, in hopes of getting official reaction or at least more observations to either prove or disprove your hypothesis. Thus I am here....
  8. My question is not about the frequency of events, but the ratio of good to bad. A quick survey "around the water cooler" on IRC revealed that people have more negative events than positive ones--indeed something like 2-3 negatives to every positive. This seems a bit off, considering that back when they were re-introduced back in June, the ratio was actually suppose to favor positive events slightly. I'd say it's just me bad...as I say, I've run into a number of other people with the same experience. Could someone explain the current logic of how events are generated? Random table? Or is there an established ratio?
  9. Too bad Events seem to be running 60% bad, 40% good...both in TE and Planet Bob and in RL at the moment.
  10. Does it matter? It's all dust in the wind my friends...all we are is dust in the wind.
  11. A very, very nicely worded letter done with proper grammar, etc. pleading for mercy has been known to work and is worth a try, but...since it is rather difficult to prove that you are not your "friend" trying to get around a ban, I'm not sure how much success you are going to have. Bottom line is that you should never allow friends to log in on your home computer to check their nations.
  12. I'm waiting for the first person to actually do a $20 donation in the name of their TE nation.
  13. Saw the other report of the CN clock being incorrect here in the forums (behind in that case) but thought I'd let you know it's now about 19 minutes fast...or I'm in some sort of time distortion field that means I'm seeing things 19 minutes before they happen. I'm hoping for the latter, that way I can go make a killing in the Stock Market later this afternoon and evening....
  14. Given some of the drama I've witnessed out of sanctioned alliances the last year or so (both public and private), maybe instead of +5 it should be -1?
  15. I've gotten the 'Affluent Population' event... My only objection to the scenario was that there was no option to try to rescue the hostages instead of blowing them up... FYI: I predict that an updated list of possible Events will posted on the CN Wiki before the end of the month.
  16. Ragnarok's score is correct and was explained by Hoo previously (we had some people spinoff into their own alliance). Don't worry, we'll recover nicely tomorrow.
  17. Oh hey Fark...excuse us while we pass through.
  18. I'm simply not convinced that dumping improvements and throwing up Border Walls is the miracle solution to people's income issues in a vast majority of situations. Patience, and some investment in infrastructure to replace lost population, should solve whatever income shortfalls most people are having. I am in this category. Does it mean you might have to forego getting some Wonder/improvement or other a week or so? or cancel a tech deal or two? Perhaps...but some of you honestly are acting like this is the end of the world and it isn't. I would submit that if you were thrown off to the point that you are now near bill lock, you probably had your nation too optimized to take advantage of game mechanics and the danger of doing so is that the game mechanics might change (as in this case) significantly and you're screwed--remember people this is a piece of beta software. Granted a pretty long term one and therefore stable and pretty bug free, but a beta none the less. If you gambled and lost...I'm sorry, but that's how it goes.
  19. The ones with the Red stars are more "Eco-Friendly" the blank or White stars are not Eco-Friendly.
  20. I came here in the Great Fark migration back in February of last year and never joined the Fark alliance. I'm not the only one.
  21. About the time those plans that are "on the way within Haleenstar Republic to open new rehabilitation centers across the nation and educate its citizens of the dangers of drug use" will be finished right? Sorry, pet peeve. I chose that option when I first signed up for the game in Feb. 2007 and the rehab centers never opened. This in fact is advertised as a beta, something that I think some people forget. Update: net loss in daily income comes out to something close to $250,000 a day. I'll build up infra to replace the lost revenue (won't be cheap, but oh well) and with it the lost population rather than changing out improvements and building border walls. My concern is that further tinkering will make border walls much less rewarding down the line.
  22. Watching too much Al Gore, eh? It's your beta to change, not mine. But when I have an environment described by your game as "quite clean" and rates 4 out of 5 stars on your scale and I lose almost 2,000 population overnight, don't expect me to be a happy camper.
  23. I agree. Depending on how many improvements you already have, you will almost certainly be better off for it than buying any single Wonder.
  24. Have a format in mind? Also, for those of you wanting sound clips from other games, there is this little thing called "copyright" that would prevent it. However there is nothing preventing you from recreating it to certain point.
  25. Let me help you narrow your selections further. Ragnarok is not interested. No Mech, we really aren't interested, trust me.
