  1. I think I will write up my first post in this thread, for what reasons? I do not know. Other than the fact that I feel if we get as many viewpoints on a single topic as possible, someone who wasn't involved, could probably figure out the real sequence of history. Other than that, I'll pretty much leave this thread to the great debaters, philosophers, masterminds, tacticians, etc. I don't remember much about the time between me starting to go inactive in Browncoats, and leaving for HPS, and know basically nothing about BC after I left except for the Bubblegum War, and basically slowly dying. With that, let my view be taken with a grain of salt because of it's flaws, and hopefully someone will put all this together and figure out what we who were there did not. A few months before I left BC, I was in the Brown Council. I pretty much did nothing, except advise people, and, often taking a viewpoint that many others did not like, because in my mind, it's better to be hated, and know that the strategy you use isn't the only thing you thought of, but was the best out of many different strategies that were thought up. Basically, making every decision a debate, with good and bad being weighed a lot. This was good, but it also caused, I feel, some fights. The in-fighting had gone on for a long time, and I was ready to leave Browncoats anyway, or go totally inactive from representing my alliance in any fashion (ooc: going inactive on CN). Veneke approached me, and I believe Mechanus did too, about starting their own alliance. Having been ready to leave, and hearing the points that were brought up: "It's not going anywhere" "the people who are going to get elected will make a mess out of BC" basically stuff like that. I don't remember the exact quotes, but basically it was saying "Let's bail out before we get our @#$% kicked, and also have fun building our own new alliance." As I said earlier (twice now) I was ready to leave anyway, so I gladly joined aboard this new vessel called HPS with quite a few people who were, at the time, really good friends of mine. For whatever reason, I have no idea why, though they tried to explain it as best they could, they gave me a "hegemon" spot in government (trium spot). Well, Same thing happened here as in BC, and I basically was on the forums, but wasn't doing too much after a while. (and now enough about HPS history because that has a lot of laundry I'd rather not air out here) I hear about the BC bubblegum crisis and I am, of course, pretty pissed. I helped make that alliance, ran in government for a good long time in different positions, and stopped people, many a times, from killing us on the spot, and here they go, blowing it all up. Well, I didn't care too much passed that, because I wasn't with them anymore, and, well, most of my friends had come and joined me, so we were all... not dying. Now fast forward to basically 3 months ago. I look back on the whole BC to HPS thing, and, while I've always felt this somewhat, I start to realize more and more, that we were basically the hammer that drove in at least a good number of the nails. We, in my opinion, bailed on Browncoats, after being there for a year. We may not have driven in the last nail, or even put the nails there, but we did a good job on helping the ol' boat die. Anyone who denies this, is a fool. Yes, I am saying that I too, am guilty of helping with this. I am not saying that I am better than anyone else, I am simply saying that I am partially at fault. To those who are bitter about the past, remember, I was a founder of BC, and put my heart and soul into that alliance for more than a year, and afterwards the Bubblegum crisis pretty much helped end it all (though we honestly weren't in the best place to begin with). I have forgiven schatt, and we are actually quite good friends nowadays. If I can forgive him, rather easily I might add, what is preventing all of you, who speak of honor, from forgiving each other? I am no honorable man. I have had my fair share of misdeeds, but I know I do, and forgive others who make mistakes too, because we are all prone to them. I'll leave you with that final thought. ~Asriel Belacqua
  2. I have been here a long time, and I have always been proud to say that Browncoats has always held my heart.
  3. I hope to bring back some of the original spirit that all Browncoats should have. and just so you know, I liked those stories... and I am quite frequently called a girl. I think I may have to just give into peer pressure and act like the guy-who-pretends-to-be-girl someday!
  4. You may not remember me, but I do remember you. You were a good member for the short time you were around. Glad to see you're still on Planet Bob.
  5. Aye. We do. If you need anything too, give me a holler. Probably will, thanks for the support JW.
  6. Quite the opposite, in fact, I had fully prepared for most of Bob to hate me. Ask almost anyone I talked to. I was utterly surprised whenever someone said they were happy. Veneke, I know you have your problems with me and doing this, and I'll respect that, as you were once a friend to me. You can call me what you wish, in the hearts and minds of many others who have spoken to me, you are, in fact, wrong. Again, best of luck to the 57th.
  7. I was an original founder and was in government for several terms. There is the answer to the "If you held a position of power" question. As for the rest of it? I could think of other themes for a "new" alliance. This wasn't supposed to be a new alliance. This was supposed to be an "improved version of something old." I could think of all sorts of new themes for alliances though, if someone wishes to create a new one. Anyway, thanks for the constructive criticism Tron Paul, best of luck to you and yours.
  8. That is just epic. While I do respect your position on the matter, Lord Panda, I must say I disagree. The way I see it is that Browncoats spirit never died. Most of what makes an alliance is the community, the spirit. When I approached the few people I did, most were (with the exception of Mechanus, and Veneke) quite delighted to hear that I was going to do this, and the ones that are currently flying the flag of the Browncoats, were also quite enthused, as they did not feel that the spirit died either. [OOC]Like Mal, and Zoe, even though the I.F. died, the spirit lived on, and they called themselves browncoats. If they saw their chance to fight the good fight once more, they would take it. So too, did I.[/ooc] Though we already discussed this via IRC. I hope peace will be accepted soon also. I will tell SUNB about this and get it straightened out with everyone. Thanks for voicing that. I wanted it to be a surprise. I understand that it is hard for many to see why I reformed this alliance, especially you and Veneke. I appreciate, however, the lack of negative criticism on your part mech. Browncoats may never be the same as it was, and that's not what I expect. I expect it to be an alliance who still values independence though, and the Browncoat way. Nintenderek has always been a friend, and, while I know of his involvement in the Bubblegum Crisis (or really, since he didn't do anything other than expose the plot to the world, LACK of involvement), I am a man of second chances, just as all Browncoats will be men and women of second chances. The Bubblegum Crisis happened long ago, and I feel that everyone involved has learned from that, and has grown from that. Nintenderek though, Bubblegum Crisis aside, has been a good friend to me throughout the years, and has been extremely helpful. I would feel horrible if I did not give him, of all people, at least one second chance. I fully expected the 57th to show their support or disgust for this alliance, as it was their home, for many, at one point, just as it was mine and I would show my feelings in such a thread if I was in their position. I wish you and my brothers in the 57th the best of luck in the future, and hopefully those who have grown to dislike this, will come to like us as a group, just as I like the 57th as a whole. Again, I wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors. As for you, Mechanus, I know you do not agree, but I thank you for your kind friendship, and again, wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors.
  9. To those wishing me luck, or congratulating me, etc, the thought is appreciated, but let me clarify something: I could not have done this without the support of my friends, and my allies who have joined me. This is as much their great work as it is anyone's, and I am proud to stand by them.
  10. As Nintenderek said, it is on the way. I'll edit my post if it pleases the crowd, but only this once! It is a tradition that I live by.
  11. Official Browncoats Dispatch Asriel, old, bearded, and grey, walks up to the podium slowly, in his brown duster, cane in hand. The old podium still has the old Independent's symbol of the stripes and five-pointed star on the center, though it is old and faded. Asriel clears his throat, takes a drink out of his silver flask, and begins talking. Two years ago, on this very day, an alliance came to be. While never large, this alliance was grand, and in it's own way special. On that day, two years ago, Princeps, StargateDucky, CookieMonster, Shreck, and myself decided that we would no longer live under a banner that was dead or dying, and decided to unite with some new immigrants coming from colonies on the moon. Asriel takes a slow breath and wipes his brow before continuing. With the help of these immigrants, the small group from The Intelligentsia became the Browncoats, and thrived for many months. It was originally founded on beliefs of freedom, openness, and friendliness towards your fellow Browncoat. I hate to say it though, but many of us, left. We were all young and crazy back then, and wanted something better. So we left to form HPS. After a while a few people left to form FUCN, and I was saddened. Not knowing all the details, I did not see the reason behind the departure and was saddened. After we few left the many to form HPS and later FUCN, Browncoats fell. There were decisions made that probably shouldn't have been, but alas, the past is the past, and Browncoats disbanded later on. Asriel takes another swig from his flask before continuing. That leaves us at the present. What now? Let me tell you. A few of us have come back to the edge of this 'verse, and have seen, with much sadness, there isn't much left here. This was our home once, for a long time too. This filled us with much regret, and continued filling us with regret and sorrow until we realized that we had but one choice: Reform the Browncoats. The grand alliance that was everything and more to me and it's other founders, needed to come back, and return to Planet Bob. Not in the form of just one division, but in the form of all divisions, civilian and military, front-line and behind the scenes. So today, on this, the first of September, two years after I helped create the original Browncoats, I, Asriel Belacqua, am standing here today to tell you that we are back. Asriel waits for the applause and other commotion to calm down before continuing. In light of this, I invite you all, friends, and Bobians, to all come and be friends, if only for one night, in #CN-Browncoats on IRC or at: http://z3.invisionfree.com/The_Browncoats. Feel free to open an embassy, we love visitors. We will be providing the rum, wine, beer, and women. All other entertainment that you wish to come, may come, but it is up to you to provide it. 12. Even then, lying is not "odd or unusual." It happens all the time, and while it is not something you *should* do in societies eyes, it isn't odd. If you never hear of it happening, you are simply not aware enough of your surroundings.
  13. Because there was another with a similar name. I call it "He-who-shall-not-be-named."
  14. I will try to not be disrespectful, and I hope to not offend anyone with this post, but, Francesca, from what I know, hardly anyone who was in the alliance with you didn't even know about it. You say it took a lot of thought (HS said a few weeks of thought). Why was this thought not at all discussed with the membership (I had to tell a few confused people about this topic. Out of a smaller alliance, a few, is many)? That is all I have to ask, and I will now give advice, member input is the most prized possession an alliance can have. Without the members, you lead yourself. I hate to say it, but that's how it is. Sometimes being a leader means not only leading, but sometimes following, and also realizing when it is best to not just quit, but let someone else take the reins. Best of luck to former CG members. Best of luck to Francesca and HS in the N.P.O., and best of luck to whoever decides to go anywhere else.
  15. I've seen them end several times, it never gets better. :| lol On a happier note, good job on keeping this here boat a flying M and Ajna.
  16. Colorful is right man, I tell you what. o/ FUCN, at first we had rough times, but I've grown to like you guys. Keep it up.
  17. My IC persona is totally different from my RL persona, except for a few things here and there. IC I drink rum, bring women and cookies everywhere, and am an old man with a sizable beard, who speaks his mind, but only on occasion, unless he is joking with friends, at which point he becomes "young" and jokes a lot. OOC: I am 17, pretty "noisy" don't drink any alcohol at all, am most definitely NOT a pimp of any kind, though I do have lady friends. and am serious much more of the time. Basically, I made myself a new me for CN purposes, and have stuck with it for 3 years.
  18. Most of the analysis I did was based on ideal terms for growth within a nation (Thus why trades was a large factor, and things like that). In that way, sphere stability IS a good thing, as low stability tends to result in many wars, which ends up in destroyed/disbanded alliances, which then moves nations around (a lot of alliances practically require you to be in one sphere or another), which then results with less people in the sphere. Look at green, it was stable at one point, and was, at the time, the largest sphere on Planet Bob. After a few things (viridicide, GGA's cleansing of the sphere, and GPA getting stomped by... well, everyone), it became a mid-level sphere in terms of amount of nations. In that way, stability, is a relatively good thing, though, it can be bad, yes. In terms of excitement? I like a lot of little wars a lot more, so, give me instability any day.
  19. Aye, I worded a few things wrong there, let me fix that (writing it all at once just after waking up tends to make one do stupid things. Thus why I never conduct foreign affairs in the morning! ). Thanks for pointing that out.
